DrakeNES - Changing Times

To Gran Columbia
From Brazil

Rest assured that as long as you remain your pitiful selves, and La Plata does nothing to upset the balance of power, there will be no war on our pact. As The Peruvians are allied to us, I think it would be best for you to shut your vile mouth. If it was up to you, you would claim the entire continent as your own.

To Mexico
From Brazil

Trade and friendship is more than welcomed. May your leaders retain the sense it appears the Columbians were born without.

To His Majest William IV of the Netherlands
From Brazil

Such is agreed then.

To France and Great Britian
From Brazil

Surely you would not refuse an offer to trade more, no?

When are orders due?

To China
From Britian

Then we demand the complete and immediate lease of Hong Kong island and the penninusla, Macau and Shanghai.

Thursday.

TO: Great Britain
FROM: Portugal

Macao is a sovereign Portugese colony. The British have no right to it. We do hope your idea of leasing the city was a mere slip up. Surely you wouldn't seek to steal from poor Portugal?

To China
From Britain

Shanghai and Hong Kong, we do not ask for much.

To Portugl
From Britain

Indeed it was a slip up my apologies. Futhermore I would like to renew our mutual protection pact.

TO: Great Britain
FROM: Portugal

We will happily sign a defensive alliance with our British friends.

To: The Netherlands and the World
From: The Belgium Foreign Minister

Due to ignorance and disrespect on the part of my Dutch counterpart, we find it impossible for us to continue negotiations of a formal peace treaty.

Statement from the Crown of the Netherlands, King William IV:

"In reply to the Belgian accusation of Dutch insolance, I offer the international community this: it was the Belgians who cut off diplomatic ties just as the negotiation began. Because the Dutch refuse to give anything to the Belgians without recieving in return, the Belgians have withdrawn from the conference and instead chosen a path of solidarity and an attitude of thoughtlessness. The Dutch are more then willing to listen to the plights of the Belgians, but when Brussels doesn't do so much as to meet with me, I very well cannot listen. I call upon Britain and France to help mediate an agreement and bring the Belgians back to the table, where we can finally bring peace to the Lowlands. Belgium can only benefit from a lasting peace treaty, but when she refuses to even bargain, the Dutch can only assume malicious intents."

From: Russian Empire
To: Ottoman Empire

We are somewhat concerned by your recent communiques towards China. Somehow it eludes us how are Anglo-Chinese relations a matter of such great concern for the Sublime Porte.

To Belguim
From Britain

We encourage you to rejoin the Dutch at the negotiating table. We do not recognise your state as soverign

To: The Netherlands
From: Belgium

How can you claim something so outrageous? We had no other choice but to withdraw from negotiations, without admitting that you somehow still posess a "right to own us." Your demand that there actually be terms of autonomy is outrageous. You have no right to Belgium or anything within its borders. We are willing to rejoin the peace talks, as long as no words of autonomy are spoken.

To Belguim
From Britain

Due to your the continuance of your illegalities we declare a complete trade blockade of your pitful nation until such time that you return to negotiations with the Dutch.

To: Britain
From: Belgium

We find it very distressing that you have closed your border under than the shabbiest of pretences. There have been no illegalities, in fact nothing has been done wrong here. I believe that this blockade shows the malicious intent of the allies of Britain and The Netherlands, and maybe they will attempt to use this as a premise to cripple Belgium. Demand obscenely impossible to accept items, then when not accepted attack, blockade, cripple... We will not be coerced into signing any document that Belgium does not see fit due to a trade blockade. Belgium will not be ordered around by Britain, nor by threats. Any attempt to blockade the shores of Belgium will not be tolerated.

To Belgium
From Netherlands

We DO still retain the right to autonomy of the Belgian state, you are a rebellion! You are not a ligitimate state in our eyes, and thus in order to win your rebellion, which we are not completely against, we expect for the both our nations to negotiate and compromise. If you cannot do this, the most basic responsibility for a soveriegn state, than what makes you think you can survive on the world stage?
