Trust me on this one.

For every person who finds the game is playable once they upgrade their system I'm sure there are a few more who notice no difference in playing. I am saying this based on several posts I have read on this board. It shocks me to see certain posters on here proclaim that the cure is more RAM when the user has a video card with known problems, or even in some cases suggest buying a new video card model which also has been having problems!!!. Not to mention there are people who have actually suggested that people go out and buy a brand new computer.

These errant suggestions appear to stem from the fact that several different technical issues are arising and people are confusing answers. Often giving the right answer for the wrong problem.

I suggest that everyone wait patiently until we have some real information from firaxis about what is going on before begining to dish out money (unless you can afford to lose your money). Until then lets keep on trying to find answers (chaging the civ ini. file has worked somewhat for me).

I agree completely. After some system tweaking, updating drivers etc., I was able to run it on my old laptop with 512MB of system RAM and GForce 440 Go with 32MB of RAM. I completed a game and it went through fine, without any glitches or huge performance drops. So I believe in most cases it is not your hardware, but an unlucky combination of various software components installed on your system that make the game unplayable...

Don't upgrade you pc for a game, it is only a game, and it is a game with limited merit.

@Vorpal: That's very interesting.

Are you still getting that performance? What's your OS?
