England: Peasants to Royalty

come, children

Hold your line at all costs. I did it with only a handful of Frigates and two ironclads; tis should be infinitely easier for thou

Spoiler :

Main Things to Consider and Remember:

1) Target one city at a time
2) Keep rotating wounded units in and out - the best would be to get the wounded SOTLs to heal within a super close friendly border, and then throw it back into the fray to gain more XP and hit +1 range or Supply promotion
3) Lovely ironclads... if not, a swarm of Privateers and take some German ironclads if you can
4) Fill every bombardment spot with your SOTLs - the melees don't matter yet until you have the city really deep red in health

updated 2 pictures to last chapter. more to come when i play tonight. and i totally forgot 2 range in first skirmish

Essen is a great place, take it down. Then move to Dusseldorf.

Kill every German that tries to take you out in either cities.

Then move to another coastal city.

And if you have a reasonable army by then, land them in Essen (it seems to be isolated by terrain, eh).

You like In & Out burgers? Think of them whenever you are faced with wounded units... but not always. If you can hammer the city down to zero health at the expense of a SOTL... go for it.

In 1828, England declared war on Germany for her greedy land grabbing of the English countryside. Her navy formed 2 fleets, one in the channel between their island and the mainland and a smaller fleet by the newly formed German city. Unfortunately, she underestimated the power of the German war machine. Her assault on the city was halted shortly after it began, and the fleet in the channel was busy trying to stop Germans army from crossing the water. Orleans and Lyon, being on the main land, were in serious trouble of being cut off from any help. Citizens fled the cities in a mass exodus to safety.

The German assault on Orleans territory began and succeeded due to their vastly superior technology. England's ally, Brussels, soon also fell to the mighty Germans. But Germanys assault on the English mainland was not as successful. The Royal Navy was all over their lightly escorted troops. The few that made it through were only able destroy some farmlands and mines. More ship of the lines were ordered to be built. With their army so weak the navy would have the mission of protecting England. And that they did.

20 years later, the war against the Germans drug on. Queen Amanda's husband, Nole, had passed over the throne due to the queens ailing health. Their son, Kenneth, was the next in line with his family in tow. And his son, James would likely be king after him. But for now, the only important thing at hand was surviving the German onslaught. Europe was a hotbed of hated with countries denouncing each other and more wars erupting. France was once again at war with Germany and their new ally Arabia. England might catch a little break if Germany faced a 2 front war. But that was not the case, as Germany sent wave upon wave of combatants towards English soil.

The Royal Navy was by far the best naval fleet in the known world. Countless times they proved their worth by stopping the Germans from crossing the channel. The great war churned out the best sailors England ever seen. Their fleet, was the only thing which saved England from utter domination. But King Kenneth was not content with just surviving. He wanted to win this war, or at least make Germany understand that England was not a nation to be messed with. Military advisors gathered to formulate a plan to push Germany back once and for all. It would take years, maybe even decades, but they would succeed. At least that was the goal. Their plan involved using the navy to continue beating down German invasion forces, then cut of the supply route to the German city in England. After taking that city, they would fight for Orleans to keep the channel open for travel. Pushing from there to Essen, Paris, and Dortmund. King Kenneth figured while his navy did that, they could amass a decent land force to invade the mainland of Europe.

The following years seen some progress. The German city in England was taken and renamed Port Town. The navy then moved into the channel to commence bombardment of Orleans. Only time would tell if the kings advisors plan would work.

EDIT: Sorry if the pictures are out of order of the story, im still learning this photobucket thing

Nice update, and good job holding off the Germans.I can imagine how hard it is fighting someone more advanced than you.

The only thing saving me is my SOL's can sink embarked units with one turn. They've been amassing about 10 units each time they try. Hopefully there armies running low.

EDIT: its also funny how they keep trying to cross the channel but only send an artillery to Lyon. And even then they pull him back when he receives damage. They haven't even attacked the city.

Fickle happiness I see... 'tis be interesting to see how dost thou deal with it, and Panzers!

Everyone loves a good underdog war story! ;)
Hopefully this one turns out well, and England can return to Peace and Prosperity.

The Royal Navy is being put to the test!

Yes they are. the destroyers were the worst so far, but them planes and bombers are hurting me. i know how to defeat Germans destroyers, but some anti air advice world be helpful.

Fyi I'm researching steam power to let you know how behind i am. Germany just reached the atomic era

I'm not too good at remembering how all the techs go.If you don't have any fighters of your own or any anti aircraft guns, I don't know what to tell you.

The Battle of Britain may end up going a different way in your case...

It will be indeed ugly... until the RAF is formed. And even then, things may look grim when Rommel's bois come into France :(

if europe crumbles, make sure you own the largest crumb!
