Was very sad to learn of the death of Gregory Peck. As posted in the thread devoted to him, I loved "To Kill A Mockingbird".

Who was your favorite actor from that era? Let's say actors that were most prominent from the advent of 'talkies' thru 1970.

(BTW, it only recently occured to me that the term 'movies' came about in the way that movies with sound were referred to as 'talkies', if u know what i mean. Just thought I'd inform u all of that :p )

I know, I'm missing a lot, so write them in.

Ok, well, that's all I could think of off the top of my head. As I said, feel free to write them in

Btw, my vote goes to Robert Mitchum. Not sure if he was 'best' actor, but he's my fav of the bunch.

Nicholson.

Sean Connery, of course.
Egad man! That guys like 78 and he's still an action hero! He's awesome!

From that list, my favorite is Humphrey Bogart. Casablanca is possibly my favorite film from the golden era of cinema. Next up would be Gregory Peck with the film Roman Holiday. I also love Sidney Poitier - his stature alone amazes me - of his films I especially enjoyed Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

My favorite actress would have to definately be Audrey Hepburn

Jack "McMurphy" Nicholson, Sean "double o" Connery, Steve "the Cooler King" McQueen, Rutger "Bladerunner" Hauer.
None of these are on your list so I guess I 'm talking about the wrong era.

the 2 I like arent in the poll...:(
Harrison Ford and Charlton Heston

if you included Keanu Reeves the Stallones would be a MUST!

James Stewart:

It's a Wonderful Life
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
The Philadelphia Story
Harvey
Vertigo
Rear Window
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Flight of the Phoenix
etc...
