East Asia Mod testing

Last night I played almost till the morning.
That was surprising. I did not realize anybody is able to have created a MOD, which is THUS life-like.
It surpass the basic commercial version of the Civ3 to such an extent that it seems be two different games. Yoda Power and the Team - you are superb!!!

However, there are some things I would disagree...

- first of all, the elephant units simply can not have such a low defence and ineffective attack. Yes those animals are vulnerable indeed to human solders with long spears, but still - they are of 4,5 tons weight and extreme power! second - it is not life-like that all civs can build elephants - historically it was only the peoples from the Indian subcontinent, the SE Asia peoples and the Carthage that used war elephants more or less widely. Others simply exterminated those strong and intelligent animals and that was over - the Chinese in all their forms and dynasties, the Japanese (yes, there were elephants in Japan, long-long ago) and all those tribes and groups from the Western India to Central Asia to the Mediterranean sea and so forth. Iran if I my memory does not fail me, simply imported trained elephants from the Hindus because their own populations of the Asian elephant had long been killed-off in Persia and its vicinity. So , for the purpose of even further realism I would think that only the nations of the SEA and SA should have elephant units in this MOD.
The same goes with the Ninja unit. How can it be possible that ALL the civs have it?! It is uniquely Japanese, why should other cultures have such an advance in game? The same goes with the Wu-Shu warrior - it is historically unique Chinese and, with some alterations - also Vietnamese. Why did you let ALL the civs in the MOD have it, even the Central Asian ones, when historically they never had any idea of the East-Asian Martial Arts and respectively they were devoid of such Buddhist-Daoist monk-warriors! Besides, why there are no such unique Japanese units as the samurais and mounted samurais - they again belong to all civs. Why?
I'll certainly re-do this MOD in those aspects for my personal use, but it simply surprising to see such strange way to treat unique units of true Asian Cultures...

p.s. Today I have retouched the Resources.pcx file for the East Asia MOD. Thank to great many graphic designers here, it is now possible to select from a huge variety of resources.
There are also some animals, like the Asian elephant, Asian water buffalo and the Wild Yak, and some fish - they were done by me on photorealistic basis and had not been published here as yet.

If somebody interested I can place it here for public to use, but I do not understand how to do it in this forum.

Onza those units are just stand-in units untill I get better ones. This isn't the finished version.

You defeat your own argument. Seleucids are yet one more example amongst many. Take a look at War Elephants by John M. Kistler, for a start.

Boddhisattva Warriors by Shifu Nagaboshi Tomio. Anywhere that Indian culture touched would have some sort of spiritually dedicated martial art.

Okay, I started out as the Song. Built my first city, and started production on a Shang Soldier (or Spearman?). Anyway, I pressed "F" to fortify him and the game began to lag extremely, the music began to play the same second of itself on loop, and I couldn't kill Civ III besides by restarting my computer.

Now, some suggestions:

LHs:

Timurids- Shiro's Bumin Khan
Mongols- R8XFT's most recent Attila
Burma- Maybe Sword of Geddon's Burmese LH?
Nanzhao and Sri Vijaya should be switched, but to what I don't know.

Also, could you please add the Kushans and maybe Xiongnu? Thanks. So far, a great mod :) Really like the religion ideas, though Shamanism seems a little weak.

I'm not really fond of SoG's LH, to be honest. Especially when it doesn't have eyebrows and seems too awkward. Don't get me wrong - SoG made some great contributions such as his amazing Far Horizons mod, but LHs aren't really his strong point.

Firaxis's Uncle Fester / Wang Kon leaderhead can definitely be replaced with Shiro's King Sejong LH; it'd still work for Wang Geon of Goryeo.

Some potential replacement LHs (for Nanzhao, Sri Vijaya, and Burma):

jorde's Hirohito
Shiro's Liu Bei
Shiro's Prithvi Narayn Shah
Shiro's Sun Quan

None of them are perfect, but they're better than Bismarck at least.

Hey im having an issue whenever i try to play the 144x120 map. Whenever i go to build my first city the second its built it says I've lost a space race victory, and it ends the game. I've tried re-downloading it and installing but it still happens. Any help/advice would be great thanks.

On the screen where you pick scenario parameters make sure space race victory is not selected.

i played the game with regicide and the king unit was my settler so that when i built my first city i lost to conquest. playing with regicide off fixes the problem though. supreme mod

ah the science advisor figurehead is the domestic advisor when your looking at the tech tree

I saw Yoda Power posted in another mod thread, so let me ask here, if this was ever updated to fix the crash issue and the worker glitch? I read through the thread and it has some nice work done, but no real indication how much of that work was incorporated.

I never completed it.

I'm still a regular at the forums, I just don't post so much.

My time for modding is little, so I just make maps that I never release these days.
