[GS] Eleanor of Aquitaine Discussion Thread

Interesting ability, you don't want a dark age when next to her, especially as France.

She's kind of actually stronger than I thought she would be. Will have to see how it plays out.

Culture AGAIN?

I like that ability, it's fun and you can use it very actively. I think it suits France more than England, though.
It's only for Great Works as it seems, and not for Artifacts.

The Capitals are strange, indeed. I hoped it would change, but it didn't as it seems.

And I really can't abstain from stating: "This ability should have come with R&F"

You know, if we hadn't know about her via leak for months,I think this reveal would actually have surprised everyone- having one leader for two civs is a very clever idea I never thought firaxis would go for. It's just out of the box.

I think I like her for france more based on the video.

Nothing unexpected thanks to the leak, but she looks good, and her ability sounds interesting. It means a cultural player is able to pursue a soft domination of nearby cities, flipping them as you could in previous civ games. Could be powerful if the numbers are right.

And additionally: This ability won't be worth much when Russia is in the game (supposing the Lavra didn't change).

I like how Court of Love reflects the turbulent nature of Anglo-French relations during the Plantagenet years through the Hundred Years War, when French towns went back and forth between the two powers. Tie that into a cultural motif for Eleanor as patron of the arts, and it is a pretty keen LUA.

Bonus points for English Eleanor still speaking French. I was nervous she would magically start speaking English when they cut to her England screen.

This is another one of those abilities that I can't really gauge exactly how good it is without trying it myself. It's.. interesting though

Either way the idea of having a leader for two different civs is really cool (though that was leaked ages ago of course but still)

Definitely better for France, but I think an England player can find clever ways to use this ability. Neither have any strong Great-Work-Related bonuses anymore per se, so they both have to work for the great works and slots (this would've been OP with British Museum).

I really look forward to playing Eleanor with France. I feel like you could play a very interesting and powerful culture focus, using France's ability to build more mid game wonders for extra tourism but also focusing on theater districts in your border towns to flip neighboring cities. A powerful combo! In fact, it may be my first GS game.

The way they introduced the two Eleanors at the beginning of the video is like something out of a Disney film. Hahaha

EDIT: (Sort of) Ninja'd by @SupremacyKing2

I expected more out of Eleanor to be honest, but one unique leader ability is enough I guess.

She is very beautiful, I think she is now the most beautiful female leader of the game. I really like her, very good to play as France.
