Favorite War Quotes!

One of my favorite war quotes has been mentioned, sans context. It has the unfortunate onus of being first uttered by the founder of the Klu Klux Klan, General Nathan Bedford Forrest.

"The battle goes to the fustest with the mostest."

(Fastest with the mostest.)

I guess it just shows that even smart people can be ignorant racist dip****s.

DAMN! I forget that one. That's got to be one of the classiest war quotes ever.

"War does not determine who is right - only who is left"
--Betrand Russell

"Exerience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first and the lesson afterwards."
--Vernon Sanders Law

"A man who won't die for anything is not fit to live."
--Martin Luther King

"We improve ourselves by victories over ourself. There will be contests; and you must win."
--Edward Gibbon

"Much good work is lot but for a little more."
--Edward Harriman

"War is a series of disasters that results in a winner."
--George Clemenceau

Evil Son-of-a-hooker, but made sinister quotes:

"In England they ask when is he invading? I say do not worry, I am coming!"

"They drop bombs on German cities, We shall raze thiers to the ground!"

It could only be rabid Adolf!

"Eat V2 Missles, Explode and Reload!"

Enemy Ace, battle of Zimbabwe, Civ III, two weeks ago.

Excuse me but I'm just SICK of seing post saying "You bad nasty racist!" and everyone cowardly apologise, instead of telling the guy "you see racism in that? Well my grand'ma saw a UFO yesterday..."

But when I talk to an asian ("asiatique" in french : china is is a country, not a morphological trait), well I just don't feel I talk to an asian. I feel like I talk to a man, like anyone else.

So please learn what racism means before shouting "you ugly racist!" at someone who obviously did not mean to...

You are missing the point. The term "Chinaman" is racist because it was a term used in the days when racism was unchallenged. The problem with the word is that it is ungrammatically formed. Would I call you a Franceman? Who would say Englandman? The accepted form is just "Chinese man (person)" analogous to "Frenchman" and "Englishman".

It is the same with other terms (with their historically loaded racist connotation) like "coon" and "wog".

I forgot I had a couple of lighthearted quotes as well.

"Don't mention the war." Basil Fawlty (aka John Cleese) in one of the funniest episodes of Fawlty Towers, with reference to the German guests at his hotel.

"At.....we will start bombing Moscow" (or words to that effect) - Ronald Reagen's on-air off-air comment.

Oh wait...
Wait...
I've got some good ones...

"I don't know how world war three will be fought, but I know that world war four will be fought with sticks and stones"
------------------
Albert Einstein

"A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is just a statistic"
---------------
Josef Stalin (tell me, who was more cruel of him and Hitler?)

"If you retreat or desert, you will be shot"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Generally accepted WWI doctrine (also widely used by the abovementioned soviet dictator)

"They couldn't hit an elephant at this dista..."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gen. John Sedgewick (shot while peering over the trenchline and jeering his men at the battle of Spotsylvania)

"It is magnificent, but it isn't war - it's stupidity!"
-------------------------------------------------------------
French General Bosquet after the charge of the light brigade

And finally, my favourite: See the bit at the bottom?

To responses in an anoulogous situation as "nuts" by the 101 Airborne, both by units of Napoleon's Garde Imperiale after Waterloo:

"The old guard dies, it does not surrender"

"Merde!"

OK..just cause it relates to Civ.

"God help me I love it so."

Patton (ok..from the Movie) on waging war.

"Muero contento, hemos batido al enemigo..."

"I die content, we have crush the enemy..."

Sargent Cabral, killed in action saving his commander, General Jose de San Martin, of an enemy spear while he was trapped under his horse putting himself on the way ...

Honor to the great Cabral. :)

"Since World War Two, New Zealand is the only country in the western world to sink a Russian ship
David Lange (shortly after the sinking of the Mikhail Lermontov)"
