I was curious as to what everyone on here listened to. There seem to be a lot of rock fans, but maybe I'm wrong. I myself am a hip-hop fan, old and new.

same as Chucki, most modern stuff sucks

Out of these catagories, Classic Rock all the way!

"She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie; cocaine."

I prefer Industrial music, along the lines of Skinny Puppy and KMFDM.

So what exactly does that fit under? Is industrial like techno kind of? (forgive my ignorance)

Punk. Though it's never a polloption in threads like this one. :p
So, "Other"...

The general defination of Industrial is "a preversion of mainsteam music." Pretty much the same instruments they use in Rock, etc., except they use computers to prevert it.

A lot of categories missing... I like several music styles: classical music, jazz, funk, drum n'bass, blues, reggae, some electronica, bossa nova, some rock (more the classical stuff), etc.

I love that Long Beach sound...

Sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars, etc.

Mostly 80's music, is fun to listen to, and is (positive) energy inspiring. But I have a wide range of taste - including classical, and some other stuff that would be illegal to play publicly in Germany. :mischief: (though yeah - modern stuff sucks, I agree) Very little good came out of the 90s... only a few pop artists, and some catchy dance mixes... but all that rap, hip-hop, and booty music, can go burn in...

Yes, I can see including electronica, but I don't believe that Jazz, bossa nova, etc. has that much listernership (?)

For blues. I included R&B (Rhythm and Blues)

None of the above. Genre doesn't matter. Artist doesn't matter. Publisher doesn't matter. Only quality matters.

I listen to metal/alternative/grunge. So yeh rock :)

To give you a good idea of what I like my 5 fave bands are...

Tool
Placebo
Marilyn Manson
Rammstein
A Perfect Circle

So, yeh a bit on the industrial side there with Marilyn Manson and Rammstein :)

I prefer Industrial music, along the lines of Skinny Puppy and KMFDM.
I've been wanting to check those 2 bands out for awhile, could you reccomend any particular tracks I should listen to?

I'd say that jazz has sold more albums and has been listened by much more people over decades or even nowadays than hip hop/rap ever will. Maybe it's not that listened among people between 13 and 25 years old, but certainly much more than hip hop over that age.

As for blues, I'm speaking of the Miles Davis or Louis Armstrong kind of thing and not Destiny's Child. :p

Being able to choose multiple types and more options would be nice. I prefer Hip Hop/Rap (more old school than new), but I really like all types of music as long as its good - except for country, except for country, except for country (5,000,000 points to whoever can figure out the reference).

Its hard to pigeonhole my musical tastes

I like some 60's soul (which is much different from music that is called soul and r&b today), like the Spinners, Sam & Dave, etc.

I like a lot of classic rock groups, (Chicago, Queen, Boston, Springsteen, Pink Floyd, etc)

I love the music of the retro big band swing movement (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue, The Atomic Fireballs)

, I enjoy a lot of funk/soul groups. (Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone)

and finally, I like the Blues Brothers, Blues Travler and DMB. I dont know where to put those.

so, do I vote none of the above?

I would actually, for the purposes of this small poll, include Destiny's Child in hip-hop (As much as I hate too)

Actually, Miles Davis was mostly Rythm and Blues. Is there any way yo edit the poll to include more options?
