Fallout mod.

Hi, like I said, i'm experimenting on what can be done about FO units that can't be taken from the games for various reasons. As I've dloaded lots of things, most of the time was spent in finding space(finally, there go my FRM's from FO2, :cry: ).

But I've got to play a bit with poser and here's what I came up with.
Tell me what you think, as this was mostly testing. I'll have to see how many directions it must face and other stuff, so changes in the core models can be made(in my convenience of course-means if I want to).

The texture I'm using has number 13 on the back, but I've been thinking, maybe use "8" for Settlers, FO Nuke symbol for workers and 12,13,etc for the fighting units(if I'll do them, so far the settler seems the best bet to be done), and different hair colors, skintones, to differentiate one from the other.

What's your reaction to it?

Herman, MarcusSaurono is correct. Since there are so many cities with trade buildings, it takes about an hour and a half to load. And the turns are quite long in the beginning. But the good news is that as the Martians, the turns get shorter as you wipe out human cities. :D So just persevere, and the turns become thrilling, especially when you first hit Europe or the US. it then becomes REAL exciting as the hordes of humans hit you. :D

Flame, it looks damn good to me. If you feel like you would like to try a stab at it, we could use V.D. unarmored units with pistols, rifles, and assault rifles. :) Along with the Settler and worker units and their job flcs, if possible. I really like the Settler with the G.E.C.K. you have so far, it is lookin good.;)

God I had a long week, but Thor i'll keep my promise and get you those cities!

@flamescreen, That guy is great! I like the idea of having variations of the vault citizen, its a great idea. Will there be a female vault citizen? Plus maybe the leader unit for the vault citizen's should be the vault 13 guy.

What is the next step for the vault guys? Are there the metal armor guys, there might be but I don't remember. Anyway keep up the good work! :goodjob:

I'm also impressed with the settler & GECK. Though he does look a little short of Breath. :lol:

Yeah, he looks a bit tired, but that's a test anim :lol: I'll probably be using a different one for settler. Might keep this for worker(seems logical there). I was thinking about the female, but I don't know(Maybe much later, e.g. my submod?). There are metal guys and other stuff in FoT units Thor is converting, so I'll not do them. I've shown Thor, a past model I made, but I figured I can modify this easier, easier to texture it(Kinboat based)

Reddog, I forgot to mention, that above post on converting, was for you. Get your program of choise and I'll mail Thor the bots in some format your modeller can import(after converting them).

This page states blender imports 3ds. But as I can turn to obj, lwo, etc, it's no problem. As soon as I get the files from Thor I'll convert them.

Well, pick the meaning,

To speed up the progress of; accelerate.
To execute quickly and efficiently: was trusted to expedite the directives of the board.
To issue officially; dispatch.

and I'll tell you. Not too easy without a modeller though, bones need be added to all those babies. If the meaning is for me, I'm just not good enough yet. I noticed someone made a unit that looks quite a bit like the verti recently(a russian heli). Maybe he'd be interested?

Flame, sorry, i did not mean you to do it. Only that we find someone to do the Verti first. I have the V-22 osprey right now as a Placeholder.

You know, I was thinking Wyrmshadow, since he's the most experienced guy in Airforce models. I have Bryce too, so he'd take the model and possibly a texture converted in the format.

But don't mention my name, he seems to have a problem(well, with most to tell the truth) with me, or something.

And lastly, How many buildings are you estimating for each group?
50? 80? I might have to leave one or two (or three?) groups to someone else(who doesn't call me names preferably), depending.

Edit: What unit dimensions are you using? I'm taking Kinboats, which are 140x140(but here 160x160), and noticed yours are 175. Thinking there might be a problem with size there.

Flame, Wyrm has a problem with lots of folks. ;) So do not let it get to you. :D I already asked him if he wanted to help, and he said no. So i am still lookin. :)

The worker with the PIPboy sounds wonderful.

To be quite honest about the buildings i do not rightly know right now. I would like to have each version of the common buildings reflect the civs. So a mutie building does not look like a B.O.S. building. So the first thing we need to do if get the base list of required buildings and then figure out which civ needs it's own version. :crazyeye: But that will require a finalisation of techs, which in turn require me to finish the Placeholder units so we can begin Playtesting. As playtesting is for finalizing such items. :D

Flame, don't worry about the frame size, i had to standardize the sizes to keep the ratio of the different types of units similar. My infantry, bots and vehicles were 175 x 175, the muties are 200 x 200. If you are using Kinboat's models, don't worry about frame size. :)

Hey thor I'll get those files from you later today. Still gonna help, just that I was playing a game I found over the internet and my computer doesn't handle it so well and ym computers temputure shot up from 29C to 35C in about 30 minutes. SO I have to let it cool down for a little while. :D

Like I promised I would, 3d programs that can handle 3ds files:
Anim8or
Draw3d
Blender(latest version)
I had Wings3d somewhere but can't find it, so I'm uncertain if it imports.
Also, Houdini aprentice can handle dxf, obj, which I could convert to, but requires NT I think(probably usable in XP too).

I managed to learn using Poser better, so now I have running and default animations, I'll change something, so I can't post yet, but the ones like death seem more difficult.

Thor, send me one of the death flics you have on the units. I want to examine the possibility of duplicating it in poser.
 
hey i think this civ III/ fallout mod is the best thing that has come out in a looong time for the computer!! :D i have been looking at your pics and reading your posts and i think everything you have been doing is awesome!! i was just wondering if you have a demo for it?? i am still readin your posts but so far i have only seen pics of the game but no mention of downloads!! :( plz get back to me soon cuz this game looks awesome good job you guys :goodjob:
