DYP on the MAC

Good to hear you're sorted. Did you find out why the previous download wasn't working? It's also still a mystery why you don't have the locate command. Maybe it only comes with the developer add-ons, though I don't see why it wouldn't be a standard utility

The PC mod files are compatible. There is no separate Mac mod because it's not required.

- Download the 30MByte Mod Pack zip file for the PC - 1.29f version.
- Expand it to a file called "Full_DYP_101r.exe" or something similar.
- Drag and drop it onto Sutffit Expander which will create "Full_DYP_101r.exe Folder"
- Create a copy of your standard Civ3 1.29b2 folder and add the mod files form this folder. You can ensure that this is done properly if you use my drag and drop installer:
- Download my drag and drop mod installer here. It expands to a disk image. COpy the application to your hard drive.
- Launch it.
- If the Civ3 Folder that you want to modify is not listed in the window then drop that Folder (NOT the application) onto the installer window to add it.
- Drag the DyP Folder onto the installer winodw and and drop it on the icon for the Civ3 copy you want to modify.
- Confirm that you want to do the deed.
- Launch the Civ3 app in that folder and play DyP.

As far as I know GOTY is just a marketing packaging gimmick, and has no significance technically. You MUST ensure that you have applied the 1.29b2 poatch to your Civ3 before installing DyP.

I thank you AlanH for this interesting obsolete information. I hope you are still checking these threads and can post an update.
:crazyeye:

I would if you'd give me a clue as to how it's obsolete?

[Edit]The only item that I know should be updated is the link to my up to date drag and drop mod installer.

If the DyP mod has been changed then I take no responsibility for that .

And do you have CIV3 Conquest well ya i meant maybe you could sent it to me ore something like that because i could give a lot of games

Civ3 Conquests is not available for the Mac.

The ones you see mentioned here. Double Your Pleasure is a massive extension to the game, and the Game of the Month mods provide a lot of the features that are contained in the Play the World expansion. The big things you can't have are network and multi-player features, which are probably not very useful anyway :D

yeah and can you explain me how to add units and civs without that the game crashes i did it before but i don't now how i did it without to let thing it crash

Sorry, I don't know much about the editor. I do know that you have to get everything just right. The text files and the .BIC file have to match up exactly, and the graphics files must have no errors in them.

That last point is important to note, as the Mac version has its own image file processing for .pcx files, and I think it's a bit more fragile than the Windows built-in .pcx processing. Image files with slight errors may survive on a PC but crash the Mac software.

Double your Pleasure is a modpack created by a bunch of enthusiasts. You download the vanilla version 35 MByte file from a web site and use the instructions around these parts to install it on a copy of Civ3 version 1.29b2 for Macintosh. There's no special version for Macs, as the PC files install just fine.

I should warn you that someone has made a cryptic remark here indicating that the DyP instructions at that link are obsolete. If he knows something I don''t then they may fail, but as he hasn't provided any helpful hints about what he thinks is wrong, and I don't have time to retest the instructions, you should probably consider yourself a guinea pig :D

The installer say's that wht i want to install is already there
and when i start up civilization 3 it doesn't mention that the double your pleasure mod is installed

That's probably the inadequate results reporting in my installer. It's probably not installing anything because it can't find anythng to install, but you get the same message as you would if it didn't *need* to install anything.

Did you try to drop the .zip file on the installer? Or did you do what the instructions say - drop the .zip fle on Suffit Expander first to create a folder and then drop the folder on the installer?

Sorry, yes. It's a zip file when you download it. That expands to an exe. You have to drop the exe on Stuffit Expander to create a folder that you can drop on the Installer. If you drop the zip or the exe on teh installer it will do what you described.
