Emperor Cookbook - Napoleon!!

and we probably don't have enough units right now to actually sweep the rest of Mao's cities in a hurry. In my estimation anyway.

What my save does not show is JC 12-16 strong stack by Mao other border city reducing its defences. Also Mao no longer has Iron for Longbows. ;)

Unfortunately you don't need iron to make Longbows; they're a no-metal unit.

Unless that's changed in some patch that I wasn't aware of anyway. I'm pretty sure I've had LBows without iron lots of times.

Or were you referring to his Cho-Ko-Nu crossbow replacement?

You mean for Cho-Ko-Nu's. Longbows are resourceless.

Btw, it's been my personal experience that Sitting Bull usually can't rush all that well on Emperor. Certainly not as well as others can, anyway. AIs start with Archers, and his UU Axeman is at -1 strength from a regular axeman. You end up needing a lot more than normal to take a city. Rushing using a stack of Cover archers is an option but doesn't usually work out that well either, for me anyway. His longbows on the other hand can be pretty darn nasty on offense if you can get them before others have them.

Just my experiences as a regular Sitting Bull player. But, keep in mind, early war usually isn't in my mind for him, either, since I tend to be more of a peacemonger when playing alone.

I'd love to have him in a Succession Game because he's my favorite leader. I might do something funky like an EE though. :-)

1st Gumbolt : Once Mao's out, we can either tech peacefully or take out the rest of the continent.
2nd dirtyparrot: Liked the Astro gamble a lot. It's the (second) best tech rate and only bound to improve.
3rd IT : Nice stack built. Too bad about the island up north, but that can always be rectified :)

Overall, I'd say the game is already won at this point.

1st place: Gumbolt
Already has Mao's capitol, has settled part of the island and has an adequate economy going forward.

2nd place: Kossin
While the defense is quite weak (and I don't understand why more people didn't swap the chariots on the island for warriors on the mainland), there is definitely the potential for an excellent tech rate with the OX being able to go up early. The beeline towards SoL seems like a good idea and popping iron was a very peasant surprise.

I had trouble picking someone for 3rd place. I ended up settling on Teelman. Part of the reason was due to popping iron. He can trade for compass and set up harbors and he has a decent enough tech rate potential. He's also settled the island and has a decent defense force.

Other comments:
-@ Lenowill: unless you have plans on taking territory from Mao right away, there's really no sense in remaining at war with him. You're just wasting the power of the GLH not having OB with him.

-@ Cripp7: decent economy, although OX is going to take time to get up. You have good sentry for potential dangers. You haven't founded banana/incense city yet, and I don't like too much the city placement on the island.

-@ Ignorant Teacher: I had thoughts on giving you 3rd. You have a good size invading force. We all of the island mishap and you haven't founded incense/banana city yet. I would whip a wb up north. I would substitute silk for elephants for trade with WvO.

Whichever save gets picked, I think the game is far from won. There are still a lot of things to sort out.

Agreed. Musa's gonna be in a significant tech lead for a while and we don't have any immediate means of "fixing" that. The best we can do for now is improve our odds on our own landmass.

The BUG notification that Mao would take peace only popped up very recently (within the last few turns, if memory serves) after Mao's assault on my territory failed, so I decided to leave it open-ended for the players to choose what to do with, in the event my file was picked. (The war with WvO has been going on for less than ten turns, and Mao only declared on me a turn or two after I started against WvO.)

Obviously there are now more readily advantageous files to choose from in the list, although I might go back on my own and play mine forward from here just to see how WvO goes (plus probably a simultaneous land grab on Mao's western border).

IT, Teelman and Cripps still to vote. Oh and me.

Would be nice to get some more votes in before this round closes in 8 or so hours time.

1st: Gumbolt: Again already has capital of mao and half his empire. Wont take much to finish off then immediately to will if possible.
2nd IT: There is a stack of death already to go to beat Will into the ground. Tech rate is decent, prod is decent.
3rd Leonwill: War already in progress against Will. Can take another 1-2 cities with current units. Revolt to nationhood then whip till will is dominated.

Theres Cripps and IT and my vote left. I think i will vote and close the round in next 30 mins after i have voted. Its possible people are away for the weekend.

Okies will hold to 10pm GMT then this round is closed.

Few thoughts. Cripps. reasonable science at 229. Musketeers up and running.

Kossin. Best science of the lot. Ox uni coming soon. Bit concerned at 04. vs JC/Will and Mao. Although I dont doubt you are ready to whip out an army of muskets to halt any stack.

Leon. Attack vs Willem is one stop off his capital. I doubt you have enough units to take it though without whipping or drafting. This has damaged your science level. War with Mao wont help diplomacy and he will take peace. Then again I dont think we were planning a peaceful next round. ;)

Dp. Reasonable science. Nice stack. overall a strong save to continue.

IT. Weak science but that stack of doom looks funs. Its a shame its not in action yet! Mao will surely fall quickly but its 10+ turns to his capital.

Teel seems to be using another save as he has a early religion. Weird.

I will vote once round is done.

Overall my save. I had an okay science rate. i could have settled 2 more cities. JC is +10 diploamcy. There is a risk mao might become his vassel. My stack needs reinforcements. Wonder in mao Capital will be useful for defences. I am missing engineering. Need to take the city east of Mao old capital to ease culture pressure. His LB is +100%.

Overall this round has been interesting due to no religion. JC has attacked no one yet!!!

1st place: Gumbolt. Nice job in taking Mao. Will probably have to pay JC to make peace before Mao caps to him.

2nd place: Lenowill. Another advanced war and ready to switch to Nationhood to get draft happy. I think it's totally possible to tackle the Dutch and Chinese at the same time. Only concern would be if JC were bribed against us.

3rd place: dirtyparrot. Nice economy going.

Okies.

1st Dirty parrot - overall a strong save in all departments.
2nd Kossin - Best placed to tech.
3rd IT - Huge stack to invade that looked fun.

With that I am closing this round. I dont think the final vote will change this round.

he results for this round including Cripps who didnt submit a round. (let him off as he took place in first round)

Gumbolt 14
Dirty Parrot 9
IT 5
Kossin 4
