Evil Atheist Thread

The belief in atheism is disturbing indeed.

The belief in atheism is disturbing indeed.

How? The fact that we don't submit ourselves to some unknown deity/being and devote our lives to this myth only because everyone else says so is disturbing to you? I find the gullibility of religious fanatics more disturbing.

i AM an atheist. and i was being contradictory. ( or however you spell it!)

the belief that the belief that atheism is a belief is disturbing indeed is disturbing indeed.

(before this goes on we ought to be clear about what we mean by belief...)

I find your complete inability to understand what motivates a lot of religious people to be a good reason not to take your opinion of religion too seriously . . .

I think most people understand the fear of dying. And the fear of never seeing your loved ones after they die. And the fear of our existence being totally meaningless.

What else is there to understand?

As an atheist, I'm with Eran on this one. The standard kid atheist theories of religion are ill-informed and silly. All religionists are dogmatic fairy-tale believing sheep just as much as all atheists are rebellious goth kids who want to seem like daring nonconformists.

I find that people more often use Religion to support evil deeds than Atheists , Atheism for theres. Probably because Atheism is simple mathematical logic while Religion is a faith. When we start seeing Churches of Atheism then it becomes Evil Religion again.

Ok, give me 1 good reason.

I believe because of personal spiritual experiences.

Now, you can make the case that these experiences were not really from God, but from my own mind, and that they don't really tell me anything about the universe. You might even, in the event, be correct. But fear has nothing to do with it.

A religious or spiritual person chooses to believe there is a God, an atheist chooses to believe there isnt one. Neither possesses ultimate knowledge of reality, both believe whichever suits them best. Two competing belief systems.

Atheism is not even that, it is merely the non-belief in any kind of god. Many atheists may found their non-belief upon, or support it by, mathematical logic (I know I do) but it is not necessary.

Atheism by itself, having no overarching organization or ideology, has a hard time motivating any sort of deed, evil or otherwise. For that, you need something more.

There are many ideologies that either explicitly reject God or have no place for God, and some of these ideologies have been used to justify evil acts. Atheism itself can't inspire these acts, but that is because athiesm is a fundamentally different thing from theism.

What spiritual experiences?
Did you witness a miracle? talk to an angel?

Im really curious now.

Yeah but I think most atheists are agnostics. I cant prove theres no good, just as I cant prove theres no flying spaghetti monster.
