Dragon Age.

I did it at level 11, but I had to use cheap forcefield tactics to do it....I forceifleded my main attacker and for whatever reason she just kept attacking him like a tard while my archer and two mages just blasted away at her. It just took me a long time to figure out, and I hate using ******** A.I against itself to win, it feels cheap.

No, no, not the final fight of the game; the final fight of the Ozrimmar quest.

Here is what I did.

Spoiler :
My main was a human warrior w/sword/shield. I was using Sten and the dwarf warrior, both in the heaviest armor and biggest two hander I could get them. Last was Wynne, specc'd to only heal and get no aggro. For tactics I had the two big guys geared to attack whoever my main was attacking to maximize damage on a single target. I basically ignored the dwarf chick, and took out the enemy golems as quick as I could. Before too long everything else was dead and it was just my party vs her. Key tactic: Keeping wynne close to the lyerium veins as to grab some quick mana and to rez a fallen warrior if one took a big crit before he could guzzle a health pot.

My.God. Flemeth. Hardest fight in the game. I spent at least two hours reloading and fighting her over and over again.

Used the same group that I did in the final fight at the Anvil above. As long as Wynne didnt get any aggro she kept my whole team pretty healthy. Just remember to bring enough mana pots to keep her fueled up on mana.

I got the game and now I'm addicted to it. I'm currently in redcliffe clastle with Wynne, Sten, and Zevran. I just realized I skipped some major sidequestline "Urn of Sacred Ashes", was that important or did it have any good reward at the end?

Uhm. Thats a main plotline so you cant really skip it.

nice.. interesting to see a totally different tactic at play than what I've been going as. can I ask what difficulty level are you playing on? PC or console?

why are the forcefield tactics cheap? that's why Warriors get Threaten and Taunt... it's not exactly stupid AI.. it's the tank skills at work.

honestly, I couldn't imagine getting through the game on Hard without Forcefield.

I just lol'd at this conversation:

* Leliana: I saw what you were doing back there.
* Sten: Oh?
* Leliana: Don't play innocent with me.
* Sten: What are you talking about?
* Leliana: Outside, you were picking flowers!
* Sten: ...No, I wasn't.
* Leliana: You were!
* Sten: ...They were medicinal.
* Leliana: You're a big softie!
* Sten: We will never speak of this again.
* Leliana: Softie!

By the way, when's the sequel come out? I've heard so much about this game's length, and the characters talk about so many foreign locations, that I was rather surprised to find out that you never leave Ferelden.

Edit: Just finished the game as a human mage. Superb ending.

Still my first time through, on the PC at normal difficulty.

the reason I ask you difficulty is, I really wonder if the game is doable on Hard difficulty without taking 2 mages at all times. I can't imagine winning some of the harder battles without the AOE spells.

and that also means the player would probably have to be a mage, as Morrigan is set up for Hexing and not very good at dealing damage, at least in the early going..

well.... I will try another run at nigthmare mode (PC) with just 1 mage then. allistair, wynne, myself as a less-gimped rogue this time around and.... that nutty bard/rogue for ranged dps I suppose.... or shale for buffing and off-tanking though that might get very tedious quickly.

wynne would like a bodyguard, though, and I never played with him. time to put points into constitution, wynne....

PS: I had to do the broodmother with 1 mage on nightmare... sodding dwarf wanted to be in my party and I won't go out unless I have a tank that is a TANK and I, obviously, had to come. mage died after the broodmother died (I also lay prone). potions were quaffed all around. the heroes save the day.... had to rely on oghren for 1/3 of the dps (allistair really likes starfang... those boys and their toys) and that is a sorry state to be in.

I've done it twice on hard (PC version) with only the one mage. Once my character, once Morrigan. Pretty easy both times - basically, I don't bother much with damage spells for mages, instead, I use them mainly as crowd control.

I've also seen reports of people soloing nightmare as a warrior, so I guess no mages are needed :p

^the difficulty settings have harder settings, but that doesn't mean the game is harder.

I'm guessing the better controls, menu systems, and of course the patch fixing glaring issues like the dexterity bug (and other balancing issues), make it much easier to play on the PC, and therefore easier to conquer Hard and Nightmare.

Comment on the plot, massive spoilers:
Spoiler :
I was bothered that Loghain's motive for abandoning Ostagar was never revealed. I was expecting it to be the case that he was possessed, or that he had some secret but amoral weapon he planned to use to defeat the demons; but it seems that his reason was just that he was pessimistic and thought the battle was already lost.

Also, the fact that his VA was Simon Templeman was awesome. I was soliloquying to myself, "Your fascination with glory and legends will be your undoing, Cailan! Vae victus!" Come on, he even looks like Kain.

Spoiler :
His reason for abandoning the battle was, from what I understand, because he didn't really think the Darkspawn were actually a threat. Winning power was his main goal and he believed that the Darkspawn could simply be mopped up after he won any civil war

Which is still really uninteresting honestly.

Response to the above:

Spoiler :
If Loghain didn't think the Darkspawn to be a threat, then (a) ordering the attack would've been a smart idea, and (b) if the king is still dead, he still becomes regent; only he becomes even more popular for being a double war hero. Doesn't add up to me.

Spoiler :
King Cailan only died long after Loghain had retreated, if he had attacked he would have likely won the battle but as a side effect he would have saved the King's life as the ogre might have been killed by the reinforcements, plus its not like he could have stabbed the King himself

And I must admit its a pretty good plan if you consider the information that he had at the time, as far as he was concerned the Darkspawn were only strong enough for that one battle and Cailian had simply built up the threat of the darkspawn so he could write himself into legend by destroying a Blight, its hardly his fault that it turned out to be a real blight since the Archdemon didn't show up until well after
