Double Your Pleasure

The Eagle has landed !

DyP version 0.79 is out now, and it is Firaxis Patch 1.29f compatible. Get it from The DyP website where you can also get Patch 1.29f in case you're having trouble with the other servers.

Here are the candid details (aka. The Changelog)

Note - the most of Civilopedia entries are still not finished - see the changelog below to find out which ones can be assumed to be trustworthy.
------------------------------------
v.0.7.9 - Firaxis Patch 1.29f Compatibility Service Pack
-------------------------------------
************************
Preface: This patch is mainly a high-speed service pack, meant to make DyP compatible with the Firaxis patch 1.29f. The Firaxis patch was released while we were in the middle of giving everything a major overhaul, and there were only two options available to us.
1: Release a quick patch with only a few bug fixes, leaving out all the major changes as they had not been fully implemented yet.
2: Wait a few weeks to get everything in place, including the 1.29f compatibility.
Fortunately for you we chose the first option, or you wouldn't have read this for _at least_ another 14 days ;-)
************************
Changes to DyP caused by Firaxis patch 1.29f
************************
Edit: Green Experience level removed. 1.29f only allows 4 exp. levels (and the extra one didn't even work before :-( )

Experience levels are now
==Exp.Lvl =====HP Bonus=====Retreat Bonus
Conscript------------- 2 ---------------0
Regular--------------- 3 --------------15
Veteran-------------- 4 --------------30
Elite----------------- 6 --------------45

Fixed: All improvements should now show up on the build list button (bar the few we don't have Icons for yet, but that is very few)(Give Firaxis a BIG hug for fixing this one :-) )
Edit: The Center tile of a city now gives 3 Food, which means that the food situation is now closer than ever to what Kal-El is aiming for. (You can kiss Firaxis for this. Dont hold it back! :-) )
***********************
Other changes and fixes
**********************
Fixed: Crash bug with Penguin Missile has been fixed
Fixed: Crash bug with PPS-15 Radar has been fixed
Fixed: Secret Agent no longer upgrades to Explorer (yes, it was an error ;-))

Fixed: Longboat now has unique animations.
Fixed: Land Mines can now be airdropped.
Fixed: Universal Suffrage is now spelled without an under-score... (was: With an under-score...)
Fixed: Furs and Olive Oil now use correct in-game icons.(I hope ;-) )
Edit: All AI Governors have now been set to produce Industry and Culture often.
Edit: AI Governors - Other changes too numerous to mention have also been made. Mainly all civs now only have 4 priorities flagged.
Fixed: Purple square around resources in Editor, has been fixed.
Fixed: All resources except Seal and Sheep should now have icons in the Civilopedia.
Fixed: Issues with AirShip and Jeep civilopedia icons.
Fixed: A few civilopedia entries have been fixed. Mainly Buildings and Units. It is still incomplete.

Stunningly quick Isak! :goodjob:

RobO: Isak suggested I might like to join the testing team. I'd be honoured, but quite honestly I probably don't have the time to devote to provide enough feedback to keep you satisfied!

I'll definitely be starting another game this weekend :D, so I'll keep you all posted on anything I find.

"Moved tech icons into pediaicons.txt. "

Are you going to make icons for each tech now that we can?

:D Lotta work ahead of you if so.

GIDustin

Edit: Hmm "tech icons". Potential section to add to my website. . . :D

Edit: Ok, Ok, forget all that, it is definetly Mining that is doing it. I crash every time Mining Tech is discovered.
Sorry, was a bit worked up when I couldn't get right back at it with the new Mod and all!

Louis XIV & JohnnyBuck: Is it v. 0.79 that is crashing on you? If so, I already know what is wrong, and will update later today.

Sorry about that - should've known not to trush the built-in bug-spotting routine :(

I'm getting the same crash. I have gone through reinstalls just to check whether this was a problem.

However, let me say this to the DYP team...this is a great mod. While I'm waiting for the fix, I tried replaying the unmodded version. Boy you realize how good this mod is and how it deserves the DYP label.

Thanks for making civ3 far more enjoyable.

______________

Gaming since the first SSI program game out for the TRS-80. Prize for anyone who guess when that was.

My game is not crashing unlike the rest of yours, but what I have found is that when I assign correct starting locations they dont always start in the right places they seem to pop up in the other random starting place so im gonna delete them and see if they start in the right places

EDIT: Actually I do get the same error its just the i started with a expansionistic civ which already had farming when i choose one that didn't and researched farming i got the error and the game crashed

i was running 0.77 dyb with 1.21f.
am i to reinstall everything or can i simply install 1.29f and then 0.79 dyb above the former installations? i guess it should work?

i'll give it a try now ... :)

Morbius: Sorry, don't think it will work - the 1.29f patch replaces some of the files we have modified, and I'm not sure all these files are re-replaced by patch 0.79.

So to be sure, you should re-install Civ3, I'm afraid :(

But of course, if you feel like testing, please let me know how it fares.

The fix for 0.79 should be out in a few hours, btw.

okay, so i will wait for the fix and then im gonna reinstall everything.
thx for the swift reply.

Ah, the power of my modmanager.

anyhow, these are the files that the 1.29f patch replaces.

"D:\GAMES\Civ3\civ3mod.bic"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\Art\advisors\science_ancient.pcx"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\Art\advisors\science_industrial.pcx"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\Art\advisors\science_middle.pcx"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\Art\advisors\science_modern.pcx"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\Art\advisors\techboxes.pcx"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\Art\Units\Tank\Tank.ini"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\text\Civilopedia.txt"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\text\PediaIcons.txt"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\text\script.txt"
"D:\GAMES\Civ3\text\version.txt"

I mean, those are the files that the 1.29f patch overwrites over the DYP mod

Hi Isak. Yes, I am using all of the updates on a fresh install from scratch.
With the "fix/patch" you are talking about having ready soon - will it require a reinstall of everything? Or just leave as is and patch with your next release?
I also tried playing the game without the mod, OUCH, talk about boring compared to the DyP mod!!!
Keep up the excellent work guys it is really appreciated.

Cheers jb.

Dont worry - it should be fixed now. Excepting the odd spelling error which may cause bugs later on - this was rushed out after all. :)

But as of now, DyP version 0.79.5 is available at the DyP site

It should fix the crashes when discovering new techs - and I fixed another couple of potential problems as well - just for the hell of it.

Also the Clan/Settler/Shaman/Missionary scheme has been changed a bit, in response to the fact that the center tile of a city can now support 1 citizen all by itself (thanks to RobO for pointing this out before going on vacation - give my regards to the British Isles, Robster ;) )

If you've already done the reinstall for DyP version 0.79, you don't have to do it again for 0.79.5 - just apply that "on top" - so to speak.

Also note that there is now exe-files available again - let me know how they work out.

On behalf of the DyP Mob ...errr... Mod Team, thanks for all the kind words - a bit later tonight I'll answer some of the recent questions - I really have to spend some time with my daughter now :)

Hi Isak,

I went ahead and unistalled everything, even deleted all directories.
Did a fresh install of the game and then applied the 1.29f Firaxis update.
Then applied the Dyp_V076_Full.exe
Then applied the Update 076 to 077
Then applied the Update 077 to 079
Then applied the Update 079 to 0795
When I discover Mining it crashes, same thing as before.
Quick question, it shows me at the game splash screen that I am running Beta Version 079, even though 0795 was applied?
I will try another install and see if that helps.
I did notice I get an error message when putting on 076 Full, something to do with the Civolpedia.txt I think. I assumed that was normal and is part of what is corrected in the later updates I applied.
Thanks for your continued efforts.

jb.

It should say 0.79.5 if you have 0.795 installed, so I think something went wrong with that last patch - try installing it again, if you haven't already uninstalled everything
