Earth map, 24 civs [for Warlords]

Rhye, I converted your map to a mapscript file. Mapscripts are much more flexible when it comes to picking civilizations, leaders, options, and victory conditions.

I converted it with my savemap python script. You can find it here

I am playing on this map as china, and managed to build the great wall. I thought this was pretty cool, seeing as the great wall is 'the only man(sic)-made object visible from space' (or, at least is was when i was in high school)

So the position is a bit off...:D If you can't find, it's the seperator between the desert and grassland squares.

thank you, but can you explain us what is it exactly useful for?

The advantage of having the map in a mapscript instead of a worldbuilder save, is that you can start a game on the map with "Custom Game" instead of "Play a Scenario". With "Custom Game" you can choose which civilizations you want in the game, and you can pick the leaders. You can also choose the options and the victory conditions that you want to play with.

If you want to test out the mapscript, let me know, and I'll send it to you.

Nice work. One thing that jumps out at me right away: having the Ottomans' starting location in Instanbul is kind of hard on the poor Greeks. Moving the Ottomans a little farther East into Anatolia (modern Turkey) would be a little more reasonable, not to mention historically accurate -- the pre-Ottoman Seljuks originated in eastern Anatolia, and the Ottomans didn't move the capitol to Instanbul until the late 15th Century.

I'd also rather bump the French and put the Celts in their place for the 23-Civ version, but that's just personal preference.

Aren't the Zulus, Russians, and all the New World civs just going to completely eat everyone alive on this map?

Is there a reason why Napoleon isn't there. I would have first thought of Napoleon instead of Louis. With Louis focusing on culture, it would make it a little tight in Europe, but if Napoleon was there instead (being more focused on military and gold), there might be a little more room.

That mapscript file version of the map could be interesting. Anything new about it?

What about a random huge map for 24 Civ ?

With setting the ideal number for ressources and should choose between an archipelago and a pangee predefined for max fun

With the liberty to choose any leader you want ...

Is it possible ?

How does one get rid of the cloud layers in the global view, so one can really see what's going on from different altitudes?

Thanks for making this map! Haven't tried yet but it looks enjoyable. :goodjob:

One question though: some civs like China, Spain, Inca etc start one tile from coast. Does anyone think they should be moved? Otherwise the AI would just settle there.

Is a few slow...

Try civscale, from the makers of blue marble terrain.

I am looking for a high-quality very large earth map that will work with my game. I have not yet purchased warlords. Will this one work, and if not, would someone kindly point me in the direction of one that will? Thank you very much,

Ginger

Go to here. It is actually the area that this thread is in. There is a whole lot of earth maps there. I personally am not familiar with the earth maps, but the ones listed seem to have their size mentioned. As for quality, I don't know. I can't say what earth map is high quality and what isn't. I guess you would have to try them all - unless someone here can give you their experience of those maps. Good luck! :)
