A woman with a rifle is just as deadly as a man with a rifle. They should be allowed to serve in combat, and considering that people are not simply joining up as much, opening combat to women wouldn't hurt. They do it in Israel, why not here?

Only if they can do the job in question just as well as the men. Practically speaking, this means that the combat portion of the military would be 90%+ male.

There are a bunch of reason as to why females should not be in " combat arms " branches of the military. Already enough trouble in the various services with them in combat support and service units.

You know how many female Sailors come back from crusies pregnant? How many cases of sexual misconduct on the part of both male and female military personal go on each year?

You want to put them in line infantry units filled with some hardcore men?

Women don't even take the same PT test nor meet the same standards. Nor can they handle the stress of combat as well as men in the majority of cases. Men can not handle seeing women shot or blown to peices as well. It's just the way we are wired in that regard.

Your asking for a lot of trouble if you intermix combat units. The least of wich... SEPERATE HOUSING AND OBGYN VISITS IN INFANTRY UNITS

There, you have just doubbled the military houseing budget. Congradulations, enjoy your brief stay in office as SECDEF.

None of them serve in combat roles. It was tried once and the resaults were not pretty. An all female infantry Company killed a few dozzen egyptians after looseing a squad of theres in combat, so the urban legand goes. Females are the most vicious things in nature some would say.

Its not a legal responsibility, but still, women bear and care for children. Thats plenty of responsibility for women.

Isreal has like 7 million people. They are surrounded by like 100 million who have, over the years, repeatedly attempted to destroy them. They need the (wo)manpower.

I think women should be in the military (and should be subject to a draft or mandatory enlistment policy) and in some combat roles. Flying planes is fine. Dying in close combat is not. On front line soldiers, seeing dead females has a different psychological effect than seeing than dead males.

A physical reason females are not fit for recon infantry missions: Bleeding is an unacceptable expenditure of energy under such circumstances. 1/2 a MRE/day and an hour of sleep is not going to cut it if you're bleeding.

Thus, I support the current US policy that women not be in combat arms.

I can say with almost 100% accuracy no female in the IDF has the following MOS.

Infantry
Cavalry
Artillery

Ya, I am awaare of that. WOmen are drafted there, though. Thats the issue I was adressing. I guess I didn't read his post well enough, my bad.
