Double Your Pleasure

I can honestly say I hate this mod. The rate cap thing that is mentioned has driven me nuts. I am losing money when the govenor adjusts the slider to within the rate cap and I am tired of fighting a war and losing F***ing units due to this horse S***. I am so mad that I just stopped playing to save me the headache.

There are some cool things about the mod but some small issues have really destroyed all enjoyment for me.

@kb2tvl: Sorry to hear that; you cannot play DyP in exactly the same way you play standard rules. A lot of people enjoy the different strategies you must take, but some people don't. I actually wind up getting quite a bit more money when I play DyP, but that could be differences in style.

Quite a bit more money you say? Towards the last century, I am usually making so much I give it away. When I am done with researching advances, I go full bore making money and make 8-9k a turn. I have had over 250k in the treasury before.

well, it was nice of kb2tvl to drop by to give us that update. :) we now know there are two people who hate this mod.:crazyeye:

I have just made a huge map of Australia (check it out ;) ) and I wanted to know if it woud be alright to use the DyP mod with it?

What I want to do is make it so that you play as one of the 7 states and territories, bushrangers or Aborigines with the DyP rules.
This was my first ever go at map making and this will be my first attempt at making a mod so any advice on what to do and what not to do would be greatfully appreciated.

Go right ahead. Kal-el has stated repeatedly that DyP is public domain as far he is concerned.

As to how to do it, I'm not sure. And be warned that DyP is forever changing (at least it seems like there's no end to it) so you may have to update your work.

Hey guys. . . well, I'm back, sorta. Playing America as a serious (that is to say, no giving up in frustration) attempt at Monarch. In DyP, none the less. I have but one gripe. I had d/l'd a graphical modpack to show smiley faces for happy workers, content faces for content people, and red unhappy faces for unhappy people. I could dig the file back up if I had to, but I'm not sure where y'all are referencing the pop pictures. . . can someone point me to the file?

The best run at the Great Library I've ever had! I bet my whole early game on getting the GL and as soon as I got into democracy I put my research down to 20% and left it there so I could make cash and upgrade my city improvements. I fell behind in techs, but I was betting the farm so to speak. I got the GL and lost it on the same turn (due to learning Education down the tree), but I got 18 techs before it ran out. Sweet! I got most of the techs through Physics and Banking in one turn. What a culture shock for my civ. Anyway, just thought I'd share. I'm testing the new vanilla Civ 3 version, build 5 and it is moments like that I love in this game.

Turner_727, the popheads file depends on which version you're using. The one on the addon section at the DyP website is compatible with version 1.05x and 0.91r. The one in our test forum is compatible with the latest test version (and standard Civ3 for that matter). Get the one you need from one of these places.

ohh...

I wanted to say it a long time ago...
Electricity should be availible much more later then it is now...
It is right that people knew about electricity fir quite a long time but they started to use it only some 110+ years ago...
While in DYP you have Electricity even before the apear of trains!!!
That is some 80 years too soon....

There also another problem in the DYP
You have something like long range bomber...
and the air plane the first one is able to shoot it down...
The Long range bomber should be just unrechibl to the air plane.

Can you amaigine an WW1 plane shooting down a bomber from the 60...not tlking about the more advanced?

Hey DyP guys, I was just reading a thread in the general discussions area about naval warfare in civ3. I know the lack of AI naval building and warfare has been discussed regarding DyP, I was just wondering if you all had figured out how to get the AI to build more naval units and get them to be more aggressive naval-wise?

Also, is there a listing anywhere of all the new units that are being added to the update? Any more naval units? Thanks.
----------------------------------------------
I am not being cynical, just very observant.

Well, I think we have succeeded in making the AI - in some cases - build more naval units. But I'm not sure what made the difference.

As to a list of new units, others are more qualified to answer that.

I havent reached indrustial yet, but i was looking the things from pedia that will wait me there and saw those naval mine thingies... There wasnt mentioned if they dont require upkeep . I think they shouldnt. Now if they really DO require upkeep then they are quite weak...

Anyway, great mod... i bet firaxis did put lot of stuff into conquests because they feared the competition.
