We are adding a really, really awesome unit with an 'interesting' title to it. And you have to play a certain way to unlock it. It just isn't going to happen by accident; it's a combination of things you'll have to do. I know I'm being vague about it, but it's probably the most awesome unit in the game. You're not going to find it in the Civpedia or the unit list, you're just going to find out that you can build it during one session.

My top is:
1. Fanatics (probably require some Piety SP).
2. Guerrilla (probably require some SP).
3. Mutants (probably require nukes to be launched). This is less likely, because it's more joke.

All other suggestions looks quite unreasonable.

EDIT : I like your idea of training fanatics if autoritarian + pious (+ been at war for some time maybe). I'd like something serious, but the easter egg bit makes me think it might be something goofy.

All in all, I can't think of anything else than the spearman vs. tank thing. Maybe a Great general who looks like a spearman, and named "The tank killer", or something like that.

Maybe it will be something where you do something and get rewarded with one tank-destroying spearman unit?

I'd guess probably some sort of random event type thing like from BtS turns Anti-Tanks skin into looking like a spearman, or something like that. If its not the GDR.
