Well, it depends on the situation. Get some good endgame books. But a rule of thumb is that two pawns on your sixth rank becomes as powerful as a rook (in other words, a good opponent would probably sacrifice a rook if need be to stop them). If you can get two passed pawns together (especially backed up by rooks or with queening square controlled by a friendly bishop or knight) you are in good shape.
