To the Kuriotates:

We have already spent and invested so much into this ritual, and time after time, we have lost it. The Amure League is permanently Crippled. we have lost many of our finest and brightest scholars and Mages. Do you truly beleive this Life ritual is the best Idea?

the Caswallen

OOC:
yeah they do but then i am purposefully not trying to intruduce new ideas from the NPCs...

for the kuriotates it has the advantage of actually curing the infestation so everyone can get back to nation building instead of constantly having to be under siege....

EDIT: as a mod i am not trying to get you to do the lfe-mana ritual thing- the only reason the kurios are suggesting it (over and over) again is because i (the mod) don't want to introduce ideas that are never nearly as creative as the ones you all come up with- your orders are constantly surprising and innovative and i know your ideas for a solution to this will be also... and so the NPC plays the same old record (regardless of how good the record is)

ultimatly it will be a player decision.

IC:

If every nation can apply themselves to the ritual, it WILL succeed- we just have to be careful to guard it well. Perhaps scouts or hunters could be sent to the tomb to determine if it is currently overrun with the infected. we heard (from the update) that the hungry dead hate being near the tomb and that the tomb itself guards against the dead reaching any who take refuge near it... we believe it is only a small matter to ship men and women, and the needed rituals form the ships that carry them to the tomb- for this we will need guards... perhaps the elves can supply this? or the hippus? we, unfortunately, are too far away and we believe the grigori will be unable to assist as they are currently pre-occupied.

We can pledge 45 gold and 20rp to paying for the ritual and to hiring guards.

Edit: Yeah, I messed this up a bit. :crazyeye: I relabeled the graph 2 posts down it's much more accurate. But here is the first one if you want to see my mess up. :D

So, time for another granary post! :D

I made up this graph to compare:

No granary (X's)
New Granary (triangles)
Old Granary (squares)

Granary Graph.JPG

It seems that the old granary is great for size 1 cities, but worse than the new granary for anything else.

Yes, the old granary is much better when the cities get large, but with just 2 cities it will take until size 16 for the old granary to be more useful than the new one. Plus, you only have to build the new granaries in the city being expanded, not in all cities.

So it's clear which I like better, but I don't have any granaries yet so I don't have a major say in the issue. But just look at the pretty graph, you know you want to agree. ;)

What? The old granary was way better (so long as you had as many granaries as cities, and for cities larger than 7 population). You didn't account for the fact that it was, if not exactly easy, at least practicable to have granaries in every city.

Yeah my bad. I meant to include the multiple granaries but forgot to and then got myself all confused. So all those old granary graphs should be the same as the 1 city one in gray. That definitely makes the old ones a lot better than the new ones.

Edit: Okay, here's the graph more accurately labelled. It is interesting now to see than one old granary with 2 cities actually isn't that much worse than 1 new granary, but 1 old granary per city is far superior to anything the new granaries can offer.

Granary Graph 2.JPG

Well, even the difference between 1 per city old and new isn't even all that great until the city reaches size 10 or so.

I don't mind that nerf so much, because it is actually reasonable to lower the benefit somewhat. What does bother me a little is that the benefit for having granaries in each city has disappeared, since that did actually make a difference in my economic planning earlier in the NES.

If we use the ritual at the Tomb of Sucellos we must also send large suppplies of food to prevent our people from starving while they are performing the ritual. The Food (and water) we send will be stored inside the tomb to prevent it from being contaminated.

The Bannor have no food to send at present (like 3 or 4 max) so is there any nation that will be able to send food? As well as the other resources needed.

How about we keep the new granary mechanic and the cost of granaries are reduced by 10 gold to 15 gold... all those with granaries get 1 population free (per city with granary) and get 10 gold back (per city with granary)

if i get YES from all granary owners than thats what we will do.

if no, then granaries stay unchanged.

and realism-wise and game-wise i agree with orange-
i just need a simple mechanic that i can build on with other buildings.

EDIT: i am going to go ahead and utilize the new granaries.. i know they aren't as good as the old ones but between a 10gold discout and 1 free pop, i don't think you are out too badly...
i'm sorry but growing the game takes precedence and i need to use a mechanic that allows that.
(it means that in the early game all you need for fast growth is a granary but as you city grows you need things like an aqueduct and a hospital, etc which is sort of what i wanted anyway)... so sorry to those of you with granaries. at least you get some extra cash to play with.

Eekin ships prowling the islands between Als-Sidar and Edsunhand have encountered a curious race of beast-like men. They are between six and eight feet tall and covered in reddish or brown hair. They have features like a bull including lengthly horns. Despite extensive musculature and their fearsome demeanor, these people, who call themselves the Syrii, are quiet and reserved with no love for war or battle.

Syrii ambassadors have been ferried to all major cities by private sector Eekin sailors (apparently there is some money in it for them) and both the Eekin and the Syrii look forward to establishing diplomatic ties and trade with the nations of both continents.

We can send as much food as is needed. Our entire treasury is needed to replace the soldiers that bravely defended our land, but we could send one unit of spear militia and our scouts that are currently in Hippus lands. Our soldiers would be of great use, as the pestilence does not appear to infect us.

How are your soldiers not affected by zombies again?

@Hbar

hate to be the bearer of bad news (no really!), but:

your spearmen are too far away to reach province 41 in one turn as they have a movement of 2.

also- while trade fleets can carry money and food they cannot carry units- for that you need your own miltiary fleet (a naval unit) (and even if you did none of the ships are fast enough to round the entire herthi penisula and drop a unit off at the tomb in one turn.

you could concievably take over the defence of either the grigori or hippus towns and let their forces go to the tomb if you wanted to.

Right. Well, that's out.

Oh, and Seon: The Kappa don't have actual brains - their skull are hollow and open at the top (head-bowls), and they are filled with water. No brains = no zombieification.

Two small requests:

1) could hbar or nutrannurse post the 'three nations' treaty?
2) could ekolite or merciary or thomas post the 'alliance' treaty?

The Hippus can send as much food as needed, we have a large stockpile.

Preface

We Three Nations- the Kuriotates, Kappa, and Mist Elves- declare our struggles and goals as mutual and now join with one another to overcome whatever should choose to obstruct our pursuits. In an effort to further strengthen ourselves militarily, economically, and diplomatically we seek to form an alliance which will benefit these ambitions. We wish not to war, but to prosper.

The Official Charter of the Treaty of Three Nations

The Sovereign Nations of the Kuriotates, Kappa, and Mist Elves hereby declare the following clauses as law and shall seek to uphold them. We call upon _______ to solidify this treaty as legitimate and just.

1) The Three Nations shall regard one another as favoured parters in the matters of trade and economical prosperity. If trade routes may be established they shall be and goods shall flow free between the Three Nations so long as the trade of such goods do not produce economical damage to either nation. Within the three nations we shall designate three respective provinces to serve as the focal points to conduct trade and these cities shall function with open boarders to any of the three nations.
(Free Trade Clause)

2) The Three Nations seek not to war, but should war come to us we shall respond swiftly and efficiently. In times of martial struggle if any of the Three Nations calls for the other two to aid them in their hour of need they shall or face not only material wrath from their spurned allies, but the unkind hand of the Gods. However, unless separate agreements are created the Three Nations are not obligated to join themselves to any offensive military operations their allies find necessary to undergo.
(The Defensive War Clause)

3) The Three Nations seek the flourishing of our allies and their peoples, so should misfortune befall our dear friends aid shall be given freely and without the burdens of recompense. If blight, magical, natural, or otherwise, visit itself upon your sister-nation aid shall be given so long as it does not jeopardise your own peoples and state.
(Aid Clause)

I forget what gods we decided on, but the rest is here.

The League Charter

Let this agreement be witnessed by the Gods Junil, Oghma and Tali. May they punish those who betray the League by breaking its honourable tenets.

Preamble

We, the Mighty Nations of Northern Edsunland, former members of the Northern Alliance, the beloved of the Gods, come together here this day to form a new and far greater future for the people of Edsunland. Henceforth, our nations shall be bound by the will of the Gods, as well as honour, and co-operation between our governments will be far greater and more organised. We hope that this will allow not only the North, but the entire Edsunlandic populace to live in greater security and stability, and for peace to reign in this world, allowing the further development and progress of our people.

In the eyes of the Gods, we will allow any nation who can fulfil the application requirements of the League to join us to promote extended stability and reach across this very Erebus. The process of application will be discussed below.

Terms and Clauses of ’The League’.

1. The Members of ‘The League’ will co-operate with each other and co-ordinate any and all defensive and aggressive operations voted by the League Council.
(The Common Military Operations Clause)

2. The Member Nations of ‘The League’ will collaborate on all matters of significant diplomatic importance, including declarations of war, peace treaties, trade embargoes, the joining of special councils, and the establishment of military alliances and defensive pacts with other nations. In all these significant diplomatic matters, no nation will act until they have the full consent of the others through the results of a vote of the League Council. The ratification of new diplomatic treaties and declarations will be determined by a two-thirds vote of all League Members. Members are mandated to comply with the results of these votes whether they voted for or against them, and whether they disagree or not, should they refuse to comply they will face the wrath of the Gods. When at war, a single nation may not conduct in diplomacy with the opposing nation, and diplomacy can only take part as a League. When contacted by an opposing nation, Members should recommend that the Nation contacts the League as a whole. (PM’s must be to all members)
(The Collaboration Clause)

3. To lead this coalition in the views of others, and to speak for ‘The League’ as a whole, one Member state will have the status of Speaker, this will be the Bannor, and the title of Speaker shall belong to the Bannor Head of State. Other member nations may privately relate the decisions of The League Council, unless it was decided that the matter must remain a secret of the Council. Only the Speaker state will be responsible for making the decisions of the League public. Nations may not reveal how member nations voted on a matter, or whether the decision was made unanimously or whether one or more nations voted against the decision.
(The Speaker Clause)

4. Each member of the League is allowed to put forward a matter to the Council for voting. Such a matter could be an amendment to a clause of the Charter, or another matter concerning the League as a whole. Once a decision has been decided by the Council, it is law, and becomes a clause of the Charter until the matter is unanimously decided closed. Breaking a Clause of The League is breaking the honour of our people and inviting the wrath of our Gods, it may also be met with disciplinary confiscation of territory and possessions of the nation by the League, which may be returned to the nation once the other members, and the Gods themselves, have forgiven them. Breaking a clause of The League does not expel the nation from The League, and as such further breakages of The League’s clauses will be met with further punishment.
(The Council’s Decision Clause)

5. All Nations of Erebus that do not belong to a similar organisation are invited to apply for membership in The League, which takes place in the following three stages:
The Applicant makes a gift of gold to The League Fund. This gift must be at least 35 gold for the Council to consider the Applicant as a nation fit to join.
Member Nations may accept gifts of gold or other gifts from the Applicant in return for a ‘’YES’’ vote. These are payable to the treasury of the Member Nation and not the League Fund.

The current Members of The League will vote on whether the Applicant should be allowed to join or not. For these purposes a unanimous decision is required. Once a decision is made, nations cannot disclose how each nation voted (Refer to Clause 4). It is the Speaker’s duty to relate to the Applicant whether their offer was accepted or not. (Refer to Clause 3).

Should the Applicant be accepted, all clauses of the Charter apply to them, including decisions regarding current matters such as defence and war before they were accepted as a member. If the Applicant is refused a position they may apply for membership again at a later date. Their payment to the League Fund in Section A is no-refundable, as is any gift given to a member nation.
(The Application Clause)

6. A member may not leave The League without the express and unanimous permission of the Founding Members. They must also gift 35 gold or more to the League Fund. This is the only way to leave the League, and refusing to go through this process will be breaking the honour of our people and the Law of this agreement. This will result in punishment by the other League members, which can include confiscation of territory and property, trade embargoes, destruction of property and others.
Breaking further tenets, such as engaging a member of the League in combat, that is not undergoing disciplinary measures, will result in further punishment.
A nation cannot be expelled from the League, but while they are suffering disciplinary measures, other members may engage in hostile measures without breaking the treaty. Breaking a clause of the Treaty invites the wrath of the Gods upon the offending nation.
(The Leaving Clause)

7. A fund shall be established, which shall be held by the Speaker Nation. Here will be held the gold and property owned by the League collectively. Each turn, every member will pay 5 gold into the Treasury. They may withhold payment if necessary, but the following turn they must pay the Gold owed last turn and the Gold owed in the current turn (10 gold). A Nation may pay their dues into the Fund turns in advance should they wish. All income from regions owned by the League Council will go directly into this Fund, and not the treasury of the Nation who supervises them. All tribute and gifts to the League as a whole will be deposited in the League Fund.
Every member nation will be alerted by the Council Scribes when gold from the fund I spent, and it may not be spent (by the Speaker Nation or others) unless the spending is agreed to by the Council (2/3 vote required).
(The League Fund Clause)

8. The Member nations are responsible for their own internal stability, and should maintain their own law enforcement. Nations may not interfere with the governance of other Members unless invited to do so by that member, and without said permission, a matter involving the governance of a member nation may not be put forward to the Council for Voting. The Council cannot be used to enforce religious or secular practises (State Religions or Civics) upon member nations. It is the decision of the individual nation how their government is structured.
(The Interference Clause)

7. The Members of the League must honour their current territorial boundaries as defined by their current settlements, but leave the rest of the world open to colonization. In the future, members of the Coalition will consider any province already colonized by another member to be strictly off limits for future colonization, even if the current settlement is later destroyed or captured. The only exception to this rule is when a Member is being disciplined, in which case territory may be confiscated to the League Fund.
(The Colonization Clause)

8. Spoils of War from operations run jointly by the League are to be paid into the League Fund.
(The Spoils of War Clause)

9. Members pledge to give all technologies to all other members freely, unless said technology bears the cultural stamp of a nation that is not a Member. In such a case, a two-thirds vote can enforce the owning member to fund the removal of the cultural stamp on the technology, allowing it to be traded to the other Member states. Research should be co-ordinated to prevent multiple members trading for or researching the same technologies, maximising our development.
(The Free Trade of Technology Clause)

10. Member nations should hold preference for each other on the matter of resource trade, although trade to nations outside of the League is not prohibited.
(The Trade of Resources Clause)

11. Amending this Treaty in any way can only be done by a two-thirds Vote in favour of said amendment.
(The Amendment Clause)

12. The full League Council shall be called to session every 3 turns if no votes have been called in that same period of time, with the purpose of mandating deliberation between members on all pressing matters, to consider the proposals of new amendments to this treaty and new diplomatic actions of the Coalition.
(The Deliberation Clause)

13. Nations may not conduct in hostile activities to a member nation unless disciplinary action is taking place.
(The Hostility Clause)

14. The Council will arrange its meetings in one of the various Capitals of the League: Cevedes, Altheriol-ta-Mealthiel or Sabelia.
(The Meeting Clause)

15. At the signing of this treaty, ‘’The Northern Alliance’’ is considered null, as are any agreements made under its name.
(The Nullification Clause)

Oaths:
