I think the Russian reluctance to invade Finland bespeaks of character and perhaps past experiences. Nevertheless a wise Russian leadership now does not mean stable long-term Russo-Finnish relation in perpetuity, especially if Russia should become all but supremely dominant in the European region.

Tunisia wins independence, Presidents first act is to declare.
President Habib Ben Ali Bourguiba addresses the first meeting of the Tunisian Chamber of Consent; whose duty it is to approve all of the President decrees. The meeting room was respectably adorned despite being held in a small chamber off a side room of an unfinished renovation of the spare outhouse behind the glimmering Presidential Palace.
Independence is not the end of our dreams but only the beginning. Events have caused former colonial powers to withdraw, but if we do not take our part in these events, new conquerors will soon return. Because our own independence was granted only last month we know even more than most what a treasure freedom is. While we do not glory in war or destruction, we recognize that this fight is worth the sacrifices it will demand of us. This is a critical time in history and it is our privilege to participate in it.
Tunisia commissions 3 new submarines then declares war on: Spain, communist insurgents of France and the Soviet Union.
Tunisia asks newly independent neighbors to form Aab Maghreb Alliance.
Morocco and Algeria are invited to join Tunisia in the Arab Maghreb Alliance for mutual protection. Tunisian Destroyers with Algerian air cover will patrol the Barbary Coast for communist vessels. While it would be a great achievement to sink an enemy warship we will cooperate as closely as possible with British and Italian forces in the area. It would be better to let a potential prize escape than to sink an allied or neutral ship.
Tunisia recruits international volunteers.
Portuguese patriots and naval forces are invited to Tunis to form the Aljubarrota Squadron. Named for the battle that earned Portugal its freedom from Spain this multinational forces will begin the process of forcing Spanish occupiers from Portugal once again. They are invited to join the Tunisian Navy until Portugal can be liberated.
Newspaper ads in Americas major cities call for American volunteers to come to Tunisia and fight communism as the Thomas Jefferson Brigade. Just as we fought together in Americas first years as an independent nation let us fight together again during Tunisias first years of freedom. Except on the same side this time.
