Enterprise D vs. Marvel

Okay, I was just on a road trip, and a question occurred to us.

What superhero (I prefer DC or Marvel) would you rank being equivalent (offensively and defensively) to the Enterprise D?
IMO a much better argument could be made for a Empire vs. Federation battle. A Superhero vs a spaceship isnt really a fair fight, and if it is, its still just weird

God no, that's a horrible arguement. Everytime I go in search of a fun Empire vs Trek war it gets bogged down in technical jargon and precise physics equations. No one ever thinks of trying to have fun with the whole thing. LASERS and PHASERS for crying out loud.

I've never seen it degrade into quantitative comparisons before. That would be crazy!

(Trek pwns BTW)

Rocks tend to explode when hit by phasers.

But there isn't a single super hero that I can think of that can travel faster than light. Sorry superheros just don't compare to a spaceship.

Many can. Teleportation. That is instantaneous.

Most superhero's disapear in a flash of light or some other cool effect. Much like a transporter really. But there is a difference between teleporting to another place on earth and traveling to unvisited distant planets.

Who says Nightcrawler can't teleport to said planet? :mischief:

Going that fast into the unvisited distance is just as dangerous one way or the other. Going faster than the speed of light into a rock you didn't know was there will drive up your spaceship insurance.

That's what sensors are for.

Here's a tally of the Enterprises superhero comperable abilities:
  • Sheilds
  • Warp Drive
  • Phasers
  • Transporters (estimated range is the diameter of the earth.)
  • Photon Torpedoes
  • Long Range sensors
  • Subspace Comunication
  • Tractor Beam
  • Shuttle and Cargo Bays
  • Ability to split into two ships.
Did I forget anything?

Well, Silver Surfer and Thor certainly outclass the Enterprise when it comes to shields (endurance) and phasors - probably speed too.

I think the GL can output more damage than the Enterprise, too. But people in Iron Man's category are quite outclassed.

I don't care who wins, I just want to see the pretty explosions!

(I would pwn after the two sides destroyed each other.)

On a closely related subject I bought a book not so long ago which is an X-Men - TNG crossover. I came across it when browsing and my curiosity was peaked, I haven't had a chance to read it yet

Don't read it, it's horrible. Let's just say Wesley Crusher is a major player in the resolution.

Enterprise-D = Uncanny X-men

Wasn't there an X-Men/Star Trek The Original Series crossover? I have a book that wonders if the sole reason for the crossover is so someone could shout "Dr. McCoy!" and both Bones and the Beast turn round.

Yeah, there was. The TNG/X-men crossover references it (but I've never read the original, so I can't say if it was as horrible as the TNG/X-men one).
