Escape From Zombie Island 2: The Remake

I started two games last night, one as the Survivors and one as the Authorities.

I love the character that the Survivors' units have, the types of units and the sounds really add to the game. Really good. Each one adds to that B movie atmosphere. I must have restarted their first turn a few times until I managed to save the Reverand, the first time I wasn't expecting those zombie bats and so the reverand went up to the spirit in the sky, finally managed to save him without having to use Freddie, who captured Sam Hammer. The Rushmobile has been running over the undead beep beep as it ferries my survivors to safety of Mike's garage. Currently working on hooking up sewer access to as many buildings as I can right now, I am worried about the hospitol to the north but I dont think I can do much about it right now, even with Vuldacon's ninja skills :D

I also gave the Authorities a quick spin out as well. The difference in play is palpable, they seem much more powerful than the survivors and I can go on the offensive to clean the streets, although I still have to be careful about not losing units at the start. I managed to save the hospitol, but lost the marine with the bombard ability, I think I might regret that. The SpecOps guy found Sam and now escorting him to safety, whereever that might be. I am trying to work out how to recapture the amoury quickly.

Great fun, and looking forward to the update.

Dr Tiny... Sounds like you have a good game going. Yes, the Authorities do have the Few SWAT available from the start but take care to distribute them well to guard your Buildings. Especially those with fewer Units such as City Hall. It has been mentioned that City Hall should have more Units but fewer units there was intentional because City Hall would not have many Fighting Units there when this Zombie Horror first began. It is left to the Player to use Strategy and the available units to Guard that and other Buildings. :p There is a very good way to save the Hospital as well. :)
...as the Survivors, Reverend Simmons needs to be guarded from the 1st turn. Hint- there is a Civilian up there and Skyscrapers increase Defense, hmmm. The Rushmobile is good to Run Over a Zombie and can transport two, hmmm. Just "set up" a way to protect the Reverand on turn one, then get him back to safety. Remember that the Rushmobile will not Guard another Unit because it is a "King" Unit...that means it will fight last when it is with any other Unit.

...The Update will be Challenging and more Fun with more Surprises and additions. The Civilopedia has also been improved as well as correcting the minor errors found after the initial Release. Final Testing now.

Vuldacon: You mean I was supposed to send a civilian to protect the Rev.??? And here all this time I've been using Mike Rush to do it... I love howthere are 'puzzles' for the Survivors and the Authorities to figure out, the first couple turns, if you want to do well. I still feel that having Elvis and the Dalek guy in the Conference Centre does not really work well. if you are strong enough to rescue them, you are strong enough taht you don't really need them; the Conference Center is one of the strongest buildings the Zombie owns.

I have some advice for Dr. Tiny and anyone else starting a new game. firstly, go for the hospital first; its a real PITA, and gives you a great benefit when you take it. Same thing with the Graveyard, you eliminate a free unit producing city for the Zombies, that will really help. Plus, the Hospital is likely the only zombie city with sated alphas defending it. Makes it a heck of a lot easier to take.

Keep an eye on the Radio Station after the first day; if it falls, which it does a LOT of the time, take it back fast, or you are doomed. You'll know why when you see them....

Keep an eye on the trade screen too; it's often possible to link a supply net with the Companies. If they have dogs available for trade, snap them up! Dog units are really superb. putting one in every city will help you with spotting invisible units, and they are great value for the cost.

Sasebo... Well, not that anyone is "Suppose to" but it is a way provided. There are other ways as you have discoverd for yourself :goodjob:
There will be another Task such as this in the Update for the Company.

The radio station fell in my current game, I had not realised at first nor did I know what was going to happen: Mr Tokugawa, Ms Tokugawa and an old war vet....gone, but so is the beast that took them out! My fiance thought something awful had happened as I said a bad word pretty loud when it happened, she had no sympathy when I told her.....

I almost want to restart, would that be bad? hehe

I have 3 or 4 champs and the rev to try and take the radio station back, unfortunately they are up near the hospitol having just captured it. I am worried I left my attack on the hospitol too late...turn 15 or so I think. The Furniture store is surrounded by dogs and zombies, but has a sewer access, and close to the radio station and another of those things is going to spawn soon.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

If you are in serious trouble in mid-late game, all you can do is try to scape.

The fact is as a survivor, you main task is to scape, tough its not hard to conquer if you play your cards well.

My recommendation would be, take a few hero units you have left, bombard able units are a must, also bring em up with some minions, load em in the few cars you migh have and rush your way to the Airport!

Hope that helps :goodjob:

i started a game as the survivors, 12a, with the new update.

1. The bat that the zombies start with is tough! it took out Mike Rush, little Johnny, and Freddie before i killed it.

2. This definitely seems harder than it was (which is good) Mostly because of the increased minimum research time i think.

3. On the scenario introduction i noticed some things:
Authorities "The authorities need to keep public opinion on side so can't flatten the entire island on the first turn" shouldn't it say "on their side so they can't flatten . . . "
Company: "The company knows . . . The Company also have . . . " Is The Company singular or plural? (should be know or has)
Farmers "Zeb is using the opportunity of a Zombie apocalypse to reclaim what he rightfully believes belongs to him" I think it should say ". . . what he believes rightfully belongs to him" (rightfully talking about belongs not believes)(maybe this one is nitpicking)

4. The update sheet said that "Krighter" would be in Company HQ for the company - I cant find him?

5. The zombie dogs should require the dogs resource in my opinion. I know this has been discussed but the units are just too good to not require a resource. I think they are better than the nurses, nuclear, or mutant zombies because they are faster and they can see the spunky kids. Speed kills in Civ 3.

I'll keep up the testing, but most everything looks great! The new buildings work well, and fit in perfectly.

Nowell... send me your E-Mail address and I will get the Correct Biq to you.

I have not edited the Text files you mentioned, I believe those were written long ago... looking into them now.

The Main Reason why the Zombies do not require Dogs as a Required Resource is because it would limit them far too much in the game. I personally tested this.
Initially, I had the Dogs Resource set as Required for All Zombie Dogs.
The AI does not connect roads as fast as a Human Player and the Zombies cannot build Sewer Accesses. Making the Dog Resource a requirement would Limit All Zombie Dogs to only the buildings that have the Dog Resource until much later in the game when and if the Roads are connected to other buildings to allow any of the Zombie Dogs to be built in them.

Yes, the Zombie Dogs are better than other initial Zombies due to the number of moves. That is intentional because the general zombie units are limited basically to one square for most units until later in the game.

Dalek is awesome. I used it to fry so many zombies... Elvis isn't that good IMO though.

Depends on how old you are...I kind of get a kick out of the King unit. Plus, I like the nice touch of how you have to get the Gold Record to "inspire" him. I can just see that scene in my mind....

I did get the Dalek unit finally, in a game I was testing as the Farmers. I TOTALLY agree, I just about died laughing when I heard the attack sounds, I want to zap MORE!!! Too Funny!

Dr. Tiny: You can get the Station back, since they tend to leave it to go hunting... Get your ranged units over there, as much attack power as you can spare, then hit it for all you are worth. You can survive some of them, just get it back ASAP. Staying on the Skyscrapers in the meantime would be a very, very good idea. I assume you have Sniper King Arthur by now, by all means bring the big guns!

Oh, and don't worry about the hordes roaming around your cities. They can be annoying what with sitting on your best resource squares, etc.,but as long as your defenses are solid, they usually won't attack you all out. Just squat behind your fortifications, and snipe whatever you can. This scenario has a real siege mentality to it. ;)

I don't mean it that way, I meant that the unit isn't that useful. It has to run up to a unit to bombard it. So I can't effectively use hit and run tactics without the use of a car.

Due to many comments regarding Elvis Putnam and Jeff Morris, both are being addressed as to being stuck in the Conference Center (2nd strongest Zombie Building) and the strength and moves for Elvis The King as well. Those units will be more accessible where they can be Rescued and used for more Fun.

Bluemofia... Elvis The King will be more effective but will not "Bombard" 2 squares...that would be too far for him. That said, you will be able to "Hit and Run" if you do not use all his moves Bombarding...and BTW, Cars are very useful for transporting so not sure why that would be any problem concerning Elvis.

Busy Schedules going on but as soon as the testing is complete, we will get the update uploaded.

Didn't he only have 2 moves previously? So he would walk to the square, bombard, and then sit there. If he had 3 movement, that would be useful, for he can run back.

I was using the cars for other purposes, and couldn't spare one for Elvis.

I'm not sure how you all have been using them, but in my experience even the nastiest Zombie units will not attack a large stack of powerful units. So Elvis and Zeb and other range 1 attackers have never been a problem for me. Just run up to your target with your posse(preferably a decent terrain square if possible) and then blow them away. Works like a charm! :mischief:

Have seen very odd things happen at times. Had one game where I took the Radio station back from the Zombies and only managed to put the . .. .. .. .-800 unit in there. He was surrounded by 25+ units, I expected for him to quite likely die, but I was desperate to prevent another Horror from spawning, which was due the next turn. The Zombies ran away...

Had a second time in a similar situation there with the Farmers, and was able to throw 4-5 units into the building, because it already had a sewer access. I expected them to run away, and instead they attacked en masse. Bubba whupped them though. ;)

Finally returned from the perils of RL and have DL'ed new 'testing' version ... playing Company.

Initial reaction is very impressive evolution to the game well done everyone :wow:

Have noticed that the scientist Dr. Lazar who upgrades to the Manbot unit is absent, is this correct?
EDIT ... Found him hiding in a cupboard in the Executive Club ;) ... should there be a pedia entry for this building?

Also the CEO Helecopter cannot take passengers nor can it perform recon?

 You guyz are just toooo surreal  ... unexpected and brilliant 'champion' for the Company :p
 It's a pity can only upgrade in your capital and no other building, :hmm: If the chopper had room for 1, it could be used to ferry them to capital for upgrading from other end of island.

Regarding Executive Club, as mentioned i took from Zombies,
I noticed that this location contains Electric Generator, Machine Shop and Flesh Eating Bacteria icons is present in the 'city improvements' window. While I assume the first 2 are present for gaming reasons (even though it it not logical) Should not the Flesh Eating Bacteria icon not be shown unless you are playing the Zombies???

I have discovered Supply Drop technology and now have an option to build Engineers.

Question when can I upgrade existing Handymen to Engineers?
EDIT ... worked it out  only one building so far has access to Tools and unfortunately it is not linked via sewers yet and I also cannot upgrade from this location.

Also noticed that Delivery and Company cars both use same graphics ... are you waiting for a different graphic to be made/completed? If not then perhaps scrap one and have 2 of the same type assigned.

I thought the helicopter was invisible and cant be destroyed by zombies:confused: so you can fly about at leisure, i think all factions have something or the sort.
