At least they accurately define 'athiest' vs 'agnostic'. I get tired of people using stupid term such as 'strong athiest' and 'weak athiest' to mean 'athiest' and 'agnostic'. They are not at all the same; that is why there are different words for them.

I agree, Dont we Christians put up enough with being persecuted and hated just because were Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican/Episcopal, Protestant, or Mormon?

Isn't Christian persecution celebrated by Christians because it was prophesized, and thus backs up your beliefs?

I mean, persecution allows you to turn the other cheek more often! That allows you to be the best Christian you can!

I do be offended about it, mainly because I see the Holy Bible not to be questioned since it is the word of God. I do take some parts of the bible literaly and other parts irrelivent to the new covenant.

So you don't think, when the math has been done wrong, it should be pointed out?

This website quotes the Scripture in English!

Don't they know it's a sin to translate the Holy Scripture?

Bold by me.

If I don't believe in the bible then why can't I question what it says? Are you going to persecute me and tell me how I must act so as to not offend the members of a religion I don't believe in? Why would you care what non-believers do?

Ask yourself, is it O.K. to impose your religious morality upon others?

Oh please. While I think the OPost is bit of a troll and unnecessary, I'm a bit sick of this BS about Christians suffering so much. Please list for me all the ways you've been persecuted? Were you sent to jail for your religious beliefs? Beaten? Denied a job? Fired from a job? Denied medical care? Just how, exactly, have you been persecuted?

As for "hate", people reap what they sow. Other than internet forums, which I really don't give much relevance, I see few signs of "hate" in the broader culture. When I do see it, its in response to behavior and usually appropriate.

sidenote: my comments reflect my perception of US culture, your mileage may vary.

Your "HOLY BIBLE" commands persecution and death of nonbelievers, etc. If it isn't correct why include the commands? Wouldn't that just lead to confusion and nasty mass murder things like the inquisition?
Thoes are old commands from the old covenant, Old Hebrew Laws. The Old Testiments only explains as well as tell the history of Christianity before Jesus. You do have to take into acount that the early Jewish people were under a lot of threat in the region that they lived in. Plus there are many version of the Bible. I only use and go by the Douay-Rheims and the NAB Bible and I see no such clames that the heretical site clames.

That site......is typical of an atheist, persecuting something they know nothing about by simply grabbing a few good "quotes" from it. My favorite one is, "God ordered the murder of 70,000 innocent women and children israelites". Yup he did, but typical of an atheist they dont bother with the whole rest of the bible. We are bad people, God is perfect, besides the fact that he created us he has the rite to kill off whomever he pleases. In truth, we should all be dead anyways already.

I know exactly how you feel about this Shane. I often feel the same way when people start complaining about all the civil rights they have lost while Bush has been president.

I often tell other christians when they complain like that to "hold onto your horses....you aint seen nothing yet".

I do tend to think Christians will be eventually persecuted as predicted in the bible, but we are currently a LONG way away from that. Thank goodness.

No problem. I do find it interesting that humans get to decide which parts of god's holy book you want to take as literal truth, which parts as story for illustration purposes and which parts you choose just to ignore.

Perhaps you could use this forum to enlighten some poor heathens as to what your version of the bible says for these quotes because they sure come off as intolerant to me.

Ever heard of a man named Abdul Rahman? an Afghan Christian who converted from Islam to Christianity who was put on trial because he broke Islamic Law in regards to apostate. Over where Christianity is not a religious majority, Christians are persecuted by the religious majority.

There is so much proof of Christians being a victim of persecution Here

Its really kicking up places other than the U.S though......

besides the fact that he created us he has the rite to kill off whomever he pleases

... cough ...

Anyway, CivG, for New Testament killing instructions, read the last verse of Romans 1.

We dont decide, Jesus died for our sins. Like I said, this sight is full of typical atheist outlook on Christianity. They read little snippets of the bible and take what they need from it to make it look bad.

I actually agree with you about this, but it won't be us agnostics leading any crusades. :)

This is why I personally feel the whole world would be better off without any religion at all as it is too easy to abuse and misinterpret god's message of peace for evil purposes, whether it be crusades, holy wars, book-burnings, etc.

I can't imagine god would approve of so much evil that is done in his name. :(

Those are mostly OT.

The one where two people die after lying to Peter was pretty cute, though.

Or, maybe it just really does look bad. These quotes don't exactly preach peace, love and tolerance for your fellow man now do they?

Why should you fear bible quotes at all, whether they be in small snippets or large chunks? Are the quotes somehow taken out of context? Shouldn't you be proud of your holy book?

How could you worship someone who does not lead by example?
