This has be bothering me for some time (and by that I mean since yesterday) do people actually want to live forever? Be it either the myth of the lost foundation of youth or the stories of vampires there has been a human fasicination will eternal life and particularly eternal youth. Is this the case? Are there people on these forums that would let to live forever? If given the option, would you take it?

I have tried it and really must say a few things, but we don't really have enough time to cover it all.

On one condition. If my wife can also live forever, then yes I would like to.

I would spend a lot of time in labs & libraries for the first few centuries. There is so much about the world to know, and so little time to learn it all. Very frustrating.

I would want live until i didn´t wanted anymore that would be cool.

I wanna live for ever.
Why?
Cant get enough of life.
Same reason as im trying to wean myself off sleep completely :)

Who wouldn't want to live forever? If you live forever, you can learn and learn and learn, until you know it all. And then --- the bragging begins.;) ;)

i dont want to live forever if all my friends and family die. Also would u increasingly become frailer i mean personally i dont want to live beyond 75 life just gets pathetic. If you say my family n friends live forever and i will stay at the level of fitness of say a 25 year old i would if no to either of those i wudnt want to live forever

100 years is well enough to learn everything you need and want know. Not a chance I would want to live forever. I would like to celebrate the new year 2100 though :)
If you mean spirital everlasting life, no way. I hope I'm dead when I die:)

I would love to live "forever" except it would probably get unpleasant after the sun engulfed the Earth. Certainly a thousand years would be nice, then I wouldn't feel like I was being lazy right now...

I wouldn't wanna live forever, but a couple of centuries...I like the idea of that. It should be a bit of a god-mode though, a more observing kind of life, not so much participating as much as in normal human life so to say. A bit like Highlander. :p

Talk about all the pressure being off. I could study any subject I wanted, embark on any project, no matter how foolishly ambitious, and really clean up on long-term low-yield investments. By the year 3000 if I wasn't the world's richest person, I'd be doing something wrong.

I am going to live for ever... or die trying ;)

No I don't think that I would like to live forever, though I can see some advantages in it.

If they dont invent some longevity treatment during my lifetime I will be very very dissapointed.

Not forever, but a couple thousand years with the option to commit suicide whenever I want will do.

Think about all the books you'll read, all the music you'll listen to, all the new scientific discoveries and electronic gadgets you'll see, all the historical moments...

The world is huge, and the possibilities to find something exciting to do are endless. So I dont plan to get bored, at least not in the first couple millenia.

I have pondered this question much recently....I am unsure. I would like to live for a long time and see how things change.

there's no way i would want to live forever. what would you do when the earth gets wrecked by an asteroid? i'd rather live a normal life and pass like the rest of humanity... unless i was a vampire... that would be cool! :D

Sure, I'm on it. And as Eli said, I will be dissapointed if they don't come up with something. Gene, or Nano - tecnology must be able to solve this for us. <-- This will prob also solve the be young and heathy for the never ending life.

o, joy... only waiting and hopping...
(If I die, I wont remeber, and if I don't remeber what's the point. This wisdom also works with drinking :) )
