I build a wonder for failure gold. Then a distant civilization completes the wonder but I still can continue building the wonder for one more turn. Is it a waste of hammers or do the hammers invested to the wonder during this last turn also convert to gold?

Strange thing about this... Last game (BTS 3.19) I decide to build Great Wall (got quick stone and some bad land for barbs).. but turn when I was ready for 3-population whip, I see message that its built in far away land... just for check (because of this question here) I whip it... and next turn I receive 480 failure gold (on marathon speed Great Wall costs 450 hammers, so I got even more :D )..

Organic hammers will be deferred to the following build. However, if you whip the wonder, you will get the full hammer value of the wonder in fail wealth. So whipped hammers convert to wealth the turn after an opponent finishes the wonder.
