Or they walked with the first settler.

Chamsuri can sail W-S on turn 70 to see a bit more.

Everyone settled their capitol on the first turn, we know that from the F5 screen from way back when.

I've been wondering about FREE's capital, too. Here's another composite from turn 68:

The light blue blob corresponds to the relative position of our capital.

I agree with sending Chamsuri W-S next turn.

there is no way their capitol is where ours is. You can see that by looking at the culture borders. All the capitols should have expanded twice by now, and if there is a city there, it hasn't.

I think that there is a city at that spot, though, but I'm not sure.

Good point about the cultural expansion. Well, it appears we did not all get the exact same (relative) starting position. :hmm:

Also… :wow: – the location of Teal Domination really raises my eyebrows. (shown in Played turn update) Either FREE decided to do some ICS right next to their capital, or else their capital is somewhere different from ours.
And they did not care to use the wheat (though only on plains but still 3fpt).

Well we have had our lib for 4 turns (=12 cp), so they must have had 8 turns anarchy (=16cpt) to stay below 100 culture... :nono:

I don't think they should have other towns than their capital with expansions. I don't think they built a temple (or did they? - than watch out for 100k  ) and literature they got four turns ago when their borders were already like now. :hmm:

Well - we know FREE's capital is called "Freedom Central" - and now we know it's not in the same place as The Chamber!
I wonder if they started inland?

If some of the Civs didn't start on the coast, that would be a small boost to our chances of getting the Great Lighthouse!

The latest sightings from our newest curragh are interesting. The safe waters have three unsafe tiles between them.

Isn't this what Aigburth's map predicted?
(you'll have to excuse me, I can't open the map here at work)

Aigburth really had nothing to go on for the beta route since we haven't explored either end of it (relatively speaking of course). I didn't expect the routes to be so close but, yes, the theory we've evolved (based on Aigburth's work) does indeed predict that there be at least three unsafe tiles on any route. I hope the new curragh survives so we can see if there is any land in that area.

We know the other end of the beta route - it's the shallows near The Ways.

Btw, it seems that survival rates in sea and ocean are the same: 50%. So I should have kept Wong Kwon on the coast this turn :hammer2:. Well, keep fingers crossed and all that.

How about a sacrifice of some Dancing fruit to the RNG?

:sniper:

The sacrifices helped! Wong Kwon has found SABER! SABER's vessel is probably sitting on that piece of coastal water to the SW:

Probably SABERland is on the other side of route beta. Should we sail Wong Kwon back to safety and try, say, route Alpha? Or sail round to the north and try that passage?

Hmm... If he lives, I'd say forge ahead. Would be great to scout Saber's coast a bit.

Since back to "safe" waters means risking barbie galley attacks, I too say push ahead.

He's in a tough spot what with the deep waters and the barbarian galleys, but he did a good job. I'd like to see him occupy the shallows 3E and 2S of his current position to block SABER from heading east.

I have updated the editor map to include the latest information received back from CC Wong Kwon: -

As you can see, the 3 tiles of coast visible to Wong Kwon link up to the coastal tile spotted off the NW of our coast and also spotted by Chamsuri to the NW of FREE's coast.

This makes beta crossing currently the safest known crossing, a curragh or a galley only needs to spend two turns in unsafe waters.

Does anyone now think that Chamsuri should head back north and attempt this crossing to the north west of the FREE lands? This would take him to the same landmass as the alpha crossing.

If we've got to get all the way back around with Chamsuri, why not just finish scouting FREE's coast? It won't be THAT much further back.

Otherwise, yeah, probably a good plan since it's so much safer that the original plan.
