European release date?

At this stage we'll have to wait and see.. I hope 19th is the Steam unlock day which means I'll get to play it early :D

Sssth, silence! If Steam did a mistake, I don't want remember it!
I hope that release will be 19th june :D

Steam has always been very hit and miss with release dates. It's always a possibility that the release date has been brought forward, but it's most likely another one of their slip ups and will be corrected on the 19th.

I've had a single experience when a game came out earlier than it would've in UK/Ireland. that being Portal 2.. Portal 2 had two diffrent dates for release as far as I remember, and as far as Wikipedia is concerned.

So it hink for those who pre-order via steam for those extra cash might actually get it early..

Its moments like these that make me happy I live in Iceland.

I am technically European, but I live in Iceland which means that for some reason I get to pay in dollars instead of paying the unfairly high European prices like the rest of you and get to enjoy the same release dates as Americans! :p

I think Portal 2 was originally slated to be released later outside the US, but they had a pre-launch event where the community did challenges to unlock it early (for everyone). It was certainly a special case.

I'm thinking the 19th date for Europe and the rest of the world is just a mistake in the listing. I would, however, love to be wrong. :)

Something tells me it might be a normal release date.

Originally it was stated that English was the only available language, yet, it was changed, but my date remained the 19th.

So WHO KNOWS!

may you that live in europe find good luck with a early release date and hope its NOT a typo.:)

It wouldn't make a lot of sense to withhold the downloading for several days for the rest of the world. Heck, if they're afraid of an overkill of downloads, they should have put the Europeans in the first place. With a population more than double the size of North America, I presume there are more fans in Europe as well and it would only increase the imbalance in downloads if they put them together with the rest of the world.

It's not about the downloads, but about the different days of distribution for shops between Europe (friday) and the US (tuesday).

With vanilla civ it was the same.

There is a big diffrence. For those who purchase physical copies will not be affected by the "downloads" because they get it quicker via the CD (like Civ 5 came with)

But since I pre-ordered, I have no physical copy of it, so I'll have to download it.

Same with Portal 2, which I got earlier.

Are you saying that the different release date (June 22) only applies to retail copies? In other words, the Steam release will be June 19 worldwide?

I've noticed also that the Wikipedia page has been updated to have only one release date -- June 19th.

I don't really think anyone knows for sure at the moment. You would have thought that Steam would have noticed a mistake like that by now if it is indeed a mistake? I would happily pay the extra money to buy the Steam release if i knew i was going to get it earlier... as i'm off all that week. :)
