EX II - The German "Equality" Game

Ok first you should spend a few turns getting evrything in postion. Then cancel all deals with the romans and then Kill. Don't look at destroying all of the romans, it's not realisticly possible. Just go for these targets.

The city up north that were trying to capture peacfully.
The roman city down south that has the saltpeter of doom.
The stupid roman city thats right next to our new Capital.
And then 3, possibly 4 or more cities nere the forbiddon palace city.

After that try to make peace and get as much as possible. We should the be the coolest super power in the game.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Ehem...Sorry about that.

In conclusion, Kill the cities that are stratigicly important and then consolidate our forces along just one front.

Or in english, Burn them, Burn them all.

I'll finally be able to play tonight, and Gojky's plan sounds like a good one. Since we are playing ten turns, in all likelihood the next player will get to fight the majority of the battles. :goodjob:

Well I did it! I declared war on the Romans, for better or worse! As I see it, this war will make or break it for us. Here we go!

1550 - Pre Turn - I assess the possibilities of war against the Romans. They don't have Military Tradition, but I imagine they will get it soon... The only hope is that we will have far more cavalry then they will when we attack. I consult the military advisor, and our army is weaker than the Romans... I also check the trade advisor - we have a trade agreement with them! 11g/turn for gems.... Oh well.. I won't attack until that is finished, in about 8 turns.

1555 - Turn 1 - I notice something significantly wrong - all of our size 12 cities are still producing excess food, but they can't grow! Micromanaging these produces a MAJOR boost in production, with no other ill effects. To illustrate:

Our Capitol - Before - 12 shields/turn After - 26 shields/turn!!!!!
Konigsberg - 15 ---> 20 shields/turn
Munich - 18 --> 21 shields/turn!

In any case, watch out for this - especially in our Capitol - the difference was incredible.

Turns 2 and 3 - 1560-1565 - 6 new cavalry built, military getting bigger! :die!:

Turn 4 - 1570 - Romans have military tradition!!! I knew this would happen, oh well.

Turn 5 - 1575 - Magnetism next turn - I lower our science to add 587 gold to go along with it.. ;) - 3 more cavalry built!

Turn 6 - 1580 - I buy a few barracks in key cities with our cash. The Aztecs dial up wanting to trade Territory Maps, and I agree. - 4 more cavalry built!

Turn 7 - 1585 - Romans have Theory of Gravity, and have entered the Industrial age! We are 4 turns behind them technologically. To add insult, the offer to trade it to us for 1230 gold! Since they will soon be begging to give it to us to save them from annihilation, I don't take the deal.

Turn 8 - 1590 - The trade deal is up.

WAR!!!

First thing, I trade the Iroquois 320 gold for a military alliance. The Iroquois are the only ones close enough to divert the Roman attention.

First Up : SYRACUSE - This is that annoying city close to our Capitol. About 6 Cavalry attack - and 4 musketmen are destroyed!! No cavalry lost!!! I capture this city because with it's proximity to the capitol will be a good producer.

Next: UMTATA - This is one on our southern border - A Roman Stronghold with a population of 8. Two musketmen destroyed, along with a pike and spear. Again, no cavalry lost!!! I just raze this one.

Next: PALYRA - Adjacent to Umtata, on our Southern border. This one doesn't go as well, as several cavalry are wounded, but again, NO ONE lost! And again, the town is razed.

Finally:HLOBANE - This is that annoying city on our northern coast. Easily razed by 2 cavalry.

SUMMARY:

I decide to stop there, as 8 turns still took a long time, and I have started the fire. I figured I'd be considerate and let the next ruler deal with the consequences

Just kidding, it should be fun, although I expect a severe Roman counterattack. I'm not sure I waited until we had enough cavalry, but since I razed 4 cities and didn't lose a single cavalry, I figure we are ok.

On the next turn, 3 cavalry are poised to take the saltpeter city, and 5 more are positioned right outside another Roman city near our Capitol.

The forces in the south are in a bit of disarray, and for this I apologize. :( My intention was to pull the wounded back to be healed, and then I was worried about a counterattack, so I moved some muskets out to cover them. I hope this makes sense..

Good Luck!!!

:rocket:

The zipped save game is too big! hold on while I figure out a way to compress it more...

edit: I don't know what to do....

Can you guys help me out?

mmm.. wasnt expecting war so soon... oh well...
my advice: 60-75% of cities, build defensive units/improvements, the rest build offensive. Once we pick off teh saltpeter city and a couple more for good measure, we should try and make peace. Therefore - we need defense much more than offense . The Romans obviously have a much larger army than ours.

Oh yea - how close are we to finishing off the medieval ages? If we are close, we'll be getting nationalism fer free soon...

Just to clear up a few points -

Last I checked, we were actually equal with the Romans in terms of military size, but we do have a lot of workers.

We are about 3-4 turns from middle ages, but Gojky's right, no free Nationalism!

But Exsanguination since this is an equality game were therfore not scientific so no nationalism for free!

hehe.. It's easy to forget that little detail isn't it..

The next shock, no panzers!

0) Not much here. Changed a few cities to settlers. Upgraded some troops. Traded some things to get theory of gravity so that we can start on steam power straight away.

1) Lose some units to the Romans, counter attack.
Capture Byzantium, we love the chancellor day celebrated worldwide.

2) More losses on our side but for every loss that we have the Romans lose double.
We now have an army equal to that of the Romans.
Huge stack of horsemen come charging up. Look at the pic.

3) Babylon brings in 3 more opponent vs the Aztecs.
Our cavalry manages to kill every last horseman in the big stack of doom.
Frankfurt starts Shakespears Theater, Hanover starts Newton’s uni.
War weariness has begun to set in, we capture selucia.
I go through diplomacy and do every thing that I could. Did you know that we were paying England, who has only 2 cities left, 3gpt for a RoP. I mean they have nothing left and we were paying them. That seems funny as hell.

4) Babylon demands a map and some gold, sure why not.
I finally capture the saltpeter city of Hippo Rogius. However the Romans still have three sources under there control. I finish off a few of the stray roman units and then ask for peace.
I get two cities, Confinium and Palmyra. Gold and the world map. I then trade Rome a right of passage for lots of gold and then gems for tons of gold. Bwhahahahahahahahaha.

5) I begin the large consolidation process. In 6 turns we get railroads and the game will suddenly become much, much easier.

6) Change Koingsberg to a Palace Placeholder for Universal suffrage.
New Hanover settled.

7) Last turn for me, this has already taken 3 1/2 Hours. Lots of worker movement.
There is a settler next to Bremen, which should be made a city at this spot. (Look at the picture.) This fills the gap from the Razing of that city.

Welcome back!

I dont think I have time to play tonight, I'm still at work :( So why don't you go ahead.. I'll play after you.

There are still 18 or so turns in the peace agreement with Rome.. so no war in your turn probably. Maybe you'll want to wait to if you are keen on war ;)

Lat me know..

No prob, I'll pick it up from here - back to the normal rotation:

Exsanguination (playing)
Brian J (on deck)
charliehoke
Phantom12345
Gojky

This is turning into a fun game!!!

1630 - Moved Science counter so we only have 3 turns to Steam Power. I also demanded furs from the weak Indians - they refused. Ah well. During the loooooooong wait, England and Rome declared war on Iroquois, and England and Zululand declared war on the Aztecs.

1645 - WE GET STEAM POWER!!! Let the good times roll!! Good news, and bad:
Good: We have 2 sources of homeland coal.
Bad: We are lacking in workers, believe it or not.

Oh yea, we start on Nationalism - riflemen, mobilization, anyone? (11 turns)

1650 - Persia asks for their territory map for ours. I send Xerxes packing.

1650 - France comes and begs for our territory map. i sen djoan packing.

1660 - Zulu and Rme declare war on the Iroquois. Both the Persians and the French start Newton's.

1665 - Greece and babylon declare war on the Aztecs. France and Rome declare war on the Iroquois

The Romans founded Augustadorum on a good city location. CRAP. On of the last spots left.

1670 - The Aztecs and Americans make peace.

Summary:

nueh. Not much. 10 until Newton's -we should get that. One question - why is Frankfurt building a palace? I take it that it is supposed to a placeholder for something, but what? I believbe its 5 turns till nationalism. Lastly, there is a settler going towars the saltpeter in the south where all the tundra is. DON"T LET ROME GET IT!!!.

The Wars:

Rome, England and France are all allied vs the Iroquois.
England, Zululand, Greece, and Babylon are all allied vs the Aztecs.

Going to war with Rome means war w/ England (who?) and France... risky decision.

Make the decision now - war w/ Rome or democracy. If we choose to leave Rome be, then after we build Newton's we should revolt, and become a democracy. If its war, then destroy em!!!!

I say war, then democracy. Lets try and cripple those damn Romans!!!
