Algernon: I like the old monochrome ones, as long as they're good. I'll try to watch the ones you've mentioned. I enjoyed the maltese falcon when i watched it. I just needed to sort the rubbish from the good stuff before i get into them.
My goodness, the film version of The Sum of All Fears is enough to make you nauseous as to how they wrecked what could have been a masterpiece. Minorly entertaining on a base, atavistic level, but a vastly inferior product. I am recommending all those involved in its ruin be sent to the gulags.
One's favorite movie must be The Final Countdown starring the great Kirk Douglas and Sheen Sr.
Although, one tends to get sick by the science-fiction movies which pervade the market right now, the movie has indeed some science-fictional moments, and although I rarely like any elements of this, The Final Countdown wouldn't have been anything without this.

It is truly a marvellous film, but it would have been even better if the film makers had thrown caution to the wind, and let the Nimitz attack the Jap fleet.

Very true, it would have turned the movie into an even more interesting show of military history. What one likes about the movie is the fascinating show of military equipment, the story in general about going back in time, and the atmosphere. This is what makes the movie one's all time favorite, but one also enjoys the old Hitchcock classics and the Steve McQueen movies.
Generally, one tends to like the movies from the late 50s, 60s, and 70s far more than movies from today. Don't know, what's the big deal about movies from that period, but it was afterall the golden age where legends were formed. Some of the more recent movies one liked were the movies Under Siege starring Steven Seagal, one of them, aboard the USS Missouri is a splendid movie although highly hypothetical.
Favorite actors include:
Steve McQueen
Charles Bronson
Paul Newman
Steven Seagal
Burt Reynolds
One will have the film made again. Thrice. Once with a Nimitz class CVN, once with a Royal Darkshade Navy Supercarrier, and the last time will be with a Darkshade class BBGN. Now that would be able to sink the Jap fleet alright. (All of them could, but the last would do it with class.)
I'm sure. One would simply "borrow" the drawings for the BB-61-class and then restructure and arm them with the latest weapons, armor, etc.
About carriers, one is particularly disappointed with the "new look" of the future carriers of my country. It's my general opinion about all the future carriers which are to be deployed when I am to assume the office, so I guess I must be forced to shut down the programs and instead go for the old designs.
Don't know if ye agree, but I've seen all the pictures or the "artist impressions" of carriers and destoyers. Hell no. They're disgusting in one's esteemed view.
Yes, they may become even more effective as the ultimate mobile weapon, but I just can't stand the designs and we aren't to make a fool out of ourselves. For example by deploying a carrier without an island house!
I say, if you want to support more aircraft, build more carriers, and 80+ aircraft is adequate I would say per carrier.
If I already posted on this thread, don't mind me - just don't feel like checking.
