maybe we could find someone else to mod this... it was getting pretty interesting if i might say...
and posting the update or what you had done of it would be good.
Drake, some of the best NESes to exist have updates that are less then one page in word and lacking the extravagence that is now common among the modern mods. Just do your best, the NES is not about the updates, its about the gameplay and story. Its a learning experience, and you will get better.
Yeah, Drake do not kill this. Even if short brief updates are made that is good enough for me. Get straight to the point and we can fill in the details.
I believe the worst error a mod can do is try to be perfect. It's never going to work, and thus the game is doomed to die. I've seen the same tendency in any number of situations in RL as well. Striving for perfection is a sure way towards failure.
The game is not the mod - it's the players. We want a mod who moderates the game, not plays it. Making a civ analogy, the mod is the gameplay engine and we play the civs. If a game is not interesting enough, it's because we the players don't make it interesting, not because the mod isn't mod isn't extravagant enough. Quite the opposite, an extravagant update can deter from the gaming experience since we the players would feel less in control.
There are only three things I would expect of a mod - genuine interest, time, and humility regarding ones place as the game backdrop. I would urge you to give it another try. We don't expect perfection, in fact we don't want perfection! You have what it takes to be a great mod, if you can only realize that one key thing!
To sum up, Drake, try and give this a second thought. I often have such bouts of pessimism myself. This NES is very promising, so I'd really hate for it to die (just as I will hate it for you to die. In fact, the fates of you and your NES are quite intertied! ).
