Favorite AI sayings...

One that always makes me laugh is "Our people grow jealous of your civilization! Only the technology of Alphabet will appease them!" or something like that.
Yeah, then you reply: "You're people are not ready for such knowledge."

Now that I have to see.... Post the .save and state the version of Civ you use, LOL... Hint: it did not happen ;), since that is not in the computer code.

You may have been in Democracy, and declared a Revolution, but your government was not in Democracy at teh instant you made the demand. Here is the maximum number of diplomacy options open to a democracy:

You might even be thinking of "insist you withdraw...", but again, demanding tribute is not possible under Democracy without recompiling the source code. :)

On topic, one of my favorites is the solemn "Our words are backed with NUCLEAR weapons!". LOL, Let 'em fly, AI... your human master is ready for you!

Well, thet WAS on the PS version. They gave me 50 gold, so I switched to Fundy specifically so I could nuke them.
The nuke one is funny. I'd love to reply to that: "Oh yeah, is that right, is it? Well OUR words are backed by SDI Defense AND Nuclear Weapons. Do your worst, beeatch!

Ahhhh.... well, I will admit I've never even seen Civ on a PS, so I'll defer to your observations and conclusions, since it is entirely possible that some things may behave differently on the PS! BTW, do you get a menu option for demanding Tribute in a Democracy with the PS? Just curious :)

You don't get the option to demand tribute even with a PS democracy. The game is basically identical, except the graphics are pretty terrible and the load times are much longer. :(
You can only play on randomly-generated maps though and obviousyl can't play scenarios. :(
But it's better than no Civ at all! :goodjob:

My favorite was when me and Zulu were going back and forth on negotiations and we couldn't reach a deal, I finally said forget it and he says "I have three words for you, 'Take more medication'" I busted a nut laughing

oops thats in Civ III sorry

How about on the coucel when the military advisor wants walls and the trade advisor wants markets, "Would that we wall up your mouth blockhead!"

I crak up every time.

Actually, now that I think about it, I believe it was my ally under democ. U can still request a gift, I am sure. I didn't have chance to look at the non-allies, as they were all 'terribly sorry, but due to pressing affairs of state could not grant me an audience' we'll see how important these affairs are when there are 123 Armor, 98 Marines and 59 Howitzers leering menacingly outside your capital city limits, and in your city you have....2 PHLANX. No, please, I surrender! Please stop your horrible war machine and let me go! PLEASE! ;)

i like the:we will be brothers if you treat us well or something like that next turn they attack me with a warrior.nukes anyone?:D

Yeah, then when you flatten a good three quarters of their civ, they ask for an audience and call you "traitorous infidels" or "untustworthy". What do you expect us to do? Say thank you for the bloodstains outside our City Walls?

"Prepare to taste our steel!" is best of all when you've just refused to give the AI bronze working. Or steel.

I wonder if there's an easy way to have more sayings in the .txt file, or to randomly or sequentially change files during a game. Ideally, we could all contribute to a few hundred new sayings, which will keep everyone entertained. Does anyone know of alternative game.txt's for download?

If only you could edit the PS version in that way. I 1ce put the PS disc in my PC, and it came up with loads of Notepad files and a couple of scenarios. Is it at all possible to edit these to make the PS version a better or more fun game?

unknown spirit,

you could possible use a program like Bleam that runs the PS game on your computer and then edit the files it would use, but as far as playing it on the playstation there is nothing you can do to alter the acctual game on the disk..........legally.

That was a long time ago but IIRC i had a problem with some chinese in the beginning of the game and didn't have resources to support troops and not much to build so i made like 50 diplomats and just parked them outside citys until my troops were able to take it over. The Diplos caused the city squares to become unavailable. I had so many that i just kept them thru the game, germans beat me to leo and by the time i took it it had expired.

I'm pretty sure that diplomats don't make squares unavailable to harvest.

I only saw it once but it was great.
I just starting playing Civ and it was game #2 or #3 and I was getting pummeled by the AI. Switched to fundamentalism and then used a spy to nuke a city. The city blew but the spy was caught??????? “Hmmmmmmm” Anyway the AI responded something along the lines your evil and untrustworthy but we expect no less from you.

"Ships cannot be airlifted, silly".

I got this message once when I hit the airlift key by mistake when the active unit was a ship.
