Evil Atheist Thread

Therefore, all atheists are evil and must die. Then go to hell. Then die there and go to a sub-hell.

And once there, they will crash planes into the buildings of sub-hell. If there is one thing for which atheists are noted, it is poor piloting skills.

Well, of course. There is no reason to tell someone if they don't ask, or it is none of their business. But would you ever pretend not to be for the sake of avoiding an argument? I guess if your parents aren't religious, or don't ever go to church, or ask you, or anything, there is no reason to tell them . . .

My father attends church weekly (though he doesn't concern himself much with which Protestant sect the church might be). He knows we don't attend church regularly, and occasionally hints that we should do so (or expresses his disappointment that we don't). My mother attended Catholic mass weekly prior to her passing two decades ago. I don't get into theological discussions with anyone in my family - I let my wife (an evangelical Christian) do it, and nod sagely where appropriate. But as to the various perverted stuff? Does saying "we were out late at a party last night" instead of "we were at a play party at a friend's house, where I tied up my wife and beat her, everyone had a great time" count as pretending to be something we're not?

Good lord, pick from the list. Being a gun-nut? (I've kind of let that one out of the bag, mostly.) Being into recreational hypnosis? Being into BDSM? Being into other fetishes that are even less socially acceptable?

Oh come on now, comparing atheism to BDSM is ridiculous.

I love the people who I love for who they are - and not just because they happen to be related to me.

If someone loves a mask I wear instead of loving the real me - what's the point of having 'loved ones' in the first place?

Sure, there are things that are private and that you keep to yourself - such as my balloon fetish. Nobody needs to know about that! But philosophical views regarding the nature of reality? What is this, grade 4?

No, they don't need to know details.

If asked directly whether you believe in God or not, how would you answer?

Hmmm... If it was one of my more faithful aunts, I'd say I do. If it was my sister or one of my less blatantly faithful cousins, I'd say I don't. If it was my dad, I abstain because I'm really not sure.

Admittedly, that influences people more than it should. I have seen people use emotional blackmail even to keep people from leaving their own sect - "if you leave our church for another, I will stop loving you" or "you were born Religion X, you have to stay that way forever" - and sometimes it works.

Nah, that'd just encourage them.
Then it should be done repeatedly. Just look how much respect Muslims enjoy because everyone is afraid of criticizing them. Even though everybody knows 'these were bad Muslims', and `true' Muslims, that are the vast majority, are not like them. :D

I mean, it would garner sympathy for DI, not atheists.

I don't know, I am beginning to doubt whether "true" anything exists. There are no true Muslims, no true atheists, I hope at least the acolytes of Cthulhu are sincere!

It's a shame, eh?

IMO, the more people go against the grain and express their true views, the less a problem this will be in the future.

Honesty > Comfort

Ah yes, you need to be mature to be an atheist... but religion accepts you as soon as you are conceived! (lucky you) /snide
Indeed - if someone isn't mature enough to make an informed decision on religion, I'm not sure how the conclusion is that they must be religious! I would say the opposite. Babies aren't born religious.

SMITE THEM EVIL ATHEISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, right.

Even the great atheist prophet Dawkins now is all but a hypocrite. For singing Christmas carols, no less.
Can you sing something while meaning the opposite? Can Professor Dawkins be truly merry at a carol concert while publicly excoriating the “time-consuming, wealth-consuming, hostility-provoking rituals and anti-factual counter-productive fantasies of religion...”?

Or should he stay true to himself, and stick to a verse or two of Frosty the Snowman?
