I have discovered one way of founding christianity before AD (without sacrificing a lot) i do this by rushing for bronze working and then mysticysm (if i didnt start with it)., while getting size 3 capitol and micromanaging my way to finishing both my worker and bronze working, either producing a working boat or warriors depending on starting location. i then (Because i dont want to sacrifice expansion to much) chop a 2nd worker, 2 warriors, settler and finally stonehenge. if i start with a bare hill square my 1rst worker mines it before chopping permanently untill the finishing of stonehenge. 50 turns (on norm speed) later i get a great prophet which is usually a litlebit to early also considdering i research a few extra techs (namely pottery/agri/wheel) before the techs (writing+ the 5 ancient religion techs) required to let my great person found christianity.
please note this usually lets me cause the crusifying of one of the famous people around 1 ad, havent yet managed to found it on the symbolic 1 AD though, without micromanaging.
also i start with chopping forest squares that are just outside the working area, i have an agressive civ with 2.2strength warriors (good enough for a lil while) which gives a litle more security in the early phase, when lucky i can hook up axeman quick enough with my 1rst settler and get a military going well with 2 more forest chops.
i have tried this one on emperor diff and i havent tried it very often, it once failed when alexander began with copper in his capitol, not so far away from me.
this depends on
-forests
-copper (to quickly get military so you can keep expanding through agressive civs/barbs)
-(preferably) a square with fishys (so you can beeline workers by building workerboat -> 2x worker
-(preferably) a hill square
this will allow you to:
-convert neigbours and completely block ALL OTHER religions if you gift them theocracy afterward (and ask them to adopt it)
-found your own superstition even on emp dif without mystik.
i would like to know if some of you knew some ways to get powerfull techs early like the christianity tech, without building the oracle
