erezNES - Waves of Civilization

I have added one. It's very simplistic. Information - go wild.

Tycho - why? No one joined yet. There is one civilization, but it is not even named... and has a president grrrrrr

Eh, four people have already signed up onboard the NES, but I think I'll make a civilization just in case someone can't be a part of the NES this round.

Spoiler :
Talon/Tycho
Absolute Monarchy
Religion: Polytheism
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy:
Military:
Projects:
Location: Central Italy
Leader: King Arlund I
Color: Dark grey

Formerly wild nomads that prowled across the wild lands out far beyond the native peninsula, the people of Talon have finally decided to settle down and try to forge a peaceful nation for themselves in these rolling green lands. Unused to farming and crafting and such, they are more bred for war and combat than any other profession, but are attempting to create a new nation for themselves on the ashes of the old in order to create a better future. Though the many tribes of Talon are splintered and fractioned, they hold a strong, collective culture that guides them and drives them to new heights, protecting themselves from outside influence and invaders. Only time will tell however if they will rule in peace and prosperity, or by blood and conquest smashing open kingdoms that dare stand against them.

Arrow and Tycho are first. As I said no reserves, the first four joiners with descriptions and all will be in the first update.

two still remain.

Arrow
it's real world. and lol - so now two in Italy? wow.

Tycho

I want first update today people!

Kingdom of Nassiros
Absolute Monarchy, but a (powerless) advisory body of 100 men is elected by the people
Religion: Polytheism
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy: Nassiros thrives on the rich mineral deposits and fish of the Aegean area. The government actively supports merchants, providing loans for them to travel far and wide, in exchange for a large cut of the profits.
Projects: None yet.

Location: The main Kingdom of Nassiros only a small area around the southwestern part of Anatolia, but Nassiric culture has spread throughout the western coast of Anatolia, the entire Aegean, and southern Greece. Though it is controlled by several sometimes-warring city-states, Nassiros is the cultural capital of the entire area. However, at the kingdom's founding, the ancient Nassiric leaders swore an oath that no matter how divided they were, all Nassirics would unite against a foreign enemy, and the oath has held true to this day.

Culture: The most important aspect of Nassiric culture is the sea, as Aqyon, the Sea God, is the king of the gods in Nassirism. Every boy and girl learns how to swim at a young age even if they are destined for a life in the mines, and all but the most idle of the upper class know how to sail.
The society is male-dominated, but single women are allowed to become fishers.

Religion: Nassirism, a polytheistic religion, has five main gods: Aqyon, god of the Sea and Wind, Chyron, god of the Earth and the Riches Below, Nycho, god of War, Netteris, goddess of Trade, and Ulderon, god of Death.

Unique unit: Boat Archers, which attack without leaving their boats. This enables them to make a quick escape and be ready to attack at any moment.

Eh, I think I can move away from Italy if it's going to be a problem and we need to spread out; might go for Greece and such as it would be my second choice. But what other sort of details do you need, erez?

Name/Player: Braavos/SamSniped
Government: Tribal Council- the major regions of Braavos, as divided by the First Council, each get one representative, elected through whatever means that tribe sees fit. The tribes are reworked almost every year due to expansion, so that there are only 7 at any time.
Religion: Polytheism- Three main gods, representing the sky (Hytarius), sea/water (Marius), and land (Tarinus), with other gods for thing such as war, farming, hunting, etc.
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy: Currently based on a simple barter system. If person A needs something that person B has, and person B needs something person A has, they will probably trade the needed items. The government is funded by having an official barter center, which trades all day for needed materials, and gives away surplus from the donations and/or official government farms/mines. Fishing is an integral part of the economy, as well.
Projects: N/A- None yet
Description: Braavos is nestled between the Mountains of Hytarius and the River of Marius, and borders the Braavosi Sea. Formed by coastal tribes who unified, Braavos is highly focused on the sea, but has also started to expand across land. Braavos is peaceful, although as has been proven to many tribes of the region, is dangerous if provoked. The men of Braavos all receive military training, and can be called to arms for five years after their eighteenth birthdays, providing a strong force to be called upon at any time. After the five years pass, they can join the standing army upheld by Braavos, either in the navy or army. The best soldiers, called the Optimati, learn a different, more fluid style of combat called "Water Dancing," which is a beautiful sight if you are not on the receiving end. This structure of the military has helped Braavos stay together for many years, and it will for many more.

Language: Reminiscent of IRL Latin, and many words mimic Latin exactly.
(I will describe more later, just getting the basics down)

Oh, for God's sake, Sam. Braavos? AGAIN? Dude, if I ever GM a game and you join as Braavos, sure as hell a comet will hit it in the first update. No survivors. Unless, of course, it's an ASoIaF-themed game.

But this is Earth, and serious. It puts me on my nerves.

Some info on my government:

The head of the government is called the Archon, but he has very little power. His area of influennce is mainly limited to leading the army and choosing commanders. However, on a disputed vote, where tha majority is under 60%, he can choose whether the vote passes or not. He is elected from the Iocus by a 2/3 majority vote.

The main governing body is the Iocus, which fuctions much like an OTL senate. In the Iocus, there are 1,000 representatives. The reason the number is so high is to give even the smallest parties a voice, and to prevent corruption. The Iocus is randomly selected so there is no campaigns or elections. However, only citizens can enter the Iocus, and to be a citizen you must fulfill these requirements:
1. You must be part of a family containing a merchant.
--Note: a 'merchant' is defined as someone who trades goods from foreigners, or processes the goods of these traders (ware-houses and the like)
2. You must own land.
3. You must have had at least two years of service in the military in some way

Law disputes are decided by the Archon, with heavy input by the Iocus.

Iocus selections are evry five years, Archons serve for a period of 15 years, with unlimited reelections. If an Iocuser is performing badly, the other Ioci can exile him with a 3/4 vote.

Don't go and check out what I was doing in the early half a dozen turns of TerraNES then.

On a more serious note, I've reupdated my post and added some background on it. Will provide more as needed.

I would like to announce that the First Wave experiment failed in my opinion. Why? Because every "cradle" is located in Europe.

Now no one can make a nation anywhere else without suffering penalties, this is extremely bad. Not only is it trapping players to the Mediterranean region in what was supposed to be a world spanning game, it does not accurately represent all those who signed up for the NES. It takes away many of the reasons some of us wanted to play the NES all because the players in that time zone all felt like playing european nations.

I will attempt to create a nation out side of Europe to see how it goes and highly encourage like minded players to create a nation in a similar region so that there is less stress on Erez.

Well, Europe is the most interesting part to make a nation in my opinion. There wa the Greeks, Romans and Germanic Tribes. Your preference though.
