My favs

Egypt - I dunno why, I don't even normally like Egyptian stuff but they are flexible in the game I think

Spain - They are just so unique and RNG

Ethiopia - Not going to lie when I heard there was going to be Ethiopia I laughed, but I have a lot of fun game with them I think they are put together well

The Celts - Boudicca (I like it splled Boadicea) is a someone a friend of mind endured me to a while ago so I like the story here and I like easy early game faith

Japan - First Civ I won with and they are so good people don't even like to talk it about anymore

Ethiopia - Not going to lie when I heard there was going to be Ethiopia I laughed, but I have a lot of fun game with them I think they are put together well
What's so funny about Ethiopia?

They seem like a very logical choice to represent East Africa.

I suppose if the developers really wanted to be old-fashioned, they could have used the Kingdom of Aksum/Axum instead, but Ethiopia is an understandably modern incarnation of it.

Or is it because most people are ignorant about African history? (And probably have no idea what Songhai is either).

Since I really love Naval combat ... (I love storming beaches in the game with Battleships, Carriers, and Amphibous assaults landing on foreign soil...)

England is probably my favorite Civ overall. But I've had fun with ALL of them, I tend to like Civ's that have units / abilities that are used in multiple time periods rather than 1 ability that makes early or late game easier.

Favorite overall: Maya, great for any mood and that's 100% thanks to the Pyramid

Favorite immersion: Polynesia, love the music, love the look of the moai

Least favorite: Germany, forces me to a play a style I'm not comfortable playing and I don't like UUs that come near the end of the game

Mmmmmmmontezuma. I just can't get enough of that ol' culture slaughter victory. Get yourself a ceremonial burial religion and as many puppets as you can possibly muster.

The Huns, for really great music, great early game and reaaaaally great leader animations (I like playing against them too, even though they DOW a lot.)

The Celts, for good faith production and the ability to REX.

The Mayans, for I've von my first +10 cities science victory with them. (Gotta love those pyramids)

The Ottomans, for good UU's and an UA for water maps (which I rarely play), and GREAT music.

Overall, I really like the new G&K civs. They've added much to the game.

I like more to play with the older ones like France because they have a really good culture output at the start

Denmark love UUs
Ottomans great UUs great UA for sea maps, epic music.
Russia, Arabia and Sweden.

I have two favourites, and they are Byzantium and Carthage, overall.

For science! -> Rome. I know, not very regular, but I like to use them for science, as the extra production can help developing the cities and building all sorts of stuff.

For diplomacy! -> Sweden, I just love Sweden so much... Carthage is also great for this, so is Netherlands and Greece.

For domination! -> If it is a water map, I'll stick with my beloved Carthage. If it is a pangaea map, I'd pick China or Russia. If it is continents, England. Also, the Incas rule.

For culture! -> Aztecs, nuff said.

"Then, where is Byzantium?" -> My condition for them depends on the map type :P

I'm really surprised most of you have not included China in more of your best civ lists

Top five
5. Austria Love UA
4. Russia Love UB and UA
3. Netherlands UI UA and UU no one can match.
2. Rome Love everything even its history
1. Byzantium Love everything even its history
Special mentions for America, Maya, Carthage, and for the mod of Canada.

England - Love their music and Longbowmen are epic. Not to mention that the extra spy is useful if you're backwards in tech.
Persia - Don't really have to say anything here.
India - Just biased because I'm from India. xD
Montezuma - I like playing as him but I like it even better when I defeat him. His game over dialogue is hilarious.
Korea - Modern Era with everyone else in the Medieval Era anyone?
