EC1 - Persain Warlord - New thread

i swear england is blue. england talked to me after i got close to the blue. so i don't know who else it could be. do you?

i'm hoping fr a cultural take over of the city:satan: i'd say that would be nasty for the babs. anyways i wonder when shdwlord' going to play.

we thought alike on the settler and the gems. if it was my turn that is exactly what i would do.

Inherited: moved warrior next to gems 1 space east, it will allow one extra city in the area with minimal overlapping. We have contact with Germany, so I am guessing that an english unit saw one of our units, and they are orange, and germany is blue.

1) 1075 Dispensed of a barbarian horseman.

2) 1050 We have completed the Pyramids. Temple started in Pasargadae. Gordium founded.

3) 1025

4) 1000 Bactra founded.

5) 975 People demand the Forbidden Palace. Barbarian emcampment raided, netting us 25 gold.

6) 950 What a tough decision, to expand, or grab all the ancient wonders. Antioch finishes temple, begins Colossus. The English begin the Oracle.

7) 925

8) 900 Polytheism learned, writing began. Persepolis begins the oracle.

9) 875

10) 850

11) 825 Our warrior disturbs 3 angry barbarian warriors.

12) 800 After surviving the attack of the 3 warriors, our warrior kills a barbarian horseman.

13) 775 Writing is learned, literature is ordered. While we may not benefit from getting the great library, we will slow down the AI's research if we build it. Established embassy with London, they are on a river, and with 2 pop will have the oracle in 66 turns. They have 2 dyes and 4 spices already. Germany has a pop of 1 and is building a settler. They have 1 horse, 2 wines, 2 gems. Babylon is also on a river, 4 pop, with 1 as an entertainer, and building a settler. They only have 1 ivory connected.

13) 750 Our warrior defeats another barbarian warrior.

14) 730 Our warrior fortifies to heal.

15) 710 Sidon founded.

16) 690

17) 670 Gems are brought to our empire.

18) 650

19) 610 Lit learned, philosophy ordered.
Barbarian horseman defeats spearman in Antioch, pillages work on Colossus.

20) 590 Tyre founded. Our warrior angers another barbarian tribe.

I'm not keen on taking over Ninevah cultrally. I don't mind up to 4 over lap but those 2 are right next to each other. If I get offered it I will probably rufuse.

I would switch oracle to GL. Oracle probably has the shortest life of any wonder and at this leval and with 2 or 3 luxurys to our cities the extra content face isn't of great importance.

Anyway MummyMan is up next

I'll just PM him now.....

Earl, i agree with you. after i thought about it a little more, reazing it would be of the greatest benifit, but to do that we'd have to go to war, i don't think we want to do that yet.

Yes, but we will go to war at some stage. If we take over Ninevah cultrally we're stuck with it permantly apart from the unluckly event its taken back. So I would refuse any cultural takeovers.

I won't be able to play till after 6pm (GMT) tomorrow now so if Mummyman doesn't turn up me and Lee can swap for this turn if he wants...... And Mummy man has a bit of extra time if he hasn't. Just remember to post when your playing.

Just had a look at the the save game, thinking I might take my turns before Mummyman but I honestly can't see what to do..... never been in this poition in a game before. Our two nearest rivals are in terrible terrain and the English, who are further away and look to have as good a deal as us terrain wise, are many techs behind.... Really we need to get a better idea of our continent before we make too many descions so a beeline for map making could be a good idea. Give us a oppertunity to get a city on the other continent or islands as well.

It all seems worringly easy  with nothing really to strive for so far....

Looks like i checked the thread out just in time. I didn't get any messages though (Do you guys hate me? :( ) Just post the latest save so i can whoop some ass.

My bad, i see the posted save, playing as i type(yea right)

Mummyman still has a bit of time to post interest.

If I don't see a post 4 hours after this one, I can pick up the game tonigth. I will post when I do.

Ok, here's the scoop. In my reign of terror I declared war on Babylon because they were weak and were taking up space. Also, Immortals were present and I was anxios to destroy the Babylonians again. So I built up a small army of about 7 Immortals and attacked Nineveh. The first attack provoked a golden age! What luck! So i started to make immortals like crazy and I ended up with about 22 immortals and babylon respawning near a barbarian tribe in the unsettled west penninsula full or tundra. They are cut off from expansion and could easily be picked off, but i decided to stop because I didn't want to have them keep respawning. In any case, i didn't do much expansion but i think that i have cleared the way for a great period of growth and prosperity, or if you prefer the devils way, you can use the 22 immortals that i created and crush germany. Either way, i kicked some serious @$$!

I didn't give much detail on the other stuff i did, so if you want you can ask. But if you don't care, it's fine with me.

I am doing the flip the Earl request.
I will play in the next few hours.

Preturn -
Temporary peace with Babylon, we get $100, and a worker.

70 AD - Some target pratice, and we disperse a barb camp.
130 AD - We find an unclaimed good hut, and get a free settler [party]
More barb target pratice.
[dance] We complete the Colossus.
150 AD - The idiot Germans ignore our line. War!
Hannover is destroyed.
Samaria is formed.
Buy an English Worker for $25.
170 AD - Cologne and Heidelburg are destroyed - pity I wanted to keep something.
190 AD - A pitiful attack, as our Immortals can't kill a warrior in Munich.
210 AD - Uh, are we at war?
230 AD - Oops, "bad" orders cause our troops to attack the English.
We get 2 free workers.
Berlin and Leipzig fall - both give "free" workers.
:cooool: We get a leader, for killing a warior with a warrior :rotfl:
OK, the big decision, where do we build the FP?
250 AD - Thank you England. Another 2 workers.
Oops, Norwich is destroyed.
270 AD - The Babylons dare to cross into OUR lands. :die!:
290 AD - Nineveh is captured.
Hamburg is destroyed - this is getting annoying.
Hamadan is formed - hugh block of hill, mountains, and ivory for us.
300 AD - Spices are know in our road net.
Ergili is formed.
Another dead barb camp.
310 AD - Munich is captured costing 1 swordsman.
320 AD - Ashur is destroyed. This time Babylon is DEAD!
Gee, I guess the GL came on line. Instant knowledge of Monotheism.
DOUBLE palace expansion.
330 AD - We send a thank you card to England. Two more free workers.
Temporary peace with Germany - we get 2 cities, $17 and a worker.
Reality - Our supply lines were getting stretched.
360 AD - Screw the Germans, I am NOT letting them build another city.
I kill their spearman / settler stack.
370 AD - The forbidden palace is build in Berlin.
380 AD - Well, I already passed 20 turns.

Summary - Kill Germany / England.
Then we need a MAJOR infastructure / research push.

Up next - back to Earl

edit: Old attachment deleted.

Good turns both from the sound of it but we captured Ninevah? oh well....

Anyway few general things a) We didn't get a golden age at the same time as our Immortal won by coincedence. If your UU wins a battle you get a golden age if you haven't had one already

b) Reason we got Monothisum free is because we're industrious and SCIENTIFIC. Monothisum was our free advance.

And a warrior + dead enemy warrior = Great Leader? :crazyeyes :goodjob:

I've only jsut arrived at skool so can't look at the game file or play for another ohhhh 9 hours :( .

So if Axid wishes to take his turns go ahead, just post to say you are doing so. I'll play when I get back anyhow.

EDIT: I'll be able to play in an hour.

i say we just kill germany/england. it shouldn't be that difficult.
knight's would be useful soon however. just a thought

Inherited turn 380 AD: Barbarian attacks Immortal = elite

390 AD (1) Tarsus produces spearmen. Needs a hapiness improvment before starting aquaduct and with 3 luxuries and the high cost of Cathedral and Colloseum decide to go with Marketplace.
Sardis prdouces settler and starts temple. Glad to see we didn't keep Ninevah :D The Babylonaian lands aren't as bad as they looked. Warrior (help!) Stack moves up outside Lepzig... kill one with intact Immortal
Troop movement

400 AD (2) 2 remaining warriors attack Lepzig which is a nice little free upgrade for our regular spearmen. Susa trains a Spearmen, starts another. Troop movement. Liz tries to neogtiate peace but shes prepared to give little more than the treaty. Lets see if a few cities change that

410 AD (3) 2 Horseman attack Frankfurt. 1st gets the guarding vertran imortal down to 1 hp.... 2nd takes nothing and he becomes elite :) Arbela completes Spearmen, starts another. Elite Immortal attacks regular Spearmen in Konnigsberg and LOSES. The following up Immortal takes off the final HP and we takeover. Germans have respawned however in the middle of desert on the Western Peninsula. Their dead in all real meanings of the word
Darish Kabir (DK) is founded just north of the Jungle Gems. Get 25 Gold from Barb camp

420 AD (4) Troop movement....

430 AD (5) Damn.... Barb horseman comes out of no where near Berlin and destroys three workers near Berlin :? English Caravel Spotted above Tundra Peninsula

440 AD (6) That Barb Horseman gets his commupance and we disperce another Barb camp... The seige of Liverpool really starts to kick in. Just Regular Spearmen defending it so one Elite Immortal slightly ahead of the rest attacks and knocks one out for no damage

450 AD (7) Theology discovered and Persepolis finishes Cathedral so it immediatly starts Sistine. Start resarching Feudalism
Kill the remaing Spearmen in Liverpool for no losses, capturing a worker and a whole 2 Gold. (Don't spend it all at once!) England Start the Hanging Gardens in Size 2 London.

460 AD (8) German Archer appears outside Nurmemburg which is undefended! Rush spearmen for 28 Gold in attempt to save it. How on earth have they got that AND a settler from that dump city with only a single plains square? They now have Heidelburg on the edge of the junge with a horse....

470 AD (9) the Caravel is now north of Antioch (Which has 16 to go on Great Lighthouse) Immortal attacks Hastings and kills a Spearmen.

480 AD (10) Pasargadae finishes Marketplace and starts Hanging Gardens which will be done in 20 turns. 3 Archers attack our Immortals outside Hastings. We lose one to their 2 and the 3rd is finished off. Elite Immortal kills last Spearmen Guarding Hastings leaving a Horseman which bites the dust straight after. We capture the city and 3 Workers. Chulman founded on the site of a old Babylonian Town bringing another Iron into our radius

490 AD (11) Troop Movement

500 AD (12) Kill the Two Spearmen Guarding Oxford and capture it, a worker, and a Catapult, but losing a verteran Immortal in the process.

510 AD (13) Germany ask to talk and Bismark offers a straight peace treaty which we "negotiate" to all he can give, (world map, 37 gold and Heidelberg) Kill a Archer outside Coventry making another Elite Immortal. England ae settling spearmen with Settlers right next to Immortals :D Makes up for those 3 lost workers earlier

520 AD (14) Reports of big barbarian uprising from that amp near Berlin. Send Immortal up there. That newly Elite Immortal from a few turns ago kills a Spearmen on its way to protect Coventry and produces A Great Leader! With one turn to go on Fuedalisum play the low science game to get a extra 50 cash

530 AD (15) Fuedalisum reasarched, Engineering started. Immortal sees stack of 8 Barb Horseman heading for Munich. Should be able to knock one or two out before they get there, enough to be sure that they won't pillage it.

540 AD (16) Liverpools centeral Location is making it the hub of all activities in the south. Either there or Berlin gets my vote for Forbidden Palace. The Barb uprising attacks Immortal making him Elite and down to 2 HP. 2 more Barb uprisings appears over going for Samarra and Nurrumberg, guarded by that solitary rushed Spearmen. Forces gather around Coventry with one already there killing a Spearmen.

550 AD (17) VERY Fustrating turn early on. English Horseman overcomes the Spearmen inside Oxford and both uprisings overcome the defends, 3 horsemen getting through, 2 at Samaria pillaging the work on the temple (no too much thankfuly) and killing a citzen while the Nurremburg gets 30 Gold.
We capture Coventry and a Worker, looks a preety good city actually with Ivory, plains and grassland with shield as well as being on River and sea when its borders expand. Take back Oxford but it is auto-raised. Attack Newcastle, knocking out one Spearmen. Oh and disperse that Barb camp near Berlin

560 AD (18) We kill a attacking English Horseman but lose a Immortal to a Archer. capture Newcastle and 2 Catapults.

570 AD (19) These Strange People called the Aztecs have finished the Hanging Gardens so Pasargadae switches to San Tzu. Kill Archer nearer London. Troop Movement

580 AD (20) Berlin finishes Barracks and starts Marketplace. Gordium finishes Library and does the same.

590 AD (21) (Sorry played one turn extra by accident. I'll play 19 next time) Took Dover, losing one Immortal but gaining 3 Workers and a Catapult. Lost an Immortal attacking Warwick

22 turns till Sistine, 4 till Great Lighthouse and 29 till Sun Tzus. The GL is going to have a very short life...... may be an Idea to swap that for something, may be Sun Tzus and switch Pasargadae to Palace till Leos. We haven't got knights yet as after the first few turns I didn't produce any milatary units. I didn't upgrade to Pikemen either. (Wouldn't have stopped the Barb probs as those cities didn't have barracks.)

The English have 5 cities left, Germany just the one. The Great Leader is in Liverpool and should really be used for the FP and I would suggest in either Berlin or Liverpool.

I got a bit of infustructure, mainly marketplaces which with this number of luxuries are good hapiness improvement, is cheaper to build than Colloseums or Cathedrals AND make some money.

Anyway should be able to finish English off preety much (5 Immortals outside London ready to attack) Apologise about the Barbs but we're a little bit thin at the back which I didn't notice at first.

NB:I accidently clicked a worker onto go to near Samiria. tried to catch him but kept forgeting until he scampered....

Anyway Axid, your up next

Heres the save:

The leader might be better used by forming an immortal army, if we get the ability to build armies now, it will give us an additional place holder. And at this stage of the game, what can stand up to an immortal army?
