Earth map, 24 civs [for Warlords]

Hi all,

I'd love to try this Mod, but my computer is not such a studd and the game quickly becomes very slow. Is there a way I can edit the Mod so that it has less Civs?

Or even better: use the mod in a custom game where I get everytime to set the number of Civs (or even choose them)?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Yes, you can edit the mod to have less civs... I can't remember off the top of my head how it is done, but hopefully someone else will be able to help you out there.

I have a feeling that the number of civs won't be your problem, though. It's probably the size of the map that is more of the problem. Unless you get yourself a better computer, unfortunately I think that you'll have trouble with this mod whether it has 4 or 24 civs. ;)

Genius!

I'd been getting a bit jaded recently and this perked up my interest in Civ again. Bonus was that with huge waits between turns I could get on and do some other jobs and not get Civ-bound.

Quick question: Probably very stupid but can I run this mod with the HoF mod at the same time? I like all the updated diplomacy screens.

Anyway, thanks heaps.

Hi my computer won't run anything with a new dll like the one in this map/mod, why is that?. If I remove it, eveything is fine.

This map features my Earth with all the 24 civs in Warlords.

This time it is a mod, because it contains a modded DLL that allows 24 civs, and a different Celtic city names order (There was no room for Bibracte, too close to Paris, so they'll start from Entremont, like in Civ3). If you feel that the Celtic presence is still choking France and the other European civs, there's a 23 civs no-Celts version included.

The correct procedure to play is:
  • Unzip into \...your Civ4 folder\Warlords\mods\
  • Run Warlords
  • "Load a mod"
  • "Play a Scenario"

I know there is a way to setup a shortcut on my desktop to run this senario right off the bat instead of having to load up warlords, then load the mod which makes my computer reload warlords. I often get an error report when I do this. So if I can load up warlords once with the mod then I won't get this error. I did it for another mod once, I just forget how to do it. thanks.

you have to open the warlords INI file on your compukter. in the warlords folder, (not regular Civilikzation 4) its called 'Civ4Config' and you are looking for a line of code that says::

; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = ##

## means the full folder name of the mod. hope this helps.

First I just wanted to mention I love this map and waste many hours a week playing it with various civs.

I wanted to play a custom scenario with this map so I can play with some of the victory conditions turned off, but when I go to select the difficulty level every civilization is set to noble (except egypt who is set to prince), and I am only able change my skill level as the others are all locked in. Is there a way I can unlock their Difficulty level so we can all play as prince instead of just my civilization? (if this were the case the AI would be no smarter and I would simply be handicapped more)

Thanks for your help.

Effectively, this is what you do by selecting just your own difficulty level as Prince. It gives you more penalties, and gives the AI a few more bonuses. At all levels the AI is really no smarter than it is at Noble, just that it has more bonuses.

There's no need for you to be able to switch the difficulty of the AI, because your difficulty level is what affects them. Hope that helps. ;)

Any more questions that you have, try asking them in the Question Thread. :)

every map that i see is only for Civ IV Warlords. i was hoping to find a gigantic map of earth that i can play on Civ IV alone. i do not have the update yet, and i am not sure i am going to get it... does anyone know where i can find a map that is gigantic that will work in Civ IV? Of not, where could i find the largest map of earth that will work with Civ IV standalone?

Listen, please pretty please. I have been trying for hours to get this map to work. I really want to play this map and it is probably the only map I need to download. I just want an erath map with all civs inlcuding the warlords civs.

I followed Rhyes instructions exactly. When that didn't work i tried some other things i noticed when reading through this forum. I have spent hours to look for an answer.

First, I unpacked the folder and put it in /civilization IV/warlords/mods/
loaded the mod, and started the scenario. All civs are there except the warlords civs which renders the mod useless.

Next, I installed it in the /documents/civilaztion IV - warlords/mods/ folder
still the same

Then I took each of the seperate files in the Earth24 folder and copied and pasted it in all folder that had similar files, I even replaced some files.
When starting the application there was like 20 error messages but it started eventually. But stilll, there were no warlords civs and now I am reinstalling civilaztion and warlords completely.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

I am really angry and frustrated now. It seems to work for everyone else and i cant find an answer. But i just want to say that even though i cant play the map (yet), i really appreciate all of you that makes maps and everything, thanks! Btw, i tried the "gigantic earth map" aswell. I followed the instructions but when i start the scenarion it says it cant load the WBsave file or something... jesus!

PS. I use Mac. But i dont think that is the issue. Maybe it is, who knows??

Most probably this:

You don't need to copy and paste over the main game files. In fact, if you do that'll give you the massive amount of errors you reported. :)

Simply putting the map into the folders you mentioned is enough; then just open up Civ4 and "load a scenario". As Rhye says in the first post:

The correct procedure to play is:

* Unzip into \...your Civ4 folder\Warlords\mods\
* Run Warlords
* "Load a mod"
* "Play a Scenario"

Hope that helps. ;)

Hehe, yeah, i got really crazy yesterday when i couldnt make it work... ;) thanks for your reply, but im sorry to say that is the first thing i tried, and i did several times too

Is this Pitboss compatiable? I am wondering about this because there was an attempt, but it failed. See here for that thread
perhaps it could have been due to the fact that some modifications were made to the map.

The mod didn't work for me at first.

I spent hours messing with it. It turned out to be my graphic settings.

I just set them from High to Medium and it works perfectly. I didn't even need to use single unit graphics.

Thanks Rhye, another hit!

Is there a way to get this map to work with your mod?

Since the map is in it's own mod, you can load this one and your mod at the same time.

Rhye-

Great map, great work as usual.

Question- how do I run this mod with Better AI at the same time?
