Dragon Age.

Ehh ya...I was just hoping for a mod, I don't like having to deal with tactics slots junk or plan my characters in slightest. The leveling and stats and skills and such in this game just kinda....don't do it for me. I usually love that stuff but this game makes it feel like an excel spreadsheet, making me want to completely just avoid difficulty and just enjoy the sights and sounds instead of remapping quick-load to the right mouse button.

And I did Redcliffe first, and then the mages tower, and am now doing business in Denerim. I already did all of the Urn stuff to BTW. But even in the very beginning of the game, it was just to frustrating on normal to constantly have to reload, so I almost immediately jacked it down to easy right after the korcari wilds.

The PC version by default is unpatched, while the console ones are, the patch balances the difficulty so easy is actually easy.

I didn't like that your characters don't use their abilities and actions unless it is in a tactics slot, especially the limited number, they certainly need some more slots. Later on though I figured it out and resigned myself to having to use them.

I used the default tactics that are built-in ("defender" "scrapper" "healer", "archer" etc.) then modified them slightly to my liking. Building them from scratch was kindda tedious for me. Didn't enjoy doing that.

I played on PC with normal difficulty and never ever used the tactics screen nor spent points on that skill. Sure I had to pause a lot to manually control everybody, but it worked just fine for me.

I pause and micro all combats. I don't micro that much, because the characters on auto attack manage to do what's needed, but the Tactics screen is rather useless, and the skill even worse.
There's no way to tell your party memebers 'Remain behind the glyph' or 'Don't rush into the Death cloud' for instance.

This game is nice, though I still prefer NWN2. I'm in a seriously bad cycle of restarting again and again at the moment... I might just give it a rest until Awakening comes around or buy it for PC so I can play it with overhead view.

I completed it with a human duel-wielding rogue... was pretty fun. Lots of finishers.

I hate how, even when a trap has been discovered by your rogue (Leliana loudly claims "TRAP RIGHT AHEAD"), the rest of your party just can't use their brains and avoid them. "Thanks for warning me Lel- OW #*$)* BEAR TRAP".

And for the love of god stop running into the freaking fire(Redcliffe).

More often than not I find that is my own dumb fault that I run into traps. Despite being a rogue.

Yeah, sometimes the AI is really frustrating and you need to put everyone on hold position and micro. I love it when AListair the almost dead enemy he's fighting isn't worth his attention and runs across the screen to take on an archer who's at full health.
I wish the tactics system had some "don't" or "never" options like "don't use cold spells on revenants" or "never cast heal on an ally with curse of mortality".

Nah, if there was a flawless battle AI and we could forgo microing them all the time, what else would be left for the player to actually do? :D
It would be like playing HOMM or TW series and autoresolving all the time - where´s the challenge in that? :p

Many dont play RPG's for the combat. I am on of them.

I have never had that problem, you'll want to make sure he doesn't have anything set to seek out the enemy with the highest health.

A summary of how you ended the game? Here's mine: (spoilers of course)

Spoiler :
At the Landsmeet: I let Loghain live, Alistair is pissed and leaves. Oh well, I never used him anyway. And why is he so pissy uh, I never killed anyone who had surrendered I wasn't going to start now, plus Loghain seemed to understand, finally.

Morrigan's deal: I hadn't used Morrigan. And her deal seemed shady, considering the whole Flemeth business. So I said no, and no to her going to Loghain instead (ew). Her argument was that Loghain would become the hero and I'd fade into obscurity? Weaksauce argument. She leaves for good. After Zevran dying, Alistair leaving, and now her, my party's ranks are growing thin.

Killing the archdemon: I let Loghain do it, I mean, there's only so much I'm going to let him get away with. So he winds up dead anyway, and we're both heroes, whee-a-boo. Whatever. Besides, I gotta go and get some more Leliana booty all around the world (aka I still had stuff to live for whereas he was just crapped out now, I'm more useful than this loser).

I guess I'll try to replay the ending giving the final blow myself. I wonder what happens then, funerals and what? If you still live, you get to talk to everybody again and discuss things. You kind of miss on that if you just die.

Oh well.

Spoiler :

Loghain tied to kill you, Alistair, his retreat caused Duncan (closest thing to a Dad after Arl Eamon) and the King's deaths, poisoned Arl Eamon, etc etc. Of course Alistair hates him and will leave. I don't know why you didn't use him, he is quite funny to talk to (actually so are all the characters once they start opening up to you).

Morrigan is hilarious too, and yeah her deal is to have your child and it will have the soul of the arch demon, an old god, but without the taint. I honestly had no problem with that, as I was going to pursue Leliana instead but got too far into the game and Morrigan's relationship and couldn't figure out how to get with Leliana. So I assume I never had strong attachment to either. She also will always leave anyways.

How did Zevran die in your game?

As a human noble rogue I put Alistair up as king, Morrigan had my god baby. Zevran and I set up a new base for the Wardens at my family estate in Highever. The others went back to their homelands (except Oghren who became a drunkard in Denerim).

Replaying as a female elven mage, with a chaotic neutral goal. Will play as a psychotic dwarven warrior for the third playthrough for the achievements I don't have.

Dude, buy King of Dragon Pass!

Seconded.

Spoilers pertaining to the Orzammar main quest:
Spoiler :
Am I the only one that just hated this quest? Horrible repetition for what had to be at least two hours through the tunnels and what have you, and then the game makes up for it by having three boss fights in a row.

Not only that but I apparently misunderstood what each boss fight was. I thought the fat tentacle Broodmonster thing was actually Branka having been transformed by the forge; that's what that insane rhyming dwarf was implying, I thought. Turns out it's just a monster. Disappointed me too, that would've been a neat conclusion to the quest; and given how epic that boss fight was I was pretty sure that was meant to be the end of the storyline.

Then the four-faced boss? I thought that was the forge, and I specifically remember thinking to myself: "So the plot twist is the forge is alive and evil? Saw it coming, still cool." After I won that fight, I ran around that room bewildered for a minute until I realized it was just another boss. Boo. And then of course we come to the fight with Branka, which took me about a dozen tries because I kept getting overwhelmed by the number of enemies. The one thing I give credit to this quest for, though, is that the solution is legitimately morally ambiguous. Seems like every other quest in the game has a clear cut good-vs.-less good decision.

@ PrinceScamp
Spoiler :
Yeah I know all that about Loghain, but my character was like the most ultimate noble paragon Jesus type so he wasn't going to kill him I guess? I tried to have a balanced party, and since I was already a tank, I didn't need Alistair really. I had managed to convince Anora and Alistair to marry and rule together, but I spoiled it when Alistair left. I think I was supposed to kill Loghain myself, because if you let Alistair kill him, then Anora won't want marry him anymore.

My party was me (tank) wynne, sten and leliana. At some point late in the game there is an encounter with the Crows in Denerim and they want to take Zevran back. If your relationship with Zevran hasn't grown (he's like below 33 or so? Not sure), then he'll side with the crows and try to kill you. You must kill him and a bunch of crows.

@LightSpectra
This describes pretty well everything that went through my head too. Confusing, and way too long.

Oh well.

Here's mine, from my playthrough as a female human mage:

Spoiler :
I killed Loghain (awesome decapitation scene).
All the other NPCs survived.
Alistair and Morrigan had sex (given who Morrigan's father probably is, it was way too interesting not to take that option...), and as such I killed the Archdemon with no negative consequences.
Alistair and Anora married and ruled together.
Morrigan ran off to have the godchild.
Oghren went off to live with the chick from his sidequest.
Wynne became court mage
Sten went home.
Forget what Shale and Zevran did.
And my character and Leliana rode off into the sunset to have large amounts of hot lesbian sex :D
