Expansion pack civs...

In the order that I think of them.

Babylon - Never should have been left out in the first place.
Khmers - It'd be pretty damn cool, and Southeast Asia needs some civs
Turks - An obvious one, I think. A civ that fits into nearly any time period.
Ethiopia - It's been an independant African power for nearly 2000 years. That's reason enough.
Vikings - Because playing as the Vikings and going around looting and pillaging is really really fun.
Mayans - We can always do with another Mesoamerican civ.
Sioux - Even if they weren't a great Civ in the sense of the others on the list, it's nice to have a native civ in.
Iroquois - If not the Sioux, they'd be my second choice.
Celts - They strike me as a good counterpart to the Romans. Also, the fun factor.
Portugal - They had one of the earliest and largest European colonial empires
Assyria - The other half of Mesopotamia deserves a place here as well.
Kongo - It was a big country, and it translates roughly to some modern ones. But more importantly, it was a big AFRICAN country.
Korea - I hear putting them in is a good marketing move.
Phoenicians - I'd take them over Carthage, but either one would represent the civilization well.
Hittites - It may seem like an overlap with Assyria and Babylon, but the Hittite Empire was later and further west.
Poland - How could we forget Poland? ;D
Dacians - Seems like a cool civ.
Hawaii - Pure fun factor.
Polynesia - Likewise.
Brazil - Because unless I'm mistaken, we have no modern South American civs

Now, obviously this is too many for an X-Pack, but pick Babylon and the Turks and eight other civs of your choice from that list, and I think you've got a decent product there.

If they had listened at the start, it woulda been Babylon in, Mongols out. Then my list for expansion civs would be:

Mongols, Vikings, Celts, Zulus, Huns, Goths, Turks, Iroquois. The expansion could be called "The Hordes" :viking:

CARTHAGE! Gimmie a C! C!! Gimmie a A! A!! Gimmie a T! T!!........well you get the idea. I so want to play Carthage, probably wind up playing Civ3 till Carthage is in Civ4

I'm not going to hold off on Civ4, but I really, really want Carthage as well.

My List:
Ireland (Leader: James II)

The British King James II as the Irish King? No way. Although he had strong support in Ireland during the "Glorious Revolution" when William & Mary took the throne from him, there's no way to consider him an Irish leader. It has got to be Brian Boru, Michael Collins, or Eamon de Valera.

While as a person of Irish ancestry, I appreciate the Ireland suggestion, I would have to admit that I don't think they qualify as one of the major civilizations that should be included in an expansion. But I'd be up for the Celts to be included. Here's my list:

1) Celts - one of the most dominant cultures over a large chunk of Europe for a significant period of time. Their influence still lingers in Irish, Scottish and Welsh cultures today.

2) Portuguese - very important colonial and commercial power

3) Dutch - see Portugal

4) Byzantines - Continued the Roman empire with a Greek/eastern European twist for centuries after the fall of the western empire.

5) Scandanavians - The Vikings caused major disruptions through out Europe and influenced Irish, English, French (Normandy), and Russian nations not to mention the current Scandanavian nations of Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

6) Turks - Ottoman Empire ended the Byzantine Empire and controlled large swaths of Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe. Turkey remains a major country to this day.

7) Iroquois Confederation - there should be native North American representation. The Iroquois had their own constitution and it is cited as one of the influences on the American constitution.

8) A Mesopotamian civ - as others have pointed out this was the "cradle of civilization"

Sioux wheart realy a civilazation... its like saying put canada in the game, yea it was thear but it has no real sagnificants to the greater aspect of the worlds developments or its history. sioux whear a freaking tribe that never had any empire, and never had more then a few thousand ppl, whear thay even a united tribe or a group of losely net tribes?

scotland and iraland, agin. its like puting canada in.. spet ther more so far, important in history then canada. thay havent done any thing overwhemingly great for history or socity or any thing in gneral exept in thear region.. witch thay hapend to have neem conquered... iraland expecaly hear..

i whold say gaul, even tho not a unified nation or emprie, thay shared a very comman culter that was throw the birish islands, franch, spanin, germany, austria, hungry, and northren italy. as far as greece.. thay are very difrent from msot tribale ppl, thay whear much more settaled and developed compered to say the goths, vandals ect..

i whold say
gaul
babylon
iraqui *sp, the indians from the new york, thay are the only north american native ppls worth puting in the game*
maya or what ever south american civ was left out *maya or inca, not BRAZILIANS!!*
korea
siam
ottomans
zululand

DUTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

carthage, celts, ottomans, mayans, babylon, byzantine, DUTCH DUTCH DUTCH DUCTCH DUTCH DUTCH DUTCH

And Quebec :)

yes the dutch, but y the hell quebek?? what exacly have thay contibuted... TO ANYTHING?!*but them selfs, as all ppl do.. i gess utimatly..*

Quebec has a unique culture, but they have done nothing to deserve being called their own civ.

@VC - Look at some Canadian history, and you will see that they have had some signifigance in the world, though not enough to be a civ.

Australia, no doubt about it. :mischief:
Seriously the Maya, Carthaginians, Byzantines, Vikings, Huns, Goths and Ottomans should all be there. There should also be a British Commonwealth civ which includes Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc, but that probably wont happen :(

The Yanemani (spelling?) in the Amazon region of Brazil would be fun. Of course, all the units would have to be nude. I have yet to see a UU with a blowgun or canoe. These Amazonians would fit in just fine!

I Beg to Differ about that, The Pueblo of The American Southwest seem like a logical Choice too, Sophisticated Religious System, Beautiful Pottery, and the fact they gave birth to North America's Greatest builders prior to European Times, THE ANASAZI.

I vote for:

African Pygmies.
Pacific Island Cannibals.
Oompaloompas.
The lollypop guild.
Cajuns.
Mormons.
Droogs.
Deadites.
French Canadians (I just made that one up).

In short, it really doesn't matter. The mod makers in this forum will create anything you want.

We definetly need Oompa Loompas. Those guys are just freaking awesome. And all their diplomacy has to rhyme with Oompa Loompa Doompity Doo...

Their holy land is in Pennsylvania? ;)

OLX, Pueblo Indians (maybe Hopi?) are cool choices as well. I'd definately say they are worth considering. The Souix, although famous in American lore and posessing a very interesting culture, were nomads and probably shouldn't be considered.

EDIT:
Oompa Loompa Dompety Dee
If you are wise, you would listen to me
Oompa, Loompa, Dompety Dar
Get out of my territory, or I'll declare war

I love it :D

Why is the inclusion of Babylon so important? From what I know, the Babylonian history isn't too large and it was really only Babylon for the most part. To me, it makes as much sense as including Athens as a seperate civ. Personally, I'd include the Assyrians or the Sumerians over them.

Wish list:
-Carthage
-Hebrews
-Siam
-Assyrians
-Ottomans/Turks
-Scandinavians
-Maya
-Sioux

Maybe this time around they can make expansions by 'era' rather than randomally, or geography.

Like Ancients, Medieval, Industrial, and Modern/Future.

More focused scenarios that way, rather than the scattering from Conquests.
