Romania didn't had an army in WW2. The King was a liability, the Government was split betwen german supporters and russian supporters, and the army was made of untrained civilians with no idea why they were fighting, with cheap , outdated guns. Our economy was in decline and the only capable military leader was branded as traitor because he helped both sides. Plus, we were the only resistance left in the whole of Eastern Europe and we weren't Germany's priority. Plus, the Germans took a lot from Romania before, so we weren't on kind terms anyway.

Dude...this is Italy we're talking about. It had trouble with Ethiopia and you performed less than them. Even if you couldn't hold out you could've at least honorably defended it until the last man. You crumbled and surrendered faster than the Italians. Nobody expected you to blitz half of Russia, but just to hold one flank until real soldiers came, the Germans.
