Experimental Graphical features

I just double checked and the grassdetail is in the zip I uploaded here.
"Art/Terrain/Textures/Land/GrassDetail.dds"

I think i know what your problem is here, , ,you have 4. Terrain graphics:, and it take you to a download , but you also have terrain in the attached, so which one is correct??

Both. The links in the modmod titles links to the attachments below.

but they are different, and i just d/led the attached Terrain, it it comes back as a python error for some reason??

I don't see how they could be.

EDIT: From what i see, you left out the very 1st part of CIV4WaterPlaneInfos?? OK that didnt matter, i tried it . .

EDIT EDIT: In featuresInfo i get the attached?? there are 2 more lines added from the SVN, but i dont see a new schema?

EDIT EDIT EDIT: ok i tried all 3 XML's and they still come back with that python error, so it must be something in the dds files ITSELF??
Not sure what could be wrong with the dds files. But TB did mention that there was some strange error messages during the period my water terrain graphics was on the SVN; I hypothesized that it was related to what i did in CIV4WaterPlaneInfos.xml.

Edit:
Ok, I uploaded a new version of terrain graphics, where I've restored the first part of waterplaneinfo.xml; this fixes the ugly error messege you get when you load/start a game with the debug dll.

OK new terrain loads without any errors this time, but again, for me, the ocean is to dark, and now there are "squares" in them when i zoom out a little?? (pic 1)

Also, the grass looks more like a yelloowish (something)?? again IMPO

does everyone like the silver mountains, or would brown be better, or what??

I don't get the squares seen in your screenshot in my games.... strange.
Anyone else getting this?

I hate the mountains as they are and in the next update they will be changed.

I will consider lightening the ocean further, but it will make it difficult to differentiate polar, tropical and regular oceans.

No, the squares would have looked completely different with the square grid toggle mode.

Correct . .

this one is the closest i can get what i like in water color / /

Like SO I am getting the lines/squares. I am also getting a line of ocean between the coastal waters and the land plots.

BtW these are slightly better than the default graphics for me but I still can't play with them for long before getting the same effects as with the default, ie nausea and the copper smell.

I keep looking for Questdogs stuff where is it located?

Questdog's terrain pack is here. I have not tried it with this terrain pack as the base yet.

[offtopic]Sorry Toffer for writing on YOUR thread,

DH, i dont mind the QD's stuff, but i changed the water, to what i attached above, and changed the grassdetail to Toffers, and doesnt look half bad, if your eyes could handle that then>>

I was aiming for something like this with plains:
Spoiler :

I agree that the plains are a bit too yellow at the moment.

I'm still trying to figure out why you and DH get a strange white grid in water tiles, I have yet to reproduce it here.

I don't mind a bit off topic, I myself wondered where Questdog's terrain pack were.

If you were going for plains, just look at the work you wrote (plains) not grass, and besides at least from where i am from i dont see that kind of vegetation hardly anyplace. . and that was not plains, i believe it was "mud", or am i wrong here?

I have not changed the "Muddy" terrain yet. And I haven't changed the name of any C2C stock terrains...

Grass is pretty dark green with some brownishness (dirt) here and there.
Plains is the yellow terrain in your screenshot.

Anyway, i would like a screenshot of yours and DH's graphic option settings; perhaps the reason for the strange grid you reported lies there.

Edit:
@DH: Perhaps this nifty little program (flux) would help on your "screen-nausea" or whatever one should call it. It adjust monitor luminescence intensity dependent on the time of day and can be adjusted for different latitude/longditude.

I find it invaluable for late night computer use.

SO. IMO the blue you suggest is far to bright and would be a strain on the eyes - if in lots of connected tiles. I prefer the existing color, or maybe something only slightly lighter..

As for mountains, I do not mind the silver. But maybe a better graphic would be:

White top, then a little silver, then brown and finally green at the base. So they all merge together. But as I can not do graphics, I do not know if that is possible.

What do folks think about this peak art?
Peaks.jpg

The reduction in texture size from what C2C uses now is: 3415 KB to 813 KB

Since the new peak shares its biggest texture with my new hills terrain the reduction in size from both hill and peak is: 6830 KB to 943 KB

Edit: Next on my agenda is river art.
