Escape From Zombie Island 2 ready for public consumption

I'm glad you like it and I'm glad that you think that it's tough. Some people have said it's easy but they must be real Badasses! ;)

I doubt if there's much mileage left in this scenario. It should be treated for what it is which is a self contained, playable and fun scenario that will give a couple of hours of enjoyment (and perhaps fond memories in old age). I think I'd be stretching the concept a bit if I tried to expand on it (not that I'm bereft of ideas) but it would lose something that you only get when something novel comes along - hence why very few sequels are as good as the original.

Good point, although by "sequel" I mean, perhaps, some kind of continuation of a similar concept headed by you. The realm of cheesy sci-fi and horror films has much to offer!

For instance: Giant ants!!

Seriously though, I'd love to see future scenarios like this one, be it giant ants, zombies, martians, giant monsters, or all of the above!

Of course finding units would be difficult, damn it all!

Very cool scenario, i played it with zombies on deity and won :crazyeye:

I hope there will be sequel, because i just love those postapocalyptic scenarios :mischief:

Nice scenario!

I'm still in the confusion zone, trying to figure out resources and units (I'd never expect Marines to be resources), but it is good. The advisories comments are very funny!

You just bumped a year old scenario.......
And you're jealous, that your scenario isn't good enough to be bumped ?

I have to agree. If he had not bumped this I would not even know it existed. I am loking forward to it. Now if I can only find a good Godzilla scenario al la the old Crush, Crumble, & Chomp game....

This scenario is AMAZING! :goodjob:

It's a small scenario (so small that I even did micromanagement on the cities for a good while!), but very innovative and fun.

The only thing that is confusing is the landscape as a lot of buildings makes it hard to see (I actually play with the terrain hidden). Off course the resources and stuff takes a while to get used to, but that is just the usual with out-of-the-ordinary scenarios.

But let me tell you - it is HARD!
I've played with the SURVIVORS and lost.
I've played with the MILITARY and lost.
I'm playing with the COMPANY and don't have much hope...
Next time I'll try the Zombies... I think that will be easy!

I wonder if there will be a sequel...

I know the scenarios good, I jsut don't like people bumping old threads, expecially ones where teh creator of the thread doesn't go to CFC anymore, because then people keep asking him/her questions, and get no answers, then they complain, etc.

where teh creator of the thread doesn't go to CFC anymore
KingArthur hasn't disappeared, i contacted with him via pm ;)

bump

Seriously, if anyone has any queries or probs with the scenario or even just wants to say it's a great scenario then PM me rather than bump this thread. I think that is the desired protocol.

Sasebo reported a small bug that I may or may not try to fix. If you play any civ but the zombies and take over the graveyard you will get zombie units being auto-produced for you! This doesn't seem right so I may have to remove that building or give it a different purpose. It may be that I just need to flag it as requiring a particular government and assign it to the Zombification "government" which should make it unavailable to the other civs. I'll test it and upload a new biq if it works.

Honestly I don't see why "bumping" should be frowned upon in the scenarios forum.

IMHO scenarios should not be fashionable programs at one time then fall into oblivion, especially when they are for C3C = they won't be outdated before Civ IV, maybe even later.

Scenarios are "big" products that can interest lots of people but not all are at CFC right now or looking for scenarios right now so bumping them "shows" them and it also means they can still evolve (bug report, new ideas). And as Plotinus said (and I guess KingArthur probably feels the same way) it is quite a pleasure when you see interest in your scenario : considering the time necessary to make a scenario this is a small fee to pay.

I agree some not-so-great-hardly-done scenarios don't need that publicity but usually there is not much interest in them anyway. Besides Escape from Zombie Island is very fun and original so I don't see why it should "die" and rest forever. And if someone has a bug-report or new idea, better put it here for everyone to enjoy.

Well, my 1.5 cents....

FYI In another thread, Chieftess said it was OK to bump these
threads as long as it was to actually discuss the scenario....

Ok I fixed the small Graveyard bug and couldn't help tweaking a few things more. There's a new graphic for the Company's Security men, a new unit for the Survivors (Ms Tokugawa) to help out, ****-800s (Company Cyborgs) and Zombie Nurses. I'll include an alternative road terrain file too that has smaller buildings. I've requested FTP access but won't be able to upload it till Monday.

NEW VERSION :)
This update "fleshes" out a few civs giving the zombies 2 new units and the company 1 new unit plus a change in one of their existing graphics. So now you need to watch out for Graveyard swarms, Zombie Nurses & Company Cyborgs. The survivors get 2 new units: a little love interest for our Hero; and Hand made "tanks".

The city-scape terrain has been changed. If you want to use the original or another alternative then just rename the ROADS.pcx files in the Escape From Zombie Island/Art/Terrain folder.

Any problems let me know.
