Emperor sample game, Hammurabi

Heres what i did. No pictures yet sorry!!!

Spoiler :

I teched AH first settling in place. From huts i popped 2 scouts so had good exploration. Some gold too. 55 i think. I then built two workers and a barracks too.

I was quite slow on my settler which i chopped once Babylon was size 2. I amassed 3 warriors by time yaqob stole my horse plot. I was outraged!!!! So I immediately attacked the lone archer with 3 warriors. My first warrior some how beat the archer. I then upgraded him to woodmen 2 and stole yaqob worker before pillaging his mine and sheep. I offered a ceasefire while he still had 2 archers. He accepted. Taking his city helped here.

Following this I settled my horse city.

I then built 5 chariots with a woodsmen 2 warrior in reserve to nab a worker before my attack. Mainly used chopping for the chariots. I also finished off a partly built settler. I settled the gold city near the food resource west of the capital. My chariot was upgraded by attacking a roaming barb.

Around 1950bc yaqob sends out a settler and archer. I waited for the archer to move away from the city before my next attack. (Didnt want the archer to go back to the city.)

I sent in my 5 chariots and the warrior. I stole a worker on turn 1 of war.

Turn 2 and he has 2 archers. I lose a chariot or so taking the city.

Yaqob is gone. His capital has 2 sea resources and a land food resource. Gold dust on this map.

1900bc 4 cities. 4 workers and a few chariots for defence.

Game on.

Not sure if you are still playing this game but quick update to 1675bc.

Spoiler :

Okay i had 6-7 chariots spare by 1900bc. So i went exploring. I found hetty with 2 cities and a settler escorted. I sent in my woodmen warrior to grab a worker. I land my 6 or so chariot directly in middle of hetty 2 cities.

Both defended by 1 archer. Sweet!!!

I lost 1 chariot to Memphis which i burned.

I lost 2 chariots taking Thebes on the hill. One holy city!! Wooot.

I took out 1 of the settler escort archers too.

2 AI down and counting! Might have a look for Monty and see if I can rush a third AI. Doubtful without reinforcements.

Im still playing. Just not very often, like once a week now, and here and there an hour in between. Gotta go back to "work" now. I'm sorta freelance, so gotta make sure I make enough hours.

Theres never enough hours in the day!!!!

I have played on a bit and I am finding conquest a great way to tech towards COl and other techs. I do wonder if this island alone might give a dom/conquest win. I will post an update when i have a spare moment.

Probably posting this too late but if you're worried about the economy tanking you could just kill Zara and raze his city(ies) until you can afford to build your own (though you'd be trading gold now for hammers later).

Spoiler :
I think with 4-5 cities he will be fine. Theres more than enough gold on the map!! I would keep Zaras capital personally. Its a good capital to have. I would burn his other cities maybe.

I had issues once i took out Thebes/Egyptians and Monty's Capital. I think my main issue was my 18 or so strong stack was costing me too much. This in turn was stopping me reach COL. After a damaging war attacking 40% cultural defence cities my unit cost went down by 8-9 gold a turn. Thats allowed a 20-30% science rate.

I think Helem should have less issue here. It was the upkeep cost of Thebes and the marble city that held me back.
