DPII's Unit Previews

I think you should include a normal death animation as well.

BTW, the unit looks great :)

awesome!

I love your idea for its "death" animation- very cool :D

Thanks for the feedback. I'll do a regular death animation as well as this one.

On to the finer points of this one:

I'll definitely try to tighten up the turning radius. Won't be too tough (I think :crazyeye: ) I think I'll have him rear up and then start to twist as he's coming down...

Rhye: About the elephant... hmm... I promised to do that Balearic Slinger a while back and that dropped off the radar... I started working on the Carthaginian War Elephant... and now... a Numidian Cavalry... hmmm... I wonder what could be coming out in the very near future.... :mischief:

hopefully, Iberian infantry will be on that list for your Carthaginian unit pack- consider it a personal request, and I'll provide any artwork (through a combination of my own fantastc art skills, and scouting the net for good pics) The Spainards and Portugese are probabley the two singl emost over looked civlizations in term sof ancietn age units

abotu time to change that, considering they had the best medium horsemen in the ancient world- even ceasar used them- and developed teh breed of horse in the time before rome woudl even be founded that was the european choice war-horse breed even into world war I

the Iberians have soem wonderful looking ancient troops- and woudl be perfect since the Iberians were so much used as mercenaries in the western med sea.

Please don't forget about the slingers... you could make a whole family of slingers (see my signature for inspiration!)... (hint hint)

Dig up the concept art and I'll see what I can do.

Scutarii with spears (shoudl have soem sort of sword really- the one closest to veiwer woudl be best IMO, though with just a tunic, and greaves, and no pants

Okay... I finished rendering the Carthaginian version of the elephant... here's my idea for the generic version. I know it's a bit plainer than my other units, but it's also good because it can be used for a more ancient elephant unit. I think a heavily-armored elephant might be good for the next generation.

Dom Pedro, what's the status on this awaited unit. It looks super and it sure will be needed by Hannibals troops.

Xen, I requested some type of Iberian Swordsman in the Unit Lottery (not that there is a great chance of winning, it will probably be a Pegasus Knight or a Cloud or something), but if I do, I might end up asking for something like the last one (only hopefully armed with a Falcata or Gladius instead).

personally i thinkthe last sones chain mail looks sort od stupid; the other Scutarii with spear picture looks much better IMO (or at least the colouration, and, I liek the fuller cheek plates on it) though i agree, it would be all the better the better witht he falcata or Gladius (for those who do not know, the spnasih inveted the fabled galdius, and durign the punic wars., were essentially fighting with a ofrm of light legionry that woudl soon be adopted by Rome, based off the effectiness of these warriors)

that said, if you dont win the request still stands for every iberian unit that wouldnt be made, such as the spearmen, and horsemen

well,in that case, i cant wait for you to poop out the final product :p

Well... unit making has never sounded so unappealing :crazyeye:

How about we just stick to words like 'animation' and the likes. ;)

As much as it is cool that the Celtiberians invented the gladius, I for one am up to the gills in ancient units who fight with swords. Please, offensive units often used spears, didn't they? Just cuz Civ uses the "spearman" as a 1/2 defensive unit doesn't mean modders are going to. I mean, the only two unit graphics right now I can use for a Gaestatii (buck naked Celtic transalpine elite wandering warriors, who famously fled at the battle of Telamon) carry swords -- utahjazz's pictish warrior and Steph's converted celtic fanatic -- even though the word Gaestatii apparently means "spearman." Could one at least give the Celtiberian guy a spear as an option, anyway (when the time comes, of course)? (Besides, Steph's converted Celtiberian warrior fights with a gladius -- its just a shame those units are so darned small. When one of them fights with, say, the PtW Gallic Swordsman, it looks like David fighting Goliath!)

I agree. I personally see the need for a lot more spearman. Although any of these units would be awesome additions to anyone's game.
