I got Civ 4 a while ago and it will not work. I put the DVD into my DVD drive and it makes weird clicking noises. Nothing comes up on the desk top, not a start installation windown not even a "error" message. When I try to run it from My Computer I click on the drive and that hour glass pops up until I have to end program. DVD movies however work fine in my DVD drive. I've tried to run in on other computers, and it works fine in that it starts installation. Does anybody know how I can fix this? has anybody else even had this sort of problem?! Any help would be appreciated.

Country should not matter. Something sucks :)
Consider linking computers via LAN and install from the other computer's DVD drive. Or an external drive. You could also try just to swap the DVD drives temporarily, if you're familiar with such stuff (and you're not using a notebook). Another option would be to create a disk image on the other computer and copy it to yours (e.g., via LAN). Of course, you'd have to use some not-so-legal ways of getting the game start.

Might be a firmware problem, is the device driver/firmware up to date for the CD drive?

Maybe a silly question but what is firmware and how do I update it? Thanks for all the responces so far. could it be a problem of the DVD itself? And if so would copying it (if possible) help?
