eldar08: Gridlocked!

I didn't look at the save that carefully, so I can't answer.

Are you getting enough free time to play a set anytime soon?

Oddly for an unemployed person this past month, I've got about the same amount of free time as I did when I was employed! Trouble is, when I'm home during the day, my daughter doesn't like it when I don't read to her. Or watch Noggin with her.

And now I have an interview Thursday afternoon.

However... I'll see what I can do. I've signed up for SGOTM14, I'm beginning to get a better handle on when I get time to myself.

Trouble is, when I'm home during the day, my daughter doesn't like it when I don't read to her.
Team, I think we need to change the style in which we write our turnlogs! Maybe go: 'Once upon a time, there was... etc.', and get rid of some references like 'Sharol's Brothel and Bar'.
We need to produce something that Eldar can read to his daughter, then there's a chance that he'll catch up!

Well, Civ is not a fairy story, there are gory references like killing and all,

we could say that the other guys are all Evil working for an Evil Force known as 'A.I' ;)
and what we are doing is righteous ;)

Hmm, I need it in the style of Dr Seuss right now:
- Words of 1 syllable only.
- Rhyming with a strong rhythm.

Ho Ho Ho.
Whose turn is it to go go go?

Old guy wants to know. So please Eldar let all know.

I do not like down time.
I do not like it with key lime.
I do not like it in a mine.
I do not like it in a pine.
I do not like it if it be thine.
Will this whither on the vine or not?

Knot? There is no not. That be why you fail said the hale Yoda.
Hale and well met, would someone like to place a bet?

Bet, bet, there is no bet. Me, I have already a pet.

A cat, a cat it is! This cat does not have a hat. Nor does it have a mat. It does however, love a pat. sometimes it throws up in the vat after it eats a rat or bat.

Pat the cat upon the head for it is old and will soon be in bed. In its bed it gets no rest for soon its owner will have a test.

A test? Oh no! Never fear, for I have come and I bring

Fear? Beer? Near? run and jump and get some rest for we will not worry about some silly test.

So let us know who is up or we will have to ask the plup.

:crazyeye: sorry for the spam.

Eldar has just spent the day chasing a toddler round the zoo. He won't be playing any SG sets tonight!

Admiral Kutzov, was post #306 your turnlog? ;)

Rodent would be the next player up on the roster, but his last post didn't contain a 'got it'. I'm happy for any player to shout 'got it' and play the next turnset. So if Admiral Kutzov feels up for it, why not?

In Rod01 Rodent mentioned that he was busy with RL. Since he hasn't posted anything here recently relating to playing the turnset, I've swapped him in the roster, to give him time to catch up.

Roster:
Optional - just played
Admiral Kutzov - UP
CommandoBob - on deck
Rodent - warming up
Othniel - long term skip
eldar (de-militarized; lurking)
Tad_Empire_O_o - long term skip
MooseWarrior - long term skip (PC issues)

Actually, I had time but my ISP gave out on me.

But I can live with that

Got it :bounce: Got it :bounce: Yes I do!

Will need to see if might makes right and we can win the fight.
Too bad that it will not be tonight.

Need to review the rules, <in the voice of Mr. T> before we kill the fools.

Methinks order requires a preview, so pull up a pew and I will get back to you.

No, that was not my turn log ;)

Hopefully, I've loaded the correct save.

With apologies to Scout, I do an F check.

F1: nothing to whine about
F2: 4 lux domestic: dyes, incense, silk and gems.
F3:
5 settlers
4 workers
2 spears
19 swords
1 horse
1 pike
12 muskets
11 cav
1 knight
2 cats
18 cannon
6 caravels
2 armies
26 MI
F4: Alliance with Hammi v Alex. Alliance with Shaka v Alex. Shaka and Toku have RoP with Hammi. We have RoP with Hammi
F5: No comment
F6: working on Physics. Due in 1. Plan to start magnetism.

IT - misclick. Turn on CA2. Start Mag. 3 AI know Nav. Too lazy to track all the builds. 5 turns until alliance v Alex is over. 13 turns until the RoP with Hammi dies. Japan has crap except for a spice. Hammi has furs in the north. Shaka has ivory all over and spices in the south. Hammi has wine in the north. I tend to focus on lux. :crazyeye:

If I've counted correctly, we can put a city 1E of Edo and 1S of spice.

960 - Investigate Edo for 64g. It is guarded by 2 spears; only strategic resource is ponies. Target list is Edo then Osaka.

Contemplate a burn to Commie.

Hammi has wines and fur to sell. Shaka has Ivory. So, Hammi gives furs and wines for WM 100 gpt. Shaka gives ivory for WM 58gpt. Our peeps are now very happy. Increase science to 80%. -45gpt with 364g in the bank. MM a little. Still running lots of beakheads. Unanimate everything to speed things up.

Hyperaggressive DNA kicks in and start moving cavs for oversea duties.

IT - Toku declares on us! Massive war happiness.

970 - Drop science to zero. Give Hammi silks and incense for war v. Toku. note to self: 4 turns to go alliance v. Alex. Lee kills a spear at Nagasaki. vcav razes nagasaki. workers are running in circles.

IT - not much

980 - horses to Hammi for Printing Press, WM, 14gpt, 140g. Hammi gets gems, dyes 50g for Nav.

990 - Raze Edo. B settler founds Las Vegas.

Out of the loop for 48 hours with RL. This is a literary technique known as foreshadowing. More later.

unfortunately, that is part of a real turn log.

I've finished, got some cleanup to do. We do have a tenuous toehold on the other continent.

Toku just declared out of the blue.

My analysis;

Here we are nice and peaceful, shuttling troops to the other continent. We've got nice alliances v. Alex. WW, IIRC was starting to kick in. Only ways to control that in this game is by gathering lux, building markets, running specialists or using the slider. I'll admit I tend to make too little use of the slider.

The alliance v. Alex is going to run in a few turns anyway. So we'll back out of the deals and get some happiness back anyway. What then? We're on track to start an new war of expansion once the troops are in place. Don't wanna get dogpiled. Let's give the AI a reason to like us. I know, I'll buy spare lux which makes us happy and them rich and fuels their research (which is also okay, since they have jack to trade for techs anyway; let them research something we can steal or trade for). The AI backs out of a trade, it is not a bfg, they lose their research engine, we fuel ours and make new deals. Toku did us a favor by declaring. Sure, our forces weren't optimally set up, but so what? The AI is lame (we're about to take his capital and prolly wipe him off the map in the next set).

The AI relations are in chaos. They've stabbed each other at least once. We should be the only realistic trading partner for any of them.

The massive amounts of gold aren't really hurting our research; what else were we going to do with the gold? use it or lose it. not all that much to upgrade. yeah, we might need to cash rush some stuff, but just drop the research slider for a few turns.

If we really want out of the deals, we can induce the AI into it.

Albuquerue needs to be changed from a musket to a harbor and then the harbor needs to be rushed.

The PP trade was ill considered. Don't remember why I did that except to leave open the option to go demo if for some bizarre reason we want to.

Need to get some more settlers up.

Optional, I sense you're p.o.'d Tell me specifically why. My take is that we're on cruise control for the rest of the game.

We may wish to gift/sell hammi and alex techs to get them their freebies for the next age. I've haven't given it a lot of thought, but we could probably go no research after learning commie and espionage.

anyway, I'm fiddling with the mm for production. save get posted Saturday morning EDT.

If it comforts you to know, I believe very strongly that the AI does not believe in Trade Rep in AI-AI trading.

Our plan is simple, stack up cavs and take them down until we get Domination.

We're on a roll, we've got the beachhead, we're heading for domination. In my solo games, by this point, I don't care about rep any more. What's the point? We can shut off research after Magnetism and that will be that. Why buy luxuries when you can backstab and steal them when it comes time? Are Alex or Hammi that close to Industrial and the chance to pick up Nationalism for free? Once I'm in a position to look at the save I'll have a better idea but I reckon this game hasn't much further to run.

At my last set I made observations like this:
We can trade resources now with the other continent, but we don't want to. We don't want to get sucked into 20 turn deals, but also the other continent has nothing we need. We are happy as we are.
What we need to decide is whether we want an ally against Japan. Japan isn't much: no iron and no saltpeter. But they could ally with someone against us, most likely Zulu, because Japan has techs that Zulu miss.
But when Japan ally with Zulu, we can set Babylon up against Zulu, and that could turn out to be a much better deal for us.
And if Japan ally Babs, it can work the other way round; we can set Zulu up against Babs.
Japan itself looks so weak that I personally would not be seeking an ally against them.
Views like this are open for discussion. Someone else might see things differently, but if my contribution isn't even being read or reflected on, then I'm less eager to make that contribution. Rather I withdraw from this SG.

According to the Revised Roster, Commando is up, Or am I up? I am freer than bob At this time
