Now,
what about this game you promised?
1. I am not allowed to Research any techs before 1000 BC. This will improve my trading skills.
2. My first 2 builds in the Capital city must be Scouts to practice exploration, contacts, and trading skills.
3. I am not allowed to build any Ancient Age Wonders.
4. I cannot build any Military unit until horsemen and/or swordsmen are available. (Though, theres a bit of discussion going on between denyd and TruePurple about this).
5. I must always have at least one Worker for each city and I am forbidden from Automating them. They must be used to Irrigate brown, Mine Green, and connect the cities with Roads. Roads = Commerce and Commerce = Gold and Gold = Research, so the more the better.
6. I am to concentrate on expansion, improving my lands and contacting everyone else on my landmass. I am also to use galleys to try to reach other landmasses and meet all of the AIs in the game.
7. I am not allowed to build more than 2 barracks, libraries, harbors or markets. I am forbidden from building temples, colosseums and city walls.
8. I am to try to claim at least 1 Luxury resource, and either Iron or Horses (both would be best) by 1000 B.C.
You will want to research, but you could scale this back to research only two techs before 1000 BC. Your call.1. I am not allowed to Research any techs before 1000 BC. This will improve my trading skills.
Scouting warriors would do the job.2. My first 2 builds in the Capital city must be Scouts to practice exploration, contacts, and trading skills.
Statue of Zeus gives Ancient Cavalry, which could be helpful in a Conquests only game.3. I am not allowed to build any Ancient Age Wonders.
This one has gotta go, unless you are planning on peaceful conquests.4. I cannot build any Military unit until horsemen and/or swordsmen are available. (Though, there’s a bit of discussion going on between denyd and TruePurple about this).
Keep this one.5. I must always have at least one Worker for each city and I am forbidden from Automating them. They must be used to Irrigate brown, Mine Green, and connect the cities with Roads. Roads = Commerce and Commerce = Gold and Gold = Research, so the more the better.
I am to concentrate on conquest, improving my lands and crushing everyone else.6. I am to concentrate on expansion, improving my lands and contacting everyone else on my landmass. I am also to use galleys to try to reach other landmasses and meet all of the AIs in the game.
City walls you might need, but temples and colosseums aren't worth the shields. You will need more barracks, libraries and markets. Harbors on pangea?7. I am not allowed to build more than 2 barracks, libraries, harbors or markets. I am forbidden from building temples, colosseums and city walls.
Oh, yeah. And the sooner you get the luxuries hooked up the better.8. I am to try to claim at least 1 Luxury resource, and either Iron or Horses (both would be best) by 1000 B.C.

I've been thinking about this one. I don't usually pay much attention to any correlation between 1000bc and how many techs I've researched. I think the reasoning in the first game was that he could get several techs from goody huts with his scouts...those, along with his starting techs, would give him a good supply of trade bait.CommandoBob said:You will want to research, but you could scale this back to research only two techs before 1000 BC. Maybe Marsden could just tell me what settings to hit on the game menu.)
