Emperor Domination

I agree of using the GE for the GL and am ok with delaying a settler to get another worker out.

I would say forget about the barracks. I think we have to bank on not getting attacked. If we get attacked a barracks isn't going to change the outcome I don't think...

Also, good call on maintenance going up with a 3rd city. We need alphabet asap (for iron and math). Hopefully another ai will trade us math asap so we can trade for iron and math at same time (i always try and do this if possible). And we need iron to be ready for alex.

maybe delay 3rd city until we know where iron is?

edit: I also don't know if cottages are the way to go. if we're getting pyramids don't we want as many farms and representation-enhanced specialists as possible during our research phases??????

Why were you trying to give away our stone?!?!?!?!?!

Other than that, things look like they're progressing smoothly. We'll have to chop that big pointed trophy out pretty soon though. I start to get ansy as we approach 1000BC...

I like the location of the 4th city btw...

And some observations ...

Switched to settler, cause knew that we have plenty time to chop down those trees. Pyramids are rarely built before 500BC. And thought that the third city will be working on stone, not on forest. It's placed on hills, so supports big defense against barbs. The center also produce additional hammer. It's great city to build wonders. Unfortunately it's not placed on coast. We have none city placed on coast yet :(. I propose to build monument in Munich when wheat will be improved. By founding this city, we haven't lost commerce but improved production ... a lot. I had a crazy idea, to building Great Wall in that city, not worker. Chances of completing this staff were small, but we could get enormous stack of gold. 6 hammers twice mean 12 gold per turn. It's not too late to adopt this idea. Archer went towards Alex, not barbs. The second archer is being produced in Hamburg. We have to improve Ivory quick, cause Berlin increases it's pop soon. So maybe third worker would be good. But we will manage with that

I was planning on grabbing the save this evening, playing over the weekend, and posting on Monday evening. I realize it is a little longer turn than most of you have been taking, but I am headed out of town.

I am going to look at the save this evening and am planning on posting to ensure we're all on the same page.

I also need to find a program for posting pics.

Berlin can switch from Clams to the third hill. 26 hammers/turn and no growth. Pyramids should come in about 12 turns, less if we chop a lot -- should be soon enough. I guess the third city does make sense, since the Stone is such a strong tile. I want to see Hamburg on some better tiles soon, though. Especially the Gold. Building the Great Wall is a nice idea. Is it a higher priority than the fourth settler or some military preparedness, though? Do we adopt Buddhism if it spreads to us, to pacify Alex? Writing next I think. We don't really need pottery, but libraries are a high priority.

peace,
lilnev

I am for Writing too ...

edit: I am for taking clam down too. I suppose Berlin will be starving then, but we finish Pyramids before loosing pop.

Also agrees on writing. Regarding the settler/military, I would need to see the power meter, which I'll see tonight. If Buddhism spreads to us, it provides the perfect delay with Alex. Can we afford to build the GW and the 'mids. It seems excessive. I suppose it would crank out pretty fast with stone.

Oh, i guess that city site is ok. I think that the two spots that my dotmap showed earlier would have been better. Using this, we lose the fish.

On buddhism spreading, thats bad, now we will need to build a library too or wait for religion to get the rice. Why do we need archery? we have horses to hook up! Chariots are much better barb killers than archers.

On city 4:
I think that that spot is pretty good.

I think that I will have to be skipped when I come up. I can't play until tuesday.

johnny_rico can't post until Monday, so I think you're fine.

Chariots are great against barbarians, but they're terrible if Alex decides to attack with phalanxes.

Damn, Buddhism hit Sparta before the monument was done. You're right, that's bad. His culture will always be one step ahead of ours. Too late to do much about it now. We'll fix it when we go to war, I guess.

peace,
lilnev

I have the save. I will take a look at it and post my thoughts tonight for the next ten turns. I would certainly appreciate feedback and will have up until noon tomorrow before I am on my own.

I took a look at the save. Seems like Berlin will build the pyramids, Hamburg will finish the archer, then chariots (?). Munich will finish the worker and the worker will farm the wheat tile. Not sure for a second build there. I know were looking at the fourth city site but to build it now I think would be economically crippling. Should either hamburg or Munich get to work on the settler. Right now, I think we need units of any sort.

After Agriculture, I will get started on writing.

Alex's city near Hamburg has Buddhism but our monument has already kicked out 3 culture. Are we still going to be beaten to the rice tile?

This turn set looks to be pretty straightforward. Should I chop a forest during my turn in berlin to accelerate the pyramids? I am also considering switching off the cow to the other grassland hill to slow growth. Berlin is already at its happiness limit. I don't foresee a switch to slavery too soon.

hey guys, at first I thought munich sucks pretty bad. I envisioned a city by the coast with fish and wheat and lot's of scientists. we would have been cranking out GS like mad. oh well, now we have a really nice production city, which is also good. city number 4 at that spot is good.

writing and alphabet should be next.

definately chop a forest in berlin, if there's spare time for the workers. hook up horses, too. get another archer into hamburg and build one or two more for fogbusting, in an emergency we can retreat them if alex attacks us.

go for the GW in munich, probably after a setttler, though.

starving berlin for more production should be done.

I was a bit selfish by founing Munich. But I cannot recall your proposals for the third city though. After calendar (spices) and CoL, Berlin can easily run scientists or merchants while Munich can finish GL with production 2(center)+4(stone)+3(hills)+3(hills)+3(horse)+1(wheat)=16. Nice idea would be also to attempt to finish Hanging Gardens. Mathematics should be easily catched with Mids. HG also produce GE points. So maybe Aqueduct should be built somewhere.

huh, I thought Hanging Gardens gives a health bonus. What is that good for? I don't get it (might be a little slow). GE points are nice. so maybe they should go together with the pyramids.

we're getting a little wonder happy, aren't we? that is getting a little too much. we have really good production sites, which we should put to some use rather sooner than later and crank out units a take out alex. couple of elephants and a lot of catapults should be good. maybe we get even iron til then.
