Hmmm Well since I really don't remember all that much from the first time - I was only 13 and very drunk. But I'm quite sure that I had a lot of fun, as I usually do.

But I got to hear about it for months afterwards, because of some of the stunts that I had pulled during that long night

But I do know (or should I say have been told) that I thought I was Napoleon, I tried to walk up a tree, I made a small striptease show (this bad habit I haven't been able to leave behind me), and I finally ended up kissing with a girl I fancied back then!!!

No wait we are species 5618 and we got beer...... don't harm us!!!!!!

BTW Brad if you want to know how I'm like when I'm drunk just talk to TF or Matrix - every time I get home from a party - or throw a party myself I usually chat with them over ICQ or MSN, so they should know!!!

Depends what you mean by drunk! I tend to use Dean Martin's definition of drunkenness:
"You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on"

Using that as a yardstick, I've only been drunk once -- 8500 feet up the side of a mountain... everything was spinning...

Using any other definition, hmmm... can't remember... it was over 30 years ago and it's happened too many times since then!

I've never got drunk because I cannot drink due to medical allergy problems. But since I was forced to drink when my parents invited relatives (it was a form of courtesy after all) I really felt strange, after having a quarter of a pint red wine. Even light beer or champaign is impossible to bear for me

All I remember from my first time is holding a big funnel that held 3 beers and everyone around me chantting.

But i was told that I was quite the life of the party.

So long ago I don't really remember, over 20 years ago.

Hang in there, Brad.

You may feel rotten afterward, but it will pass. It's nature's way of telling you to go easy on the spirts next time.

My first drunk was me, two of my friends & a half gallon of Beam's 8 Star whiskey (rot gut from hell). It was the 4th of July, We walked from my house down to the park, about 5 miles. By the time we got there, the whiskey was gone & so were we.

The next day, I got my first hangover...Go figure.

The summer after graduating high school (I was 18 before I drank at all

)

I probably got drunk after 4 or 5 beers, man it was great. I wrestled with a few buddies, threw a few punches, recieved a few punches. Supposedly felt up my best friends girlfriend

I woke up the next morning still buzzed.

Those were the days!

I consider myself fortunate to have never reached that state of being. Once I hit the buzz point, I see no purpose to go further as it seems to be that is when the decline off the climax occurs.

You never accidentally "slipped" Magnus?
smile.gif

I know Ive had more than a few nights when I was planning to stay on "happy buzz" mode, but ended up falling into the "oh ****, too late I'm ****ed up mode". I usually realize this when my footing begins to go.......

This happens when you drink alot in a short amount of time and it doesnt hit you for another 10-15 minutes......

He he he - I know that feeling Drake, but for me that usually happens because one of my friends mix me a drink and makes it 95% alcohol and 5% soda - because he knows that 75% of the time I get a new drink I say "buttoms up boys" and drink it all in one go.........

I usually don't remember anything after ½ hour.......

Shadowdale is an expert on beer. He hasn`t been NOT drunk since....since....Wait! Shadopwdale has never been NOT drunk!

Seriuosly, nothing is wrong with alcohol, as lomng as you don`t drink too much. Tha`s my opinion.

I know it seem hard sometimes, but uh...
remember one thing:
through every dark night,
there's a bright day after that,
so no matter how hard it get, stick ya chest out
keep ya head up and handle it.

drake, tequila has gotten me close but I know just how many drinks it takes to buzz me (generally three - just like the number of licks to the centre of a tootsie pop.)

Yeah, I definetly agree that going above the "buzz" line kinda takes the fun out of everything. You don't remember everything the morning after. You shake off injuries you attain and realize the next day that you need medical attention, you can't get it up as well as you should, you get dehydrated, you wake up with a hangover and often make a complete fool of yourself.......

Thats why I also try not to cross "the line" very often.......

I concur fully with the notion of there not being a point in going past the 'buzz' line.

I've gotten a buzz a few times, but I've only really been drunk once in my life. I was 16, and I was spending a week in Las Vegas with some friends from my martial arts class. We were there for a tournament, and once the tournament was over, a couple of us decided to celebrate its being over in our hotel with some vodka.

I'm fuzzy on the details of what happened after that, but one thing I do remember is, I kid you not, for several moments I honestly thought that one of our sober friends was the god Hades, and that he had come to collect my soul. (Of course Hades doesn't go collecting souls himself, but what do you want? I was drunk. I was in no condition to consider the specifics of ancient mythological thought.)

I had a hangover for two days after that.

The (former) friend I thought was Hades told me the following morning that I had put the moves on the girl I was drinking with. I was devastated at the time, but I now have reason to believe he was lying.

Needless to say, I have not allowed myself to get drunk since, and will not again. That and other factors have led me to a real aversion to alcohol. I'm no teetotaler, but getting drunk is just not worth it. I prefer to remain in control of my own facilities, thank you. And on the once-in-a-blue-moon occasion when I feel like letting go of my facilities, I don't use alcohol to do so. Tetrahydrocannabinol is my intoxicant of choice, and even that isn't something I've ever done more than once in the same month. Intoxicants are more trouble than they are worth, in my experience.

I'm a lot like the Warden with respect to this topic, but with a few notable exceptions. I don't drink at all ... never have. So I can't answer what my first time was like 'cause I never had one, nor do I plan to. So, yes, every strange idea I come up with here is actually completely sober. I don't even know what a "buzz" feels like (but it seems to be a universally recognized word, so I only assume there is a sensation of actually buzzing).

No medical or religious reason for this ... just a matter of personal choice (and some personal non-religious beliefs). But I judge no one else for doing so.

So I'm kinda like Loaf Warden in his post-drunk period, but without the benefit/detriment of having a bad 1st time to teach me. Referencing his last paragraph just above (unless some other bastard slips in there ... having said that, watch it be TF with my luck), I am a teetotaler and not ashamed to admit it. I also "prefer to remain in control of my own facilities, thank you." In my own words, we all know that alcohol affects judgement and reason. For me, I prefer to keep both of those intact at all times. I am fully stimulated by deep, thought-provoking conversations (as well as sex
biggrin.gif
). I also have trouble telling when someone is "lit" at all, much less dealing with someone who is. (sorry for the poor grammar there
smile.gif
)

We also all know that alcohol kills brain cells. With my memory as bad as it is, I figure I can't spare any. Call me a control-freak if you like, but at least I don't seek to control anyone else outside myself. And on the frequent occassions when I feel like letting go of my inhibitions, I simply do so by choice, without further assistance. My actions have often gotten me accused of being drunk at parties. Folks are surprised the next morning when I remember everything I did (and they did) and they realize I actually did all that while sober!
wink.gif

So what was it we were talking about here?

A buzz is a semi-euphoric state of being in which a person might start feeling happy, warm and fuzzy and or relaxed. At this point, memory or control over ones actions are rarely compromised. No hangovers until "the line" into drunkedness is crossed.

It's the best thing about drinking. Someone with fairly low tolerance can get a decent buzz off of just a few drinks and keep it going by pacing themselves. Once and awhile it is good fun and practically harmless.

With a name like spaceman spiff, I figured you were a leftover hippy, whos done more than his share of intoxicating himself. Guess people shouldnt hold much value in a screen name huh?
biggrin.gif

Wow, drake ... I never would have gone there (the hippy thing). That's a lot of reading between the lines. I never would have thought anyone saw me that way. Thanks for the explanation of "buzz", though.

Yeah, I'm not old enough to be a hippy (check the age FAQ ). Never done any drugs or alcohol.
pimp.gif
And I thought you knew where my name came from (I even posted the obvious in the " What does your name mean? " thread).

I guess you think I look like Jerry Garcia, too, eh? (Wanna try again in the " This is me " thread?)

Never been drunk. Most I ever drink is an occasional wine cooler, or a Margarita when dining out with friends. I've approached the "buzz" stage, but it just makes me sleepy, so I figure why go further? I'd rather be awake and alert to enjoy the company of my friends/family.

I'd have to check the age FAQ (if he's there), but Drake must not be old enough to realize where your name came from, Spiff Makes us feel almost old enough to be ex-hippies, uh. [EDIT: Drake is not on the age FAQ, so I'm making an assumption about his age. 'Course, you know what they say about assuming....

a 30 and 38 year old who have never been drunk? Sheesh, I'd have to think thats a real rarity..........

Go ahead and shoot leowind....how old you think the drake is
biggrin.gif
...you'll probably be very close on your guess....

Spaceman, it's just an association thing.....When I think of a spaceman I don't think of an astronaut, I think of someone like Johan (no offense bud).
